First in Adelaide, very interesting. What date did get the Microtech installed? As I know another person with the 'first' S1 GTS25t LT12 install in Adelaide.

#official Small Car Sunday Organisation Thread
whatsisname replied to Howie's topic in South Australia
G'day All, My apologies for leaving it until the last minute, but I was holding out in the hope my car would be close enough to complete to enter. Unfortunately it isn't. Hopefully a replacement can be organised in the next day and a bit (if needed?). The SAU display is going to be awesome judging by the info' on this thread - I wish my car could have been there. Best of luck lads. -
Classic Adelaide Prologue Pics 15 Nov 06
whatsisname replied to Nightcrawler's topic in South Australia
Love your work Andrew I notice you got a pic of Tim's RX3 in there - with Tim sitting on the guard no less! Tim and Darren are doing a fine job so far too, up in the top 5-10 outright atm. Not bad for a NA 13B (164rwkw) RX3. What's the go with SS32 on the Sunday. Is the usual Windy Point area open for spectators? As it isn't listed on the CA site. It only goes to SS31. Anyone? -
I have 275/40/17 MT ET Street Radials and a 17x9 rim. The MT Radials replace Nitto 275/40/17. With the above size on a GTS25t you will NEED to lip the rear guards if you want minimal/zero neg' camber.

Will, sorry if my reply above sounded a bit 'smart', upon re-reading it it kinda' sounded like I was being a bit of a smart-arse... I wasn't trying to be mate I 100% appreciate your info', as it prompted me to do even more research. I'm currently waiting on more feedback as to both the legalities and cornering capabilties (of 275/40/17s in particular) from a couple of 'in the know' sources. Will hopefully have a reply COB Monday. Ultimately I will still be using them as my 'everyday' rear tyres - everyday for the Skyline means once a month

Rb 25 Inlet Manifolds. When Do They Cause A Restriction
whatsisname replied to SLIMVLT's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
The old Zoom VR (maybe VS?) Commodore that was mentioned earlier in this thread actually had an RB26DETT plenum adapted to fit the RB20DET head (it was NOT a GReddy unit), totally different runner design, totally different throttle arrangement and most importantly the engine in question was well below the kind of power level were a plenum/inlet manifold was required - no wonder it was a big step backwards! The only thing I can't recall is whether the Zoom Commodore retained the RB26DETT multi-throttlebodies or switched to a single unit? Would you fit a T51 on a basic SR20DET package and expect it to become a brutal power house? Of course not. The 'package' needs to be modified so that everything is working together. -
G'day Will, Yep was aware of that one mate - I have a 'back-up plan'. But I understand your line of thinking. I've actually had a number of first hand reports that have stated they are reasonably capable of coping with semi-spirited cornering - that was the first question I put to the guys using them on the road. As for wet weather use... ~300rwkw, a wet road and RWD don't mix at the best of times. On the RE540s it was easy does it in the wet, on the Nittos it was easy does it in the wet... and the ETs will be no different. I don't like driving the 33 in the wet anyway. It might get dirty! Yeah I was very happy with the price, Adrian. Sorry Sean Conrgat's on the new PB... and your fame in the latest Zoom

Okay, now I know we don't have a functioning drag strip in Adelaide at the moment, but if anyone is keen to get a good deal on a set of MT ET Street Radials, I have just ordered a set of 275/40/17's from A1Performance in WA for a grand total of $265ea (+$30 freight) delivered direct from the warehouse - located on the East Coast. Example of 275/40/17: ) The local prices are mid $300's (for the places I contacted) and Rocket Industries and VPW are quoting $350+. Mickey Thompson's legendary race tire technology comes to the street with the all-new ET Street Radial. Built using the latest in high tech radial construction techniques and years of drag racing experience in compound development, this DOT approved street legal drag radial will get your car down the track in record time and drive you home with sure handling and an excellent ride! The ET Street Radials feature a soft drag tire compound for superior traction on the drag strip and a special sidewall construction for quick launches. Radial body plys for excellent ride control on the street and a low void, directional tread pattern for maximum dry traction. The polyester ply, steel belted gives added strength and durability. Now I just need my car finished and AIR open for drag racing again But in the mean time I'll be using them on the road anyway - at those prices why not!?

My humble apologies to all for the no-show A last minute unplanned 'issue' prevent me from coming to the meet'n'greet. Good to hear it was a great success. Car still isn't ready so I wouldn't have cruised either Sorry to hear about the accident. I wish a speedy recovery to all involved including the GT-R in question.

From the info' I've heard August '06 was to be a 'big month' for the Bob Jane vs. Bill Russo court case - hopefully a positive result isn't too far away. As an interesting aside, my Dad was invited to a dinner earlier this year in Tassie that involved a number of ex-racing drivers - and some current ones. Well blow me down if Dad didn't end up seated next to Jimmy Richards and... cranky old bastard Bob Jane himself! I told the old man he should have told Bob to hurry up and sell AIR so we can have the place renovated! Dad said Bob hasn't changed a bit - he's still a cranky stubborn son-of-a-bitch.

