  1. From a dealership, most are overpriced and definitely not worth the warranty it written on. 12 months to 2 years would be the most you could get out of product and it would have to be Ceramic or Urethane based.

  3. Hi guys, For anyone out there that is not running a cat.... hmmmm. During a SAU detailing day, we tested 7-10 different products and found that one in particular worked extreamly well. P21S Total Auto Wash. Spray on to the area, let it site for 30Sec and wipe with a Microfibre cloth, gone. For a wax there is a Japanese wax we have by Ion Coat called NAVI WAX. It is our best selling wax. There is a light and dark version. Very easy to use. Wet the supplied applicator sponge. Apply to a panel at a time Immediately wipe of the panel with a high quality microfibre. Continue around the car. If you notice any hazing or smearing, go over the car again with a wet microfibre cloth then buff dry lightly with a dry MF cloth. Amazing depth and gloss.
  4. Guys, I deal with and supply hundreds of detailer's throughout Australia through Waxit Car Care. If you need any recommendations I would be more than happy to assist.
  5. I deal with hundreds of Professional Detailers, some of whom I haved train, been asked advice from and developed systems and processes for. I can honestly tell you that there is no way a $250, 400 even 500 detail will match a $1000 highend professional detailer service, obviously there are some out to profiteer at this price point. These are some things to consider when looking for a detailer; Have they worked on your type of paint system, or vehicle in the past or familiar with the differences between certain paint types? Are they using higher end products or bulk finishing and compounding products? Are they going through a full decontamination process to remove any ingrained surface contaminants using specific treatments ie, iron remover, tar & organise fallout remover and claying, rather than just claying. Are they removing previous wax and polish residue and/or leaving residue in cars they complete? Are they using compound and finishing abrasive polishes that do not contain fillers or harsh solvents as your scratches and marring will reappear? Are Rubbers and plastic trim taped up and protected during the machine polishing process? Are they using glazes to fill and hide and holograms of trace marring from heavier compounding steps? Are they giving you a choice of recommended waxes or sealants based on questions they have asked you as to how you store your vehicle, how you wash it and frequency, how often you would see yourself reapply a protective wax or sealant Do they guaranty there work? Can they provide a refferal? As Ive mentioned before, some Professionals have to cover a lot of costs at a fixed location and price their work accordingly. Others, such as 'Semi Pro' detailers, who provide these services can sometimes be a better option. Why would a 'Weekend Professional' provide a better service than a full time professional. Passion, this cannot be bought or trained. These guys generally love detailing and strive for perfection. They will use boutique products designed for a specific application and research what is the best products to use on different cars and services. They spend alot of time researching and practising different techniques with many products to achieve the best result. They don't work to the clock. They may only do 1 car a weekend and will generally do more than they have quoted for and on a hourly rate basis are better value at the same or higher quality. If anyone is after any recommendations please let me know as you & your car will be treated with respect, and may even make some new friends. Most of all, call them, don't go by a web site alone weather it be good or bad. Ask them questions and the good ones will be more than happy to spend the time with you to discuss what they recommend for your vehicle based on your criteria.

  9. Detailing can be as intensive as you want it to be. Some just like to give the car a wash, have it nice a clean for when they take it for a drive. Other, like me, like detailing to forget about everything for a few hours and make something perfect. There is a lot of personal satisfaction into making something look good yourself. Its the transformation.
  10. JDM Performance, Your right about that. The product I recommended called Ceriglass does contain cerium oxide as well as nano abrasive acting as a lubricant.
  11. Hi , If your water marks are on the surface of the glass you can remove them using a product by CarPro called Ceriglass. This a Cerium Oxide based product mixed with a nano polish to allow it to work by machine or with the applicator in the kit. I have removed not only water marks but seriously deep windscreen wiper scratches on glass with this and a polisher. Definitely worth a try. Click Here for more info.
  12. iwanta34gtr, Hi mate, we are having a detailing workshop in Sydney on the 4th Feb. Why dont you come down and I can show you how it works before you buy one. Its only $30.00 to come along and to Book click here
  13. Jason, Sorry to let you down mate, but you really wont be able to perform any paint correct with that type of polisher. IF you are on a budget, get a Random Orbital Sander with a 150mm plate from bunnings. Although this will not have the power of the Concours 900w Random Orbital Polisher (@$229) we sell, you could get one or two pads for $20 each and a I step product for $30. IF you would like any advice let me know. Im guessing this will not be the only car you ever polish, and I hate to see you waste money on something that wont do the job for you.. IF the budget is really tight, find a few mates and go in together. Otherwise once they see your car you will have to do it.
  14. Hi, If you have a foam gun accessory for your high pressure washer, I would mix 1/4 car wash, half of that again with an all purpose pH neutral cleaner and rest water. Foam the car and let it dwell. This will soften the polish specs. High pressure rinse, then wash the car with normal car wash. If they are still there you can lightly clay or wipe the car down with a solvent like Prepsol. This should remove them and be alot quicker than going over the car again with a polisher.

