I'm never going to drive in the rain.
-
I've found the complete opposite. They issued the temp permits almost without question. I think the uncomplied thing was your problem. It's piss easy, and surprisingly cheap, to get a unreg permit to drive the car from one state to the next. They give you 7 or 10 days I think. You don't need a pink slip (RWC) to get it either. I would expect you would need a Victorian RWC to get it registered down there once it arrives. Also you can get the unreg permit from your Victorian equivalent of the RTA before you even come and pick the car up.
-
Car needs to be registered. Very similar rules to a wednesday night street meet except no cars faster than 11.00 In other news it looks like we will be organising some class based grudge matches. The basically stock v8's run similar to Skylines with stock turbos. Someone remind me not to get into a smoking match with them again.
-
I'm not particularly into it but it's good to know what the car is capable of.
-
I'm going to get a new bonnet with a hole in it.
-
I've got a spare Nissan original one lying around if you need it mate. Will swap for beer or bj's.
-
Spotted a white R34 on Military road last night. I think it had a black boot and mayby bonnet too. Not sure if he was trying to drag me but I was on my bike so... Sounded very nice as it went down towards the Harbour tunnel.

Ok first post updated with details. $210 to play. Full payment in one go please. I'm sick of chasing people for second payments. The day looks like being a sell out so don't delay too much. Refunds for cancellations will only be paid when there is someone to take your spot. That seems safe at this stage though.

My Rebuild And What I've Found Out.
Abo Bob replied to Abo Bob's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Nismo one way from an R33. Very second hand. I don't think there is any other way apart from a replacement centre. -
Rules are usually that each entrant can bring 4 or 5 people. These people must be named prior to the day. This means no probs for non driving SAUers to come and watch. Sam - you've got 2 months to get two bushes, you can do it.
-
Whoops, yes it sunday. Yes official SAU event. You will get a time slip after every run. My glove box was full of them last times I went. Yes at WSID. I'm sure we can get you in Ben. Sam - who needs bushes? You drive it on the street...

Well we have managed to get ourselves a drag day on Sunday 25 March running up against the V8 Owners club. Should be heaps of fun. There will be a DYO session after lunch for those who need the practice. Cost will be between $200 and $220 I think (Gotta confirm this). Cars cannot go quicker than 11.00 sorry. The idea is, for those who haven't been to one of these, we have the whole day at the track and a maximum of 50 cars running. This means that during some parts of the day you can literally do a run then come back down the return road and go straight back in without even lining up. I have done a few of these days and I think my record is something like 37 passes in one day. I know a few of you may point to the cost compared to a wednesday night street meet but this wins hands down. You get many more passes, even on a pass per $ ratio you are better off. Also you get a chance to practice without waiting an hour in between runs. I'll let you know how we are taking payment shortly but for now, post your interest and questions. For newbies, it's a perfect start. Plenty of people around to help with advice, plenty of time to race, no pressure to get going quickly, etc. What else can I say? I'll be there! EDIT**** The Skylines Australia bank account details are as follows: Bank - NAB Branch - Marrickville Account name - Skylines Australia NSW BSB - 082 356 Account number - 546 393 766 Cost is $210 Please put your full name in the description. If you are depositing at a branch (how quaint ) then make sure you put your name on the deposit form (I know there is a spot for it on there somewhere) and ask the teller to enter it so he/she doesn't forget. When you have done all this email me at - bob at estc dot net dot au - with your internet banking receipt or date and branch of deposit. Please include in the email: Full name - User name on the forums - Mobile Number - Amount paid - Copy and paste the above to make it easier for me. Important - You will not be confirmed until a deposit has been made. Thank you. Another edit*** $210 to play. Full payment in one go please. I'm sick of chasing people for second payments. The day looks like being a sell out so don't delay too much. Refunds for cancellations will only be paid when there is someone to take your spot. That seems safe at this stage though. Another edit*** No cost for spectators. BTW bikes are allowed. You can bring a second car for free but only you are allowed to drive your car/s. We can arrange phone calls on the morning for those traveling a long distance to the event. Where it rains during the event before lunchtime and the track declares it a washout, a pro-rata refund applies. Where it rains after lunchtime and is declared a washout, no refund applies. I spotted a yellow R34 GTR and a red GTT in the Nasho on the weekend. Also spotted a black R34 GTT in Gosford on friday.
-
Yeah that's true. I ended up getting a Yamaha TDM850 and when I go through a cars blind spot I usually give it a squirt which makes it louder and hopefully brings me to their attention.
-
Yeah I've been a bit slack getting it off the ground but it will happen. Should be able toa annouce the details in the next couple of weeks.
-
I had a good time. Thanks everyone.

I'm sure they'll let one person eat off the a-la-carte menu although I think it's a bit rude of them to insist we go banquet I'm not personally fussed. BTW I don't like olives or peanut butter or guiness.

Need Insurance? Want Cheaper Insurance?
Abo Bob replied to two40's topic in General Automotive Discussion
I'm with Shannon's and they've been fine and well priced so far although I might do some research on Ryno next time it's due. I was with Famous and had a claim through them. I wasn't entirely happy with the way they handled the claim but as for them being an offshore company and all that, it was never an issue and I think it's highly unlikely to ever be one unless there was some massive spate of car jackings or something, like a few a week with no recoveries for about a year or more. Basically it doesn't make business sense for them to deny our claims and use the offshore loophole to get out. If they did, someone might sue the Australian directors of the broker personally or something like that. Also, word would get out and they would have no new business. Finally, they take premiums in the full expectation that they will have to make payouts. Basically it was a no fault of mine accident but I felt they seemed to be screwing me over on several little things, in particular my wheels. It is all subjective however, and I might have got the same treatment or worse from any other company. The only other time I've ever had to claim I was uninsured and claimed directly with the persons insurance company that hit me. It was GIO and apart from a dodgy claims officer, everyone else in the company I dealt with was great. -
Like I said man, I had a legit reason not to be there and am happy to pay my share for food as I had previously told you I would be there.

Whoops. Forgot to check back here. Doodz very kindly msn'd me and got me all the info I needed. Thanks anyway though guys. I appreciate it.

Just Engine Management - Dyno Day & Group Buy - Coming Soon 2007
Abo Bob replied to QRI05E's topic in Events Archive
You can't pick two of the choices the way you set the poll up. What kind of dyno do they have? -
Ahh I had nearly forgotten about this. I had an appointment from today go over to tomorrow so I cant come Danny. I will put some money in you account to cover the food cost. Oh also the appointment involves MR 32 so he wont be coming either and I think AMY33 wont come because she was coming with us.

I'm happy with the cheap one but will fit in with whatever.
