  1. Webber was within seconds of 1st place when he got in for that final stint
  2. 22hrs into the 24hr race. apparently the combustion engine let go. I'm yet to read reports but that's what was said on the broadcast.
  3. The porsches were developed specifically for the le mans circuit. They are expected to be quick there.
  4. It's absolutely bucketing down at the moment with the forecast telling much of the same all day. Wouldn't be surprised if it gets shitcanned
  5. Neil, I've got some family coming over during the day but I'll be sure to come out and pay you a visit. Should I bring a 6 pack of VB's?
  6. This saturday? or sunday? usually on a sunday?
  7. that was all revealed early in the season with the way the intake and exhaust of the turbo's were mounted in the mercs. It allows for much improvement in weight distribution and aero on the rear end.
  8. Sounds like a case of steve bradbury then?
  9. Watched spa in fast forward yesterday morning. speed HD coverage is tops.
  10. Wasn't saying they are new, but they were in development by BRV and Mercedes Ilmor, and were proven in both motorcycle and F1 engines to work, in practice.
  11. along that line of topic, I went to a presentation by the engineer (Tony Wallis) who designed the Bishop Rotary Valve for F1 Merc engines...but was subsequently written out of the rules, apparently due to renaults influence on the matter. interesting design if anyone wants to look into it. Beats poppet valve, pneumatic or otherwise hands down. A links for those interested. http://home.people.net.au/~mrbdesign/PDF/AutoTechBRV.pdf
  12. what a great drive. also. this. and this. and...watching the mercs run each other was good. actually, seeing all the teams run against themselves was pretty good to see. Mercs must be $1.01 to win WDC and WCC by now.
  13. WP and IE are not though.
  14. that's what I was thinking also - it's also got a higher clock speed...so the apps that are running will have more each.
  15. I know it seems obvious but I've always bought intel just a run of the mill laptop used for basic applications, word, excel, net browsing - both the same price both the same body....these are the differences. Intel® Core™ i5-3210M (2C, 2.50GHz, Turbo Boost to 3.10GHz) 6GB DDR3 RAM 500GB SATA HDD OR AMD® APU A8-4500M (4C, 1.90GHz, Turbo Core 2.80GHz) 8GB DDR3 RAM 750GB SATA HDD
  16. was it Clarkson that said - when they're making good street cars, they're going crap at F1 and vice versa?
  17. Just to be clear, total fuel capacity limits and fuel flow rate limits are two different measures.
  18. limiting the amount of energy going in limits the energy going out. what matt said above is very true
  19. merc had the same issues but changed their fuel mapping when asked to. redbull didn't... it's pretty clear, regardless of their measures being claimed to be more accurate or not. I don't see the FIA conceeding and making their fuel meter supplier and themselves look like fools.
  20. still can't pedal because fuel.
  21. I'm sure I heard they don't use a wastegate...
  22. can't go higher revs, they'll use to much fuel.
  23. There is a lot of talk that Merc pretty much came back into the fold just for these new regs/tech, and have been spending big dollars or R&D since back then.
