Hey Pete, yep as per my sig. Mind you, I never had a chance to run with the old 275/40/17 ET Street Radials and put my experience (at the time) into practice with a decent drag radial tyre. I did the 2.051 on the old 275/40/17 Nittos (without doing a decent burnout) which weren't anywhere near as impressive as the ETs. The 265/40/18 isn't the ideal option for drag racing, but I like to do it the hard way... with the car looking pretty in the process (18's as opposed to 15-16's on the rear). I've also replaced almost all of the original suspension components since those old runs back in 2005-2006. I'd estimate an 11.XX something at high 120's now.

Mind you, if someone had given me the opportunity to run the 33 over the quarter mile at any stage in the last 4-5 years, I wouldn't have cared if they gave me the details of my run on a piece of toilet paper and written in crayon... as long as it wasn't used toilet paper.
-
Come to think of it, I should enter the Caldina in the upcoming 1/8 mile event. It would be quicker off the line than the 33 anyway, considerably quicker (mainly because I suck getting out of the hole in the 33).

The limited track prep didn't help though. I can recall, in arse puckering detail, winding on more opposite lock than I was comfortable with in 3rd at ~140km/h just prior to the end of the wall... and all with a lowly 260rwkw. The very next meet I scored an up close and personal view of what a Torrie looks like 6ft in the air and rolling over and over, tearing itself to piece in the process. Thankfully the young lady driving escaped with only minor injuries. Interestingly enough, at the recent Motorplex protest cruise through the CBD I ended up bumping into the owner of the Torrie in his Elfin MS8 (a good mate happens to own one himself). Long term viability is questionable, particularly if more than one venue gets up and running, but the initial impact of a new drag racing facility will be immense! People will come out of the woodwork. Almost 6 years is a long time to wait for those that have gone without... I've even had to get into RC Helicopters and become a complete nerd as my alternative.

Matty, are those the same NT555Rs from some years ago? I guess they've had no additional heat cycles and as long as they've been stored correctly they should come up good as gold. My 265/40/18 MT Street Radial 2 (bought them earlier this year) are sitting in the shed ready to go as soon as a full 1/4 mile track becomes available! Be it Cougar Raceway, Tailem Bend MSP, or a revamped AIR.
-
Purchased early this year, expecting to get access to a 1/4 track... which unfortunately didn't happen. Correctly stored in shed and in perfect condition. Never even test fitted. I paid $390ea (not including freight). Will sell for $290ea. Local pick up (Adelaide) or freight at buyer expense. Photos can be provided if requested - but any photo on the internet of brand new unblemished 265/40/18 ET Street Radial Two is what to expect.

Yep that was me in the Caldy. That one serious looking wing mate... I like it!

Track day out there last year, tidy Datto 1600 destroyed - B pillars about half the distance apart than OEM. A daily driver STI, Integra R and another car I can't recall - might have been an FTO - all major damage, structural, fire wall, etc. A couple of them were minding their own business, wrong place, wrong time.
-
This is a no brainer, one person owns the car and pays the bills for it, the other doesn't... it's like driving a hire car, use and abuse Chef to go 1:18.99 vs Luke 1:19.55 Improved Production record is well below 16's now, Tony Wallis in his Mazda 808 has gone 1:14.97 - control tyre, width and diameter limited rim, and a mere 230ish rear wheel killerwasps.

I can't say I'm a regular in the 'spotted' section, but Luke / Heslo and I drove by each other yesterday arvo at Golden Grove, I was on my way to the footy. Car looks awesome mate.

Well, I'm 4 from 5 so far, bloody Cats ruined any chance of 8. Seems I was right with the Port game, not that it was hard to predict. Not good to see Schultz do his knee, how bad is it, I've not heard? ACL? Davis needed a solid performance and he delivered! Buddy kicked 2 6, I remember him kicking 1 6 against Bock and they raved about Bocky shutting him down. What Davis lacks in pace he makes up for in every other area. Tambling, I wasn't sold on him until tonight, watching him from the sidelines I'm now a believer! We were sitting right in front of where he hit Roughy... awesome stuff! And his fluke soccer to hit a Target, freakish. It's only round one and we got more than a fair run with the ump's for a change, but I like what I'm seeing. Porps shoulder was the lowlight.

