Not saying that the microtech wouldn't be better in a number of ways but it's a bit disingenuous to suggest that the price would be the same. Purchase price? Installation cost? Tuning? Total must equal well more than $1710. I think this whole argument is going come back to horses for courses where previously PFC was the solution for many courses, now you will have to plan ahead better and choose the approptriate ECU for your situation.

One easy way would be a smoke test but I don't know how to do that at home without a smoke machine.

I had a Powerplay ROM tune for a fair while, two actually. I got them cos I had an auto R34. The first got me from 162rwkw to 189rwkw but was faster than the raw numbers represent. This stage was the best value and the one I would most recommend. That was stock turbo and full exhaust. Second stage was highflow turbo and 480cc injectors. Got 228rwkw at 0.9 bar. I passed an R34GTR down the Eastern Creek straight (only just) that had been tuned (PFC) the day before at Croydons and had 250awkw. I got fairly poor fuel economy with this tune. Next I put some Tomei Poncams in and without a retune and at the same boost I got 255rwkw. It ran ridiculously rich in the midrange and was pretty bad on fuel too. Then I did a manual conversion with PFC, running 1.3 bar and getting 272rwkw. In short, with stock turbo at stage one I think it was worth the money. Also, I got the very first one. I'm sure they would have refined it since then.

Unique Auto Sports are not too far away and would be quite capable of doing this for you. Unigroup don't do mechanical work as a general rule.

Well if you need any help dealing with the cops or the other guy send me a pm. Especially if you are writing something down yourself or giving a statement. You might like me or someone to come with you to keep an eye on things. I would still forget about sourcing the parts yourself although I have indicator lenses and a radiator if you need it. I think a mate of mine has a spare bonnet too. Yes straight on. The exhaust housing is slightly smaller but that wont affect fitment.
