The 18s behave quite differently to the 17s. I find it quite interesting. If I had the other wheels on it wouldn't have gone around so far and I would have had space to flick it the other way as well. Oh well, excuses excuses. I sound like 3/4's of the people who go drag racing then say, "yeah I would have got a low 11 but I got a 15.4 but that's cos it was too hot/ the tack was shit/ my PFC wasn't right/ I had the wrong tyres on/ I didn't get laid the night before/ etc etc etc"

Given what I've seen around recently on this forum in particular, you should definitely check out some of the private 34 sales. You get to see and drive the car, no import worries, but you might have to travel around the country checking a few out. At least you are in Sydney which is going to help.

I've had a whine (we'll find out tonight if it's the same one as yours) since I got the car. Boost is stock and holds it fine. Car goes good but the guy I bought it off says the sound it makes is not normal and is curious to check it out at the next service.

What kind of higher boost are you talking about Franks? Have you blown one? I haven't gone to higher boost yet but I'm not far from it. Weird about the injectors. I would have thought that would be the same as the older RB25's. 550 would be ok with a not too crazy turbo upgrade though wouldn't it? (2535?) Anyone know about the limits of the fuel pump?

I bought mine from a dealer because I felt better having seen and driven it. Also was a good dealer so when things went wrong with it, and they did go wrong, they fixed them all free of charge. To my knowledge they have spent about 10 or so hours on it and put in new splitfire coils (somewhere between $700 and $1000) and new platinum plugs (over $100 at least). Now this isn't 10 grand but I felt a lot safer doing it this way. I would say that I would import my own next time, if there is a next time, but only because of the things I've learnt from this experience. So I would say that if you do it yourself you will save some money but you will pay for it with anxious moments along the way. Mine is an auto and heaps of people like to bag me out for it but the fact is that I live in Sydney so it's worth the power loss for the convenience and comfort. The auto box takes a while to warm up and shifts very slowly when cold but once warm is lovely. I always use the tiptronic buttons on the steering wheel to change gears. Can't advise on comparisons re 33/34 but I just couldn't bear the thought of selling a 99 model car to buy an older one.

Well rather than edit... Changing the CAS just coincided with a few days of running fine. It was the coil packs after all. Now have some nice Splitfires in there.