Nail biting final quarter for supporters of both sides, but man was it a scrappy game! Ugly footy.

I'll be there on Saturday night, with our regular crew in the members. I've tipped us but not with a huge amount of confidence . Hodge is carrying that achilles injury so that could play into our hands. We need to match them in the middle and contain Buddy. Davis, assuming he gets the job, could be in for a big night! As for Port, a flogging could be on the cards. Pies in fine form, at home, Port missing some quality.

But in a freezing Southern ocean it can really help to warm the inside of your wetsuit, or so I hear. I'd rather a healthy area under the curve at the expensive of peak power than visaversa, both at the same time would be nice but you can't have it all, unless you go to extremes. I dropped exhaust housing size to gain response and mid range and never looked back.

Mt Alma Mile IS a baby EXPO! It's just that the exhibits are a bit more expensive to buy.

Well, I attended (in the Caldina) and did my bit. Something tells me this won't be the last protest event held before we see action.

Prior to news breaking of the upcoming protest cruise during Clipsal weekend, media coverage was limited to a couple of Port Messenger articles. Look at the media interest now, multiple Adelaide Advertiser articles, and TV news coverage. Media coverage, which the Labor Government went to great lengths to prevent not that long ago, has unearthed a split in opinion between federal and state Labor: http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/ipad/federal-state-labor-split-on-racetrack/story-fn6bqphm-1226019439222 It took similar protest action to get a positive result in NSW when drag racing identity Jim Read led a blockade protest cruise through the Sydney CBD, as a result Sydneysiders now benefit from Western Sydney International Dragway... paid for by NSW tax payers', not private investment that would fund the proposed motorplex.
-
A quick reminder that the Adelaide Motorplex protest cruise is occuring tomorrow afternoon, so bear it (and the delay it will cause) in mind if you are heading into or out of the CBD and surrounds from 1730 till 2100 this afternoon/evening.

Nigel, I wish you'd never been put through the experience, and whilst I doubt those found guilty will recieve a just and fair sentence at least you get some piece of mind that they didn't go unpunished. One day these same indigenous 'gentlemen' will borrow something from the wrong people and as a result will never get a chance to go to court, prison, or waste oxygen ever again. Life has a funny way of adjusting those whom wrong. Being in the military I can't help but chuckle at the two petty criminals in the UK who decided to try and mug and bash a couple of unassuming blokes in suits, little did the thugs realise that the suits were actually SAS Trooper Mark Donaldson (Australian SAS and recent recipent of the VC*) and one or two other British special forces vet's. The score... good guys 1 vs. bad guys 0. *The highest military honour/medal possible - for courage under direct fire

Yes mate.

I did some of my 33 interior myself but had everything else done through Exact Fit in Newton - rear seat, roof lining, door and rear inserts, gear and hand brake boots and sun visors (got them to run red stitching) and the parcel shelf with a custom logo. I supplied the material for everything bar the roof lining and visors - I bought the material from Velo when I had my Milano seats made (used the same rolls of red and black that Velo used on my seats). This helped to keep the costs down. The interior was done a few years ago now and I'd have to check to be sure but from memory I paid $1-1.2K for the lot, including all materials (minus the Velo seats). And the quailty of the work is excellent, enough to help the car win awards at Extreme Horsepower 2009, the Skyline Nationals 2010, and recieve a feature in HPI last year. Attached photos are fairly poor quality but it gives a rough idea. For comparision sake, the quote from Willshire would've got half the interior done.

Thanks for the offer, Matt. I'll let you know when it gets closer to the day. I need to convince Kim first. They're not a bad little wagon. N edition is obviously the one you want, with a bunch of TRD suspension upgrades, Torsen LSD, Recaro interior and so on. Handling is their strong point. I've tweaked our N slightly, bit of a play with fuel pressure and extra boost. It still runs the stock exhaust, intercooler, intake, yet I've managed sub 6sec 0-100km/h (5.8) coming off the line with about 10-12psi boost. When it was dead stock, and before I dicovered how to launch it with minimum fuss, the best I could manage was low 7sec 0-100km/h. HPI did a review of the ST246W, in which they claimed mid 8sec 0-100km/h, not sure what happened with the test car but they are much quicker than the article would suggest!

Cool. I'll see if I can convince the missus to part with the Caldy for the day and bring both cars down.
