Exactly it can be even cheaper if you pull the engine out yourself and you buy the parts that you want to put in it..

Its still no better here in the eastern states "NSW" Cops are still uneducated on defecting components and most of us stay off the streets and take it to the track It's actually worse cause if your car isnt how it came out from factory its illegal! they take photos of you car here and document what they defect you on so if you get pulled over again with same mod you're in big trouble

Exactly what I said..But it is scary for the people that are used to this sort of work Also why does everyone think a GTR rebuild is $10K?? That with expensive parts and for high power...

This thread is never going to go well due to there are people that sit on two sides of the fence. Even if you do talk to one cop "Neil" it doesnt change the fact that the rest of the police force in SA will start thinking the same..When they pull you over they do so on there own judgement! All modifications are illegal due to the car didnt come out with them from factory so if you modify you run the risk.. I have learnt like Martin you cant win and the safe way to go is get a daily car and take your hi powered car off the streets - to Drags or Track!

I think you need to take your own advice on some other topics. I think change is great but it all last awhile and then goes back to the same old system.. A few of us have been around for a long time in the car scence and have seen this all before.. When I see the changes then I will believe!

Crack her open..See how bad it is Get the crank out and take it to a machine shop and ask them if they can fix it?

The head might need to be decked and cleaned out but thats all unknown until it gets pulled out..Not major they just shave the bottom of it where it sits on the block for the head gasket.. Is this your first rebuild? If you're mate is a mechanic I would get him to pull the engine out and open it up and see how bad it is..Go into the build threads here on SAU in the motorsport section and forced induction. You have to look at it before you do anything...how loud was the knock?? how long has it been knocking?

What number bearing?? Have you tested and seen the crank yet..sometimes they can be saved! Why dio you need a head recon Honing of the bores is standard in a rebuild.. I would definately crack it open and see how bad it is..either way you will be rebuilding that engine or buying another one to put in..

Ok I dont know the full story...But how bad is your engine???? Cheapest option would be to just throw some new pistons,rings and bearings in her.. Depending on how bad the crank is would need a linish and crack test atleast and maybe hone the bores Just becasue you throw "standard items" back in doesn't mean it's not strong..It cant handle stupid power but a fresh rebuild sells GTRs quicker than a engine being put in that you dont know what's in inside it! Also while its open I would throw a sump baffle in it and the oil restictor in the head This way you can sell off your aftermarlet parts as well..

Thought it was awesome!! Much better than I expected for such a small space ..I now have a T shirt saying " I AM THE STIG" its a lot to live up to but its possible Our session got the 2nd highest score in the Video game lap too...I was at the 11am Saturday show.. I was screaming my little head off

Ok bumping this thread... It's now February and I got promied that AIR was going to have stuff up and running in January.. Guys any news? P.s Shame Brett Stevens wont be coming to SA town again..Best Times watching him at AIR and the shennanigans he preformed *spelling*