  16. hi Both the Festool Random Orbital and Rotex can do wonders to your paint finish. You can use either one, however make sure you get the right combination of pads and compound or finishing polish to complete the job.
  17. Hi, a general rule to work out if your car is clear over base or has a clearcoat is to see if it has metallic paint. From what you are describing in the rough surface of the paint, this would be surface contamination, made up of iron, tar, inorganic contaminants. You can remove all of these easily yourself with a few products. 1. Wash you car to remove all the dirt from the surface. Then dry the car 2. Spray CarPro Iron X - Iron Fallour Remover pH Neutral on your paint and wait for 5-10 minutes. Be sure to do this in the shade. You will notice any iron particles in the paint turning purple. 3. Hi Pressure wash the car and dry it. 4. Use a tar remover like CarPro TarX, Wax & Grease Remover or Tarminator as per direction on the vehicles sides. 5. Wash again. 6. Using a clay bar and lubricant spray, spray the paint surface with the lubricant and gently rub the clay over a section until you can feel the surface perfectly smooth. Move to another section and repeat. Your car is now decontaminated and ready for Paint Correction and Enhancement to remove any swirls, marring and scratches and increase gloss and colour. Then you can move on the protecting what you have just done with a wax or synthetic protection.
  18. If you are looking for a Random Orbital that has interchangeable backing plates and more power that the GEX150T but costs $229 you might want to look at the Concours 900 Polisher at Waxit Car Care. You can also find a range of kits to go with the Concours 900 Polisher HERE.

  20. Hi all, Im going to get too involved in this as Damian & Elise are both friends of mine also. Seal is a good product, it has ease of use and durability. If you are happy using it then that is great. There are however some other sealant options out their there that can offer the same if not better durability and as well as giving more of wax wet look to the paint. Some of the these include Zaino Z2 Pro - Great for light coloured cars as it is optically pure, meaning their are no tinters in the product to alter the colour Zaino Z5 Pro - Great for both Light & Dark coloured cars. Has slight tinters that will give a warmer look to paint. Both the Zaino products above can be used with ZFX - an accelerator that speed up the bonding and curing times, allowing you to apply 3 coats of sealant in one day. Wolfgang Deep Gloss Sealant 3.0 - This sealant will give you great durability however will give a much wetter look to you paint. Great for dark coloured Cars. For the next step up in durability you get to CQuartz by CarPro. CQuartz applies a think layer of coating to your vehicle and improves the hardness of you paint to 7H (HARD), which reduces marring in you paint. IT can be used on paint, wheels, plastics, trim and glass. It will last up wards of 12 months. The look that if gives is hard to describe, it resembles a fresh coat of clear coat on your vehicle. It accentuates the curves, improves depth of the paint but at the same time will not dull any of the metallic. A little more fidelley to apply however the results are worth it for the way it makes washing your vehicle so easy.
  21. Hi Guys and Girls, I made a promise to one of the SAU VIC members that if we could use his car as a demonstration vehicle at a recent detailing Clinic for SAU members, I would detail up the car for him. Well, lucky for me (and him) he took the bait and we finally got round to doing the car a few months ago. So here we go... First we foamed the car with CarPro Iron X Soap Gel to break down any contaminants on the paint surface and dissolve any iron fallout embedded in the paint. We didn't just use Iron X as we wanted to give the car a good clean at the same time. Here it is left to dwell and do its thing on the vehicle. The car was then clayed to remove any residue contamination and make the paint feel silky smooth. Next was a proper wash using a variety or brushes to get out any old wax and polish left from previous Detailers. The car wash then foamed again, this time with a mix of All Purpose Cleaner and Car Wash to strip off any remaining waxes and protection on the paint. We dried up the car and masked it up to protect rubbers, edges of panels and other delicate parts of the car. Now we can see the Swirls that we hiding under the contaminants and old protection layer. The car was then polished using a rotary polisher, Lake Country Kompressor Pads and Menzerna Polishes. Here is the front quarter straight after the paint correction and jeweling step. We then applied Wolfang Deep Gloss Sealant 3.0 to give both protection and warm glow to the finish. This looked good but we wanted more depth out of this custom respray so we then topped the sealant with Pinnacle Signature Series 2 Wax.
