Turbo To Exhaust Manifold Gasket (standard Turbo)r33
Abo Bob replied to skyguy61's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
It's completely possible. I have done it myself. I even told you how to do it on sunday Carlo. Also the manifold to head gasket is much more work even with the turbo off. This thread -
Cool. so give us a run down of the night.

Hey Queenslanders. I'm coming up for a few days to destroy Brisbane and thought I might be able to catch up with a few of you on sunday. I think 666DAN is coming. I'll be in the Newfarm area and without transport so will scope out a pub when I get up there on friday and let you know. How does that sound?

Yeah I forgot them in the morning then laid them out for people at the start finish line. They were all a bit big really. Pm me if you want one. It's likely to be big. Yes the track is a drug.

If you're going to correct someone so strongly you better be right. Wrxhoon quite likely has more years experience with Skylines and cars in general than you have been alive and you're calling him a keyboard mechanic? We're all here to help and be helped. Spouting incorrect crap does neither so best to either keep it to yourself or preface it with, "I think..." or better, "I'm probably wrong but...".

I'm not going, weather looks crap.

Shit man that sux. Just out of curiosity, how would the dyno have helped?

They are both 18x10 front and rear. They are one off development rims made specially for the original Japanese owner. Can't remember the offset sorry.

Well I'm finally home. Thanks for the thanks everyone. I couldn't have done it without all my helpers though. Kel, Duncan, Neil, Steve, Anna, Corinne, (this space left blank for the person I will have inevitably forgotten). Cheers also to Greg for the loan of the jack and Snap-On penis polisher. Thanks Shaun for giving my mate a lift home. Thanks Andrew(?) for helping me bleed my brakes for the second time and the japanese translation service. I had brake problems most of the day which culminated in a rotor cracked to the hub. Also found out what happens if you run semi slicks for 3 more track days than advised by pretty much everyone. Bits come off them and it's kind of like driving on butter. Even so, I'm told I was timed doing 1:11's several times so that's a pb for me. I was short shifting all day as well so with a bit more practice driving a manual around the track of those speeds and I should get where I want. I still have a few track day shirts left over if anyone missed out. Very funny and scary for us organisers how many people spun out in the first sessions but thankfully no problems created there. That's what an open wheeling diff will do to you. I wrecked a semi slick at Eastern Creek the same way. I'm a bit worried about the contents of that video Anna. Brad, very sorry for the megaphone at midnight routine. The others made me do it. Those tyres are a very soft compound Raul so your brakes must have been really bad. What pads are you using? Delaminated tyres and cracked rotor. Glad you enjoyed. My car had no intercooler pipe problems on the track but on the way down I blew one off. I was lying on the ground seeing what the problem was when I see some guy walking across the highway towards me. Turned out to be 2rismo who just happened to be driving the other way and his help was greatly appreciated in getting the car back together. It's quite a big bang and a little scary first time it happens to you. I remember Anthony's face when we got up to him after his did it. Without words it said something like "holy crap I just killed my R34 GTR". haha. But we were all pretty sure what had happened. Yeah apparently he was in a good mood that day too. Check out Greg's face in that pic. hahah. Finally, thanks to all the participants. I'm glad you had a good time. I think we are on to a winner with regards to format. It was a fun and relaxing day. Heaps of laps available to all. I am personally happy with hand timed laps as we're not in it for sheep stations. With official lap timing comes more regulations and no passengers. All of you who took out an experienced driver now know the benefits of instruction. All in all, a good social SAU event and to my mind a total winner!

I'm working on it. BTW cost to install clutch line is $160. That's including the fluid.

Not quite as often as Slim but I get one off at least once a year! haha

Mona you should follow Krystle's example. There is nothing to be scared of. If worried about your car, turn boost down. If worried about losing it, it doesn't matter, nothing to hit. If you're worried about Shonen beating you at something, let his tyres down.

I stayed to the end. The cops left after a while. Didn't hassle anyone.
-
Nil You'll have to get a wakefiled licence. Guys, Gates open at 8 am and it's going to be busy so get there early as you can.
-
Everyone left for no reason. The cops didn't event attempt to pull anyone over, they were just there to make sure no one did anything silly.

Go Dave. Big effort queenslanders! Is anyone going to UAS for supplies tomorrow morning before the track? If so maybe you could pick something up for me and bring it down.

In honour of the DECA Fun Days the SAU Vic Club put on we are having our own event. Ours is called a Texikhana. In Victoria they all drive up from Melbourne on a saturday to Sheparton which is a country town a couple of hours away. They get drunk, eat dinner and generally have a good time. On sunday they wake up and do the event, after which they all trudge home happy. We are planning to use the Sutton Road complex near Canberra which is about 3 hours away from us. We have found accomodation nearby for around $30 a head so don't let the whole overnight thing get you down. The event itself consists a wet skid pan and a dry skid pan with changing courses on each. Cones are set up and you have to go around them in the right way without hitting them and then stop in what's called a gate (a car sized rectangle). You get timed and get time added if you hit cones. At a motorkhana these courses get quite intricate and people in Skylines will lose every time to those strange people who have dedicated motorkhana cars due to our long wheel bases. Our courses will be much bigger and open to put the balance back in our favour. Here is Bass Junky showing how it's done. I am told that tyre wear is surprisingly little despite how it looks. As well as these type of courses, Sutton Road has a race track. It has trees near it so we will be using chicanes to slow everyone down. We will be doing flying laps throughout the day. Towards the end of the day we will move into Battle Mode. Basically cars go out on the skid pan in pairs doing an identical course. First one back wins. No hitting cones allowed. The basic gist is that it's a fun day with a little bit of friendly competition thrown in. I've heard that some Victorians are more interesting in looking cool on the skid pan than getting a good time but how you attack it is up to you. Now, the Victorians take 55 cars and it gets booked out pretty much on the day they open for entries. They run 4 per year so you can see that it's a seriously popular event. They charge $75, but we are looking around $100 cos we don't know how popular it will be up here. We will put the price down if it looks like our numbers are good. So cost is $100 to enter, about $30 accomodation, plus whatever you and your car eat and drink. The reason I'm posting all this up is to get an idea of who would be interested. It will be on September 16. I believe that some Victorians are planning on driving up to participate (and probably kick our arses) as a few of us have gone down and participated in theirs. If we do it just as good as them then it will be a sellout. It's fairly easy on the cars cos the runs don't go for very long so no overheating. Whaddayathink?

That's your stock ecu retarding the timing. It's normal.

We need someone to takes Dave's spot now.
