Good to hear the event was a huge success. Well done guys. Andrew (Nightcrawler) gave me a quick rundown the following night. I wanted to attend but had other commitments I couldn't miss. Keen to attend the next one.

G’day Dave. Thanks for stopping mate. The car checked out okay in the end, looked worse than it was - mostly cosmetic. It was a low speed off which minimised damage. A bruised arm was my only injury. Insurance is sorted and Jase (owner) expects the car back better than ever very soon. Funny thing is, I can honestly say it's not the most exotic/expensive car I've co-driven (or been a passenger in) in an accident - a late model Viper occupies that spot. Heading back from a dyno session at BW yesterday and I spotted/ended up driving alongside Vange on Nth East Rd heading towards TTP. I gave him a wave and received one in return.
-
I should go and say g'day to the current owner, I see it on a weekly basis at work. Good to see it getting regular use, but if it was me I'd probably only take it to work when it isn't pissing down and windy as hell - the place is a muddy/dusty shit hole with all the development occuring at the moment.

It might be the wasteland but that does not mean the basic SAU rules go out the window. Play nice or you will be banned. End of story.

Two.06l Update (twoogle)
whatsisname replied to Swiper the Fox's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Paul, curiosity has got the better of me, would I be on the right track if I said your Strange carbon brakes came 2nd hand via Adelaide? If so they were in my hands not more than a few days ago - as was the new set-up that replaced the Strange gear. If I'm completely off track then feel free to forget I mentioned anything at all. -
No, the GT-R I'm talking about is Pete's (SLED) old grey/bronze R34 GT-R. The white R33 parked at the new Detroit Diesel facility is actually a GTS25t with GT-R front bar and wing. The rims do look good. White on white is always a good combo'.
-
The new owner drives it to work out at the RAAF base most days, or so it seems - I see it parked in the same spot each time I head down that end of the base. I've also noticed the owner isn't afraid to treat it like it was stolen... Pete, if you were one to baby it, then I think it's all grown up now

Well done to all involved in organising and running the dyno day. SAU SA's first genuine club event! The first of many. It was good to see a number of familiar faces, and a few new ones too. I would have liked to arrived earlier but better late than never. I concur with the entrants that raised concerns over the dyno technique used on the day. I have the ability to monitor rough A/FR figures in real time, but even so, the workshop’s equipment would be vastly superior and a much better way to keep an eye on mixtures should an issue occur during a run. All it takes is a lean out due to a simple fuel pump issue, boost/vac’ line leak, and by the time the audible signs of a lean mixture have arrived it may be too late. By monitoring the A/FR the operator can back out of a power run the instant he/she sees the mixture starting to get too lean – I have witnessed this occur at a number of dyno events during the last 10 years. Of course, there is nothing to say the same kind of issue can’t occur driving to the event, but as unfortunate as that is, at least it is clear that the dyno day operator had no part to play in the failure. All that said, the event seemed to be a success and I look forward to attending as many SAU SA events as I can in the future.

Thanks for the info', Chad. I'm running RDA slotted rotors too. I considered the Lenso Type M, they're a good looking rim. In the end though, no dish = no dice I have a feeling Andrew will agree.
-
Agreed Ruby. I managed to tie some red in via the calipers and wheel nuts. Yes mate.
-
I bet they do. Good combo' for the track mate. What rotors are you running and how aggressive are the pads with rotor wear? It probably sounds a bit odd to say the R888 provides more grip than expected, considering they're up there with the better semi-slicks. What I should have mentioned is, the R888 impressed me more than expected considering I swapped them over with a fresh set of MT ET Street Radials. The ET Radial is hard to beat for getting power down, unless it's on a dyno roller! If we get a drag strip up and running in Adelaide again the 265/40/18 ET Street Radials will get to see some action.

Nice Damo, very nice. The black with red line looks great on a white car. You've gone wider than I did too. Looks tough mate. I went a bit tamer and didn't think the black would suit the burgundy/maroon as well.
-
Thanks Andrew. Didn't want anything crazy in terms of fitment, so stuck with mild offset and width. I did want reasonable rubber on the thing though - R888's provide more grip than I was expecting! Really impressed with the new QFM K750 pads too. Switched from Greenstuff to the K750's and what a difference straight up. Did a bit of bedding in and ran some kays on them today and then hit them hard. Even with the braided lines, slotted rotors, and fresh RBF660, I can tell the pads are the big improver. Really liked the sound of your arvo too mate