Hi Will (?), I'm fairly sure I PM'd you a few day ago with... 'count me in' - maybe it didn't make it? I'll be there on the day and I daresay my car will still be at the workshop. If the car is ready then I'll put it on the dyno. If you like (and don't mind?) I can pay Shaun tomorrow when I'm at the workshop. Cheers, Matt -
Yeah I dunno' Will, I'm not keen enough to do a road trip just yet. But that might change when my car is finished. Thanks Matty. Good to hear. Yeah for sure... I'm very keen to check out your new weapon in the flesh mate. I've dropped into the odd performance parts business lately - buying this and that - and quite a few of them have had a staff member that's seen or heard about your new 'R. Haha yeah True Joolz Thanks mate. How's the MR2? I use to have a SW20 MR2 (Aussie atmo' version) I loved that car!

Hence the reason I wrote, 'I would suggest asking Shaun and Troy...' I'm not saying they MUST stay open from 9am till 6pm or even 5pm. But at least ask them what 'they' are happy with. -

I'll come along for a look - my car might still be down there then anyway. And for my 2c I'd like to see the VLT boys come along too! I would suggest asking Shaun and Troy how many cars they can accomodate in a day (say 0900-1800) I would have thought ~25 cars would be achieveable. -
It was the missus birthday earlier in the year and just prior to the date she said - in jest - I couldn't organise anything Skyline related. So I took her to the Skyline restaurant It took her 5mins to catch on - it was priceless LOL. As for the meet 'n' greet - I'm keen. Talking of cruises, I remember organising a number of packed SAU / LS1 cruises a few years ago (2001-2003). One of them (that started at Bunnings car park Mile End) had more than 40 cars and over 70 people. Ahhh the good old days, when R34 GT-Rs were still worth 100k and 250rwkw for a GTS25t was big power.
-
I don't suppose you could tell me the Reserve Price?
-
Thanks Guy. Me too! Cheers Sambo. To be totally honest mate as long as the new plenum doesn't show a loss of power (as many do) then the improvement in appearance and maintenance access will make me happy enough. I 100% promise you a ride Max I have to get a look at your 34 too though! Actually the missus was suggesting a non-turbo 34 four door as a good upgrade for her last night! She was keen to know what the fuel consumption is like... how thirsty is your beast mate? Ahh that's right I forgot about your skiing trip Andrew. Skiing in NZ or a poker night... I know which I'd prefer. Nice work on the 2nd and knocking Burgers out last night. Ahhh no need for apologies mate... gotta' play 'em as best you can! Yeah I had a reasonable game the other night, made one stupid error, but it was late and I was tired. Our usual crowd played a game today actually - I had a shocker! I didn't get a single decent hand pre or post flop! Still held on long enough to see 3 others go out before me We'll have to organise a few more games between our two usual crowds mate. I'll keep you guys in the loop and you guys do likewise. Thanks Busky. I haven't really got any hard 'n' fast aims at the moment. I'd certainly like to see enough power to run mid/low 11's. I'd love to sneak in a 10.9X but in reality the 5sp - which I intend to keep - just about rules it out. I'm definately going to fit 275/40/17 MT Street Radials ready for when the strip opens again. I'll also continue with the appearance mod's so it's up to standard for AS next year.

Very nice! The rims suit it perfectly. Love the rego' too.

Thanks Will. Nothing happened mate... the car has actually been there the whole time but you probably didn't notice it under the cover It's taken a while as we've changed a LOT of things and it's taken quite a while waiting for bits to arrive, be modified and polished/coated etc. Up until now I've only ever had the stock unmodified (apart from ceramic coated) plenum. See 'before' picture below. Thanks r31turbo. We decided on a top mount manifold based on appearance more than anything else. But the top mount location does make things easier to fit. The turbo was initially fitted to the stock manifold for testing purposes, although it 'may' have had a spacer for clearance, I'm not 100% sure. Cheers Munkeyb0y. Yeah the plenum is reasonably wide. Hey Andrew. Thanks dude. There's a little bit still to come in the engine bay appearance department but it's getting closer. You missed Will's poker game a few weeks back mate. Burgers was in fine form... 1st x 2. I came 2nd and then 3rd to end up $10 in front. Thanks mr_rbman. I've seen your beast in at BW a few times too.

Took a few happy snaps of my engine bay the other night... it's still a 'work in progress' at the moment but should be running within the month.
-
Bummer My car is still a work in progress, but if it was completed prior to Autosalon I would have been 100% keen for a SAU group entry. I'm still keen if my car is ready in time!
-
If the car is ready in time then I am in - put me down as a 'yes' and I'll update prior to July 1st My plan is to take the Friday off to prepare and set-up my car and then I'll help others as required. No offence intended Mr. iNFMS, but it's SAU or nothing for me.
