RB20 GTR injectors/tune results
whatsisname replied to Chris32's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Top result Chris. Congrats mate. Mine is down at BW at the moment. Having HKS cams fitted and then a retune. Should have it back early next week hopefully. -
Can't wait to see how it goes on the drag strip Tristan. Bottom line... enjoy what will be a fun day/night at the drag strip, especially as it appears to be your first time. Regardless of suspension set-up and your best ET it should still run some fairly decent mph. I would have thought 130mph should be easy enough, given the current power level.
-
Cheers for the info mate. Sounds about right to me - 2.1-2.2 60' and mid 120's with 420rwhp (313rwkw). RNS11Z and my results are fairly close to. Same mph and similar power 'at the time'.
-
I thought you had more than 420 by the time you ran 128 traps Brett? Weren't you into 330+rwkw (440+rwhp) territory? Just going off track slightly, how much did your mph drop on a poor pass? Say a 2.1-2.2 60ft but clean pass otherwise?
-
My 2c with respect to backing up dyno figures with drag results (especially mph)... With a tad less than 300rkw (400rwhp) and with a race weight of 1557kg (car was 1475kg on weigh bridge with full tank of juice, + my 82kg) I managed to run 120mph. And it was far from a perfect pass. So based on the above info I think a 400rwhp GTS25t should be able to run well into the 120-125mph range. A 500rwhp GTS25t should be into the 130mph range. These estimates are based on a full weight car, so naturally any weigh reduction will help to increase these terminal speeds. It might take a few passes to achieve these speeds, but even an average driver should manage to do it eventually. I did and I can't drive for shit
-
Hey Irish, are you 100% sure that 'thingo' (can't remember his name) did a 109MPH? I thought his best for the night was a 106. Either way it was still putting down some awesome times and trap speeds considering the minimal mods (exhaust, pod filter and boost).

Always a topic that generates much debate (mostly heated!) I know both Tim (Tilbrooks main tuner) and Shaun (Boost worX) personally. Both are excellent blokes and both have a wealth of performance tuning knowledge. I would recommend either of them for tuning work. For all round tuning 'and' performance work I would recommend Shaun without hesitation. I have been taking my car to Boost worX for some time now. Before that I used RPM (once owned by Tim and later managed by Shaun!). As I know Shaun reasonably well he always looks after me. I have never used Tilbrook Auto and Dyno but I do know and have chatted to Mark on many occasions. He is a decent bloke.

I can see the enjoyment factor of knowing your car is quicker than a current model exotic... but give me the F360 Ferrari over a 300rwkw R33 GTS25t Skyline anyday! You could sell the F360 and buy a 10sec R34 GT-R and have change left over for a nice house deposit. On one of the Best Motoring DVD's they 1/4 test an F360 and it runs a low 12 (admittedly it had an upgraded exhaust). It takes a good driver to run low 12's on street rubber in a 280+rwkw GTS25t. A dead stock F360 should run in the 12.8-12.6 region.

Was good to catch up with you all... looking forward to doing it again soon. Should have new cams in and bigger turbo on by next time
-
Because you absolutely love organising dinner parties and functions Darren... it's "your thing". I'm surprised we're not having it at your place so you can bring out that new Royal Doulton tea set you just bought But seriously, thanks for taking on the role of function coord mate So what date are we picking? Fri/Sat night? Looking fwd to catching up with you all. And you're never too old Kym
-
Depends on the night and how many when it comes to the BBC. I've gone on a Tuesday night and got a table for 6 only 45mins before we rocked up! But yeah, Fri/Sat is a big ask We could always just get dinner in the bar area of the BBC??? We'd just have to get a few people there early enough to take up enough tables for everyone. Regardless of the plan, if this night happens count me+1 in

Roy, for you mate I'll let you in on a secret. Hit the 'Mars Bar', it's THE spot for you But seriously there is a heap of good places to go for a drink or 12. The Alma, the Stag, Fumo Blu (for a meeting point and a casual drink) the Bombay Bicycle Club is a good pub/eating spot. And the city has shite loads of clubs, it all depends on the tastes - Red Square (R&B) Savvy etc etc. I'd be in a SA SAU get together, I haven't caught up with you lot in aaaages! Lets make it a evening pub thing perhaps???

I thought I'd seen the beast tucked away at work a few times lately John. It inspired me to bring mine out for the daily commute a bit more mate! Congrats on being back on the road. Feels good doesn't it? Tim is a damn fine tuner and I have no doubt that this motor will hold together over the long term. A little less power is much better than another failure! And more money/time. I'm toying with the idea of going for a bigger turbo on my thing... not sure exactly what yet but 'nicely' into the 300+rwkw region would be the aim. See what happens I guess.
-
I haven't been on the forum much lately so you may have already posted info regarding my questions Paul, have you run the car at the strip yet? And if so what numbers did you get? Even with a shitty 60 it must have some serious top end mph!
-
John didn't get an M3. He did get a E46 but it's one of the lower spec 3 series (325???).
-
Excellent write-up Irish! Thanks for taking time to give us the full run down mate. And congrats on passing
-
Running in a new motor bites Naaaa... the guys were putting the finishing touches to your beast while Shaun was tuning mine. There was no hold up due to me homie!

Is it QEF'A'SG or QEF'T'SG? I might've stuffed that one up Yeah the Nittos sure get sticky after 1hrs worth of roller time. Stuff wearing them out doing warm up burnouts at the drag strip, just take the rollers out there! So has it hit the streets yet mate?
-
C'mon Irish, you're not trying hard enough! I'm sure you could get the remaining states and territories involved. Perhaps you could have the defect cleared in WA, an engineering cert done in the ACT and then get the Tassie police to double check everything. Maybe even contact NZ and see what they think. Good luck with Regency dude. Maybe wear your uniform, it might help... being the fine upstanding sailor that you are - see if you can get an inspector that looks the most likely to watch QEFASG with the emphasis on the Q

Ok, so I make a few small grammatical errors... sheesh! Yes the correct word should have been “you're” as in “you are”, as opposed to “your”. The correct use of “your” would be “is your age 15?” And yes the word English should have been capitalised. In future I shall have to pay more attention to ALL areas of my horribly structured posts. My point still stands though. I blame the SMS/TXT generation.
-
Sorry to hear about your dads S14... but you seriously need to work on your english skills dude! Your 15, you "should" have a reasonable grasp on the english language by now.

Yeah Andrew, I got 9 things done at the same time and it was $440 (at PowerKote). I had my exhaust manifold heatshield done in the silver (isn't as shiny as chrome but still comes up nice) and it has handled the heat no prob's so far. I saw John's exhaust manifold (DRIFT6) after it had copped HUGE amounts of heat (sustained big rev's and big boost) and it had discoloured quite badly, the coating was still ok but it had changed to a dull silver.
-
Yeah that's the one Andrew. I use to pay $103 for it from PPG ~3yrs ago. Happy b'day too dude. You're almost as old as me, in another couple of years you'll BE the same age as me (I've stopped having b'days so I don't get any older)

VMX80 is "NO WHERE NEAR" as good as Shockproof. I've used VMX80 , Motul and Redline in my g'box and the Redline is so much better than the others it's not funny! $100-120 isn't "that" much to spend, it's not like you have to change it every 5000km (although I usually do). Most people blow $100 on a night out. Edit: Oops forgot to add... yes, Castrol VMX80 will be ok.

LOL..... That's a classic that one. I've already seen it and I ain't going for a second look It's bloody funny when someone gets in real close to study the pic's and then....!!!!!!!!
