  1. For street or track? I would not go over 130 on the track but prefer to keep it to 110 max. On the street 70 to 90.
  2. I would recommend Bel Garage to get it done. Maybe $100.
  3. There are a lot of workshops to choose from in Sydney. Do a search, particularly in the NSW section of the forum. Nothing I could say about Advan hasn't been said above already, I've never heard of Gavin Woods.
  4. One 16" will pull much more air than 2 x 12" every time. No contest whatsoever.
  5. That's Parramatta Nissan mate. The club has a discount with them. Also they will post stuff to you if you ask. And, Justjap will sell them and post them to you no probs.
  6. I don't think a low temp thermostat will help much. It might delay the overheating slightly but it's inevitible. Your radiator and fans as they are can only do so much cooling. I would replace the radiator if I was you but if you want to go thermo then go for one 16" rather than two 12". It pulls a lot more air. Supercrap have them for about $90 at the moment. Dunno how good they are though.
  7. No you don't but there will be a member price and a (higher) non member price.
  8. If you think it's pretty likely then best to get one beforehand. Surely you can do it without going out there? Try contacting WSID directly. Don't mention it's a Skylines day, say it's the V8 owners day. We don't want to flag ourselves too brightly with them.
  9. Maybe Andrew and Jess can be your pit crew. They can drive you and that gets Andrew the photographers spot he wants. I'm pretty sure it has to be street registered Neil but I'll check.
  10. Are you sure Neil? I thought that hill climb was in Tasmania.
  11. 2rismo might chomp his own pb, but then again, he might run flat 13's all day. like me... j/k I would love to get a pb and I will be trying hard. BTW guys, don't delay on payments, we are sharing this day with the V8's and it's first come first served. They have had the event announced a month earlier than us so off to around a 30 car head start. Don't miss out by assuming you can pay much closer to the day. This event WILL sell out.
  12. Cost will be under $150 entry fee. Maybe much less. Not 100% on this yet. Also need either a Wakefield licence (get on the day, passengers need them too) for $50 which lets you drive that track for 12 months, OR a CAMS L2S licence which you get through the club weeks beforehand. L2S costs $85 a year but lets you come to the many L2S days at all the tracks, not just Wakie. Neither of the licences are issued by us but you do need one of them.
  13. I think that might be possible although you've just reminded me. I've started organising an SAU drift day and I've gotta chase someone up.
  14. Sure you can man.
  15. Posted by 2rismo in the members only thread: Correct. Good.
  16. Nothing under 11.00 means as soon as you go under that you are booted. Normal street meet rules apply in the sense that you need a Superstreet licence to go faster than 12.00 (I think, can the drag racing experts please confirm?) but you don't need to be tech inspected to go that fast. That said; there's not that many 10 second cars around and they will most likely know you and unless you can provide a valid reason why you wont be running that fast you wont be allowed to race at all. For instance, saying you are practicing launches and will get off at half track is not ok. Saying you normally run NOS to get 10's but wont be on this day so expect 11's will be ok. 17. Natsoft. The issues are twofold - one - it messes with insurance when you have official lap timing, two - it's expensive.
  18. We will be most welcoming to the newbies. There is likely to be 4 groups each based around your lap times so for eg: Group 1 - newbies Group 2 - 1:18 - 1:15 Group 3 - 1:14 - 1:12 Group 4 - 1:11 and faster Bear in mind that there will be no official timing but I'm sure we can get some people on the wall with stop watches and there may be a portable lap timer or two around to borrow. This means you have to honestly estimate your time in order for us to group you.
  19. Get a spectator to drive it for you. Think outside your house...
  20. Most people say Harley's are unreliable and expensive (in bike terms) to maintain and modify. The Harley I rode broke down twice the day we were riding. Anyway, I ended up with my TDM850 and am very happy with it.
  21. We are 90% certain this will be the date. More details to come on cost etc. but shouldn't be too much. Also we are running it as a driver training day, meaning that passengers are allowed all day. This will be good for people needing some instruction. You can have an experienced person in the passenger seat giving you some tips then you can go out in their car as passenger to see what they do. I want a big showing for this. If you only go to one track day this year, make it this one. It's going to be a big social event with great fun racing as well. I want all you newbies out there taking advantage of the instruction available because you don't get opportunities like this anymore. When I started doing track days about 3 years ago, passengers were allowed most of the time, now it's rare. With this in mind we have secured some insurance that basically lets us do what we want. The other people that I really want there are the club elders, the guys with heaps of experience and fast cars. We need you guys to be our instructors. No doubt there will be a bunch of people going down the night before for some cheap accomodation and frivolity. Post your interest in here. Please read this and follow the instructions! Entry will be $150 per car for SAU club members and $160 for non members. Entry price includes a long sleeve track day t-shirt. You need either a CAMS L2S licence or a Wakefield Licence. The CAMS one costs $85 a year and is used on most tracks around the country for a number of different kind of events (particularly the L2S open days that a number of us go to quite regularly) and must be purchased before the event. You need to be a member of a CAMS affiliated club, like SAU, to get one of these too. The Wakefield licence costs $50 a year and is available on the day from the track. It can only be used at Wakefield. Please note that any passengers will also require one of these licences. You will also nee a helmet, long pants and long sleeve shirt (shirt supplied!). 22. Don't need a licence.
  23. We reschedule if it's cancelled the day before. Once we get there though, we race. If it rains then, we lose.
  24. The other thing I've worked out is that if you are coming to a slow stop using the rear brake then put your right foot down, you wont actually come to a stop. I remember riding my push bike around with a my sister once and she stopped but for some reason didn't take her feet off the pedals. She sort of wobbled there for a second then crashed sideways into a handy bush. I pissed myself laughing. I hope I don't do that on the motorbike one day.
  25. That doesn't sound like enough of each mate. You you need ten or so at least.