Pete, don't under estimate Freo playing at home, with Pav firing, and the Freo boys playing for a contract next year. Freo already know they can secure a decent pick so they'll be happy enough to avoid tanking this round. I'd be very worried for Port as they travel west and prepare to face Freo
-
Haha ye of little faith mate! I tipped Port, and therefore got 8 from 8. Port have still only lost one home game in season 2009 - Saints by 66pts. Showdown 27 was an away game for Port. I would have much preferred to get 7 from 8 and watched the Crows get up. Big Ivan needs to watch footage of Jordan McMahon's (sp?) effort after the siren for the Tiges today. That's how you slot them when the game is on the line! I said to a few people about 2-3wks ago, Port will still make the 8. In the remaining 4 rounds they've got 2 winnable home games against the Blues and North, a trip over west to face an unpredictable Freo at home (smashed most weeks, but can put up a challenge at Subie) and you can probably write the Lions at the Gabba up as a loss. I'd say Port will finish 11 11 or 12 10, and with a low %. As for the other potential top 8 contenders (those with 8 wins to date) Bombers are gone, have to beat Saints, Lions, Hawks, and a trip to Subie vs. Freo. Hawks are still in with a decent shot, Saints in Tassie will be tough, but 3 games at the G vs. Crows, Tigers, and Bombers aren't out of the question. If the Hawks can get 3 wins from 4 they'll finish 11 11 and with a low %. Port are in charge of their own destiny from here on in, if they can beat Freo over there then they are in the box seat to hold on to 8th, possibly even move to 7th depending on results of other games. No matter what else happens Crows should secure finals by the end of the game against West Coast at AAMI, but a win next Sat night would be better.

Hey Andrew, sorry mate, I took too long to do everything I had to do this afternoon, so missed out on getting pics during daylight hours Here's the best I could do under the lights of the garage and a Sony DSC-T200 point and shoot: Very sad to hear about the train/car accident too, so young
-
What area did it occur in?
-
Can't argue with that logic mate. I could have lived with some Work rims no worries at all. I had the option to go for brand name wheels and cheaper average rubber, or average wheels and good rubber, the latter option suited me best. $1550 in rubber and about $1400 odd for the rims, anodised wheel nuts, and freight. The XD9 is a nice looking wheel, and even better yet, they are nice and light. Ugly wheels are one thing, but ugly heavy wheels are just poo fullstop. Mind you, some of the quality VIP style wheels are probably lighter than the cheap crap 'race' wheels.
-
Give me a couple of hours mate, got a few jobs out in the backyard to do - mixed in with watching Port try to keep their finals hopes alive - then I'll take some pic's out in the sun... how good is it to see the sun again!? Nice choice on the new car too dude. Yeah I'll be there mate. Had an impromptu game at my house on Fri night actually, 7 of our regular crew rocked up, Trent came along too. Finished $15 up.
-
Yep, that looks nice. Classy and tough all in one.
-
Good to hear mate.
-
It's all a matter of personal preference/taste, but most of those examples look like absolute poo to me! Not a fan of the VIP style wheel.
-
They're not made in China, but they're probably made in Thailand Ahh.. who cares anyway mate? As long as they're reasonable quality (at least with a decent manufacturers warranty) and you like 'em, that's all that matters isn't it? I fitted a new set of rims to my car about a month or so back, Lenso D1R, in Hypersilver. They aren't Japanese brand name wheels, in fact I replaced a set of genuine Volk Rays with them, but they look better than the old VR rims - 18" vs. 17" - and are fairly light weight.
-
That's one tip I really shouldn't have got... damn it! Close but no cigar. Bloody good effort from the Crows, both the senior guys and the young brigade. Reilly's best game in a long time. Stiffy was good too. Good to see Burton back up his effort from last week, with another 4 goal performance. Cats backline is under pressure at the moment and today was our best chance at beating them, with both Scarlett and Taylor out, and Harley a bit out of touch in his first game back from injury - he also copped a knock to the head during the game. So many chances to put scoreboard pressure on them late in the 4th but just could do it - Sellar missing a target, big Ivan missing. As much as the loss will hurt, I think they can still take some positives out of this game. Tonight's game is huge for the shape of the top 4! It's a game the Pies are expected to win, which usually means they lose Don't think the Crows can make it now, I'm tipping we finish 6th at best. I'd like to see the Pies finish 5th, the Hawks sneak into the 8 and go into the finals 8th, and that means Pies play Hawks and go out in straight sets... the Pies are the Hawks whipping boys
-
Tipped the Cats, it seemed like the sensible move. Fair chance the Cats will give the Crows a 40+pt loss. If we can stay within 3-4 goals I won't be majorly upset.
