Bb core possible rebuild or replace the whole chra
-
Apparently crd but f..k knows how I'm told enzed have them I will do some checking as I won't get my turbos back till end of week due to transport so I really need to install them this weekend so it's prob better to find a banjo that fits 10mm? Then weld a drill it as u said but I'd prefer to pay you to do that tbh
-
Supposedly they one on the block is marked j or m can't remember but I have that any chance if you modding a couple of the oil pressure feed banjo for me? As I like your style
-
Both turbos acted exactly the same some oil in front of compressor and some spitting from the outlet. This restrictor thing is crazy though u got anyone down there Scotty that makes them? Up here this stuff and id2000 injector seals etc is a big hush hush as u know. Scott

Thanks mate but I've already sent them to rotomaster as I had a good feeling from him

Ok what a day I've had chasing this, no one in Sydney has cores or turbos for sale but repair if they do is $1150 ea, called crd to see if they had any and or restrictors which I was told is basically info they keep to themselves. Jez gave me rotomaster in Vic contact and they have new -5 for $1060 ea in gst but on the 2nd call to arrange it the guy asked about why etc and he severely doubts water would cause it so will inspect them and repair of my cores if possible with re balance etc around $500 ea or with new cores assembled and posted $760 ea. with restrictor it seems ppl get the upper banjo for stock applications from enzed etc weld them up and drill a .040 hole in it although there is a inbuilt one garrett recommend no more than 65psi max into their cartridges . The guy down there was very very helpful and probably the only person with stock of new turbos and replacement cartridges so a+ for rotomaster . Oh and it can be normal without balance pipe on for bb turbos to push oil oil due to imbalance pushing shaft slightly to one side which moves the circlip and they will leak, also hyper gear can re do them with bush bearings for $700 I hope all This today will help Someone in the future feel free to pm anytime for more info. Scott

Oh and I meant surely someone has rebuilt -5's before to give me an idea of cost not my turbos themselves
-
I should clarify, I really believe they need restrictors if standard oil pump but the garrett web site says oil should enter at 40-45 psi into the turbos my engine is nearly 40psi at idle and at 1500 would have been over the recommended limit but I will speak to garrett today about replacement chra.
-
I'm sure someone has rebuilt them before? I will call garrett at chipping norton in the morning cause I think maybe gcg gave me bad advise
-
It's standard oil and water lines which were clear and functioning as it was spitting oil out so it was coming from feed lines, I have installed 3 sets of non bb turbos on a few 26's before the only variable would be a restrictor which most say is not required but maybe oil pressure pushed the seal out to cause the problem or they were faulty in some way before as they were 2 nd hand but were only run at just above idle I guess I'm lucky they didn't fail on the dyno
-
Anyone know what -5 cartridges cost?
-
Yep there's a good chance they were buggered I guess I wondered why he took them off so early but they did look new in every way and span when and could hear them spoiling down even from idle but no they are like bush bearing they spin but not like they used to. Scott

Just finished pulling turbosff and they are stuffed I think it's my fault due to water which is worst part, oh well lesson learnt I guess
-
Only other thing I just thought of as its not tuned and plugs are pretty black Amy chance of fuel exiting exhaust chambers? It has 2200 cc injectors
-
Into engine bay from turbo outlet as cooler wasn't attached and its 100% from turbos as no breathers connected to turbos either
-
It's in pieces now, just normal install retaining factory pipes etc, I'm thinking maybe it got too hot and cooked seals?
-
Yes sorry about that my head is a bit scrambled these days but yes that's correct just enough oil to mess up my clean engine bay not sure what's normal with these bb turbos
-
Anyone?

Hi guys, So as some of you may know I've been doing bits and pieces on my car while I recover from a brain tumor. Anyway I installed -5 turbos all new gaskets and what turned out to be a shit split dump pipe, so I did that all with the engine out of car all new gaskets studs etc. it now has adaptronic ecu that jez will tune but I wanted to run it at idle to leak check before I trailer it up there. So the first time it took a few days to get it to idle and found two copper washers leaked which were new, fixed that and noticed exhaust leak from split pipes where I didn't put the bolt the retains the separation plate for stock turbos, so I installed a bolt while I had the twin turbo pipe off and was listening for another exhaust leak which I believe to be from the split dump flange itself. So I had to muck around a bit to get to to idle for a while less than 10 mins when I noticed steam due to the fact the water lines were off while I was fixing these pissy leaks. Long story short there was oil sprayed from where the twin turbo pipe attaches on both turbos so I don't really know the history of them but they are supposed to be 2000ks old which they do look like, anyway have I cooked the seals? Is it normal for some oil? Or the other thing is pressure reducer I rang gcg twice and they said I did t need one but regardless my banjo is marked j which is supposed to be r34 stock reducer? Any thoughts guy? Btw I comp tested engine and its all around 160psi each cylinder on forged engine with cams etc and I am going to buy proper dumps and piss those shit split pipes off even though they were Aussie made :-( it never went over 2k rpm and don't forget the brain tumor lol. They should remove the dowel pins and machine the whole thing, if not i would be a little worried about clamping force being affected. Scott -
