  1. I used the wisecos which I'm pretty happy with. For an extra $1000 or more I couldn't see the point in the Tomei's. I paid less than that for my Tomei cams so that was a much better place to spend the money.
  2. But what do you think about the surfaces and what it means in terms of things needing to be replaced or machined or whatever? I'm a noob when it comes to reading the surfaces.
  3. It started backwards but we've got it pointing the right way now.
  4. Well not the carnage I was expecting. No time for a long post just shitloads of pics.
  5. Well spotted. It's a TDM850. You know what's funny is that now that it has dried off a bit, the exhaust valves from each cylinder no longer look quite so different from each other. The erstwhile lighter one have no deposits on them though and the others do, it's just that those ones have lightened up a little. Haven't got to the bottom end yet but that's what I think it's problem was. Rattley big end or main bearing.
  6. Yes we do. Please do a search for "workshop".
  7. Thanks Trent. I am starting to think those two valves aren't sealing properly. I will try the thinners trick. Plugs were fairly similar.
  8. Sorry that's not the bit I was asking about. That's just crap from a bolt I had to grind off cos someone before me had completely rounded it. What I'm curious about is the condition of those two different coloured valves and also the condition of the bores.
  9. Yeehar. I de man!
  10. What do you guys think is going on with my bike engine? Basically it's a two cylinder engine and each cylinder has it's own carby. Cylinder 1: Cylinder 2: And here is the underside of the head. Does this mean cylinder 2 is running lean? Cylinder 1: Cylinder 2: These are my camshafts. Anyone care to comment? These are my bores. You can still clearly see the hones marks but I measured the bores by eye and they are 89.5mm x 89.1mm at the top of the bore and 89.5mm x 89.4mm at the bottom. Ok I used a Vernier Caliper as I didn't have a bore scope thingy. I was hoping to get away with new rings, bearings and gaskets. What do you all think? The pics there show that the piston skirts are wearing the bores. I haven't got the bearings out yet so don't know their condition.
  11. Chubb, you could try lowering the front of your car by 1 cm which will give you a little more neg camber. Also I've bent a lower control arm (which is probably what that guy earlier in the thread who said his camber is different on each side and the aligners don't know why has happen to his car) so I can either get a second hand arm from a wreck or I was considering JJR Front Lower Adjustable Arms. Basically these push the bottom of your wheel out rather than bring the top in like the adjustable top arms that everyone else is talking about. Now from memory, I think that subtracting 1 degree of camber (ie, going from say, -1.5 to -2.5) takes 1/2 a degree of caster which I don't think is a big deal. Given that we know the whiteline bushes give roughly 1.5 degrees of adjustment. I am thinking I will try the JJR lower arms, with the upper bushes adjusted all the way out, set to -1.5 then hopefully I wont have to touch the lower arms for track days, just adjust the bushes to all the way in and I should have -3 degrees. Eug, yes the bushes do change the pivot points, but not when full in or full out. All other times yes. How much difference it makes on the street is debatable though, probably f**k all.
  12. I can vouch for the Dummy's books. I published a website using one of their books and it turned out really well. Not online anymore so I can't show you sorry. If you want free. Hit google and you will find something. This took me 2 seconds to find. Click me.
  13. Yeah can't get any worse from here. Smile.
  14. Crazy shit. Not a drop down south.
  15. Well done, too bad Campbelltown is three tanks of fuel from here in Sydney traffic. Nah, just kidding. Nice work.
  16. Nah I heard both those guys were slow.
  17. I'm sorry but you failed my patented dodgy asian detector test. You are however qualified to be my friend. I'm sorry this job pays less than every other job on the planet.
  18. No need to remind me. I never said I actually did street race up to the speed limit, I just expressed an opinion that I didn't think it was that bad. I also think that people should be able to legally buy and use heroin and other drugs (not ice) in controlled systems but I'm certainly not interested in it myself. Of course burnouts in suburban streets are bad. All I'm saying is that noise pollution laws are all you need to cover them, I don't think you need massive penalties like confiscating cars and sending people to prison. There are already laws about making excessive smoke, etc so as usual, the government is duplicating laws needlessly. If there is a hoon problem, it's not due to lax laws, it's lax enforcement of the current laws. Yeah you dodgy asian with your.. umm .. dodgy dodginess. Bad asian in import must be locked up! I'm not sure a suit at 3am will help... although wearing one seems to be a licence to rip millions from people via listed companies. I think this comes under road related area and thus is still illegal. Also, you still have the noise pollution aspect to consider.
  19. Good post Saliya. You mean ATMO BOV but no. It only expels compressed air which is what makes it hard for people to understand why it should be defectable. The reason it is defectable is due to emissions. Ie, the AFM has measured the air going into the engine and the based on this the ECU tells the injectors how much fuel to put in but if the BOV vents then that air wont go in but the fuel will hence high emissions for a split second. I don't know how this would work or apply to cars with MAP sensors but that's how I understand it to work with AFM's.
  20. Can you get either of them chipped?
  21. It's for a present.
  22. All this obsession with emissions yet we only just signed the Kyoto Protocol.
  23. That guy rocks. He built my whole car. It's not even a Nissan even though it looks like one.
  24. Yeah you can tell who has been there before by their times through the day. The experienced ones improve a second or two from first to last but I was more like 5 and Nick was about 8!
  25. I got 8th in class at the supersprint and 19th outright. Hill climb was 8th and 24th. I would have got 7th if you hadn't got protested INTO my class!
