I'm still trying to find a wiring diagram of R33's that show airbag wiring, but i can't track one down, can anyone help?
I'm pretty sure just pulling the fuse should be enough Ant... But if you want to disable permanently since you do most of your driving on the track, then maybe you should unplug the airbags completely, it's pretty easy i can help you out if you need.
I'm looking to replace mine but not hook it up, Airbags scare me now. And it wasn't even me driving!
Same, gotta love the noise a nice V8 makes.... and the instant throttle response....
Gotta love the high reving RB turbos and the top end power you can get.
To me it's more about the whole car as a package than just the engine. A GTR as a package just has it all compared to most other cars.
My mate has an E39 M5 (4.9ltr V8) and i love the sound of that thing. Plus it looks good, handles good, and stops good. But the GTR is just on a whole other level.
Let me drive the ones you have and I'll tell you what to keep
But here are my non-driven guesses of what to keep/get
GT2, GT3, 430, M3, M6, R35 GTR, DBS, Vanquish, Gallardo
They could of put it up against something else at the track, or timed it at showed it against other cars times in its range, or even raced it against that R33 GTR they had at the start - what was the freaking point of showing that R33 GTR at the start?!?
Wow from what i saw the crash didn't look that bad, and the impact was on the passenger side.... Even with all their safety gear and emergency personal around, this can still happen, brings you back to reality a bit.
RIP.
Naa no accidents.... Well not while i've had the car, and i've done plenty of DECA and Track days.... Snowy was doing nothing different to what i've done in the car. And he made a good point, imagine i was doing 200k/h into turn1 at PI and it went off, i'd be dead.
A few things.
1. Anyone got a R33 S2/S3 airbag (with or without steering wheel) they want to sell me?
2. Is it as simple as pulling the airbag fuse at track days to disable it? there is a fuse for it at the right drivers side knee....
3. Has anyone had this happen before? He had hit no cones or anything.... and was doing pretty much the same thing i was doing all day, sideways around cones on the skid pan.....
4. Anyone got any ideas on what i can check to see what caused it? I found some stuff on NS.com about airbag diags etc...
Reseting the airbag light ....
Airbag Diagnostics...
Helps if you have a powerFC - you can see the exact temperature on the hand controller. The stock temp gauge should sit at half way or a touch under, as soon as it gets above that, its to hot.
Yeah it's a trade off between running your car cold on idle for 5mins, or driving your car cold under 3000rpm for 2mins...
Personally i drive below 3000rpm to warm mine up... and never put my foot into it until the oil temp has got above 70.
If you're running street tyres you should be able to get away with a decent set of street/track pads, IE DS2500 or those QFMs....
If you're running semis then i'd suggest running track pads for trackdays. IE DS3000 or Hawk HT10 etc...
As for fluid, Get some of that Motul RBF600 (5.1), it's cheap enough to use, about 25 bucks at a motorbike store
My car is tuned on 98, and i run 98 everyday. For trackdays i run Shell 100RON. Real world results is i get less knock on the track than if i ran 98RON.... little bit of extra protection.
In theory you're right about running a pooftenth leaner... but bottom line is ask your tuner. I know what mine says
Naaa for a set of 2 discs... about 200-250 each disc i think... that's when i priced them when i bought them last year.
Call burons and ask for a price on DBA5000 replacement discs (Without hats) for GTR brembo rotors (324mmx30mm).... You'll get a better price if you can get trade on it.
Yeah they will last ages still... Much better than RDA in my opinion.
DBA will do the replacement discs for them... through anyone who sells DBA discs... Brake places, Repco, Bursons etc..
Give me a call Nick.. i'll pm you my number.
