You can count me in for 2 of these GT-S badges!

Yes I must admit I was a touch concerned about the 8.0CR. I was thinking it may result in a lag monster that needed 30psi to produce the goods, but thankfully this was far from the case. Here's my latest dyno sheet so you can see how my engines 8.0CR, porting and turbo combo actually performs (apologies for the black and white, but I had it faxed to me) The dip up top is due to boost dropping (possible BOV leak issue?) My combo has damn near the same response as a 9.0CR, HKS 2835R Pro S with manifold and Greddy inlet manifold (same dyno same day). It also made more power on the same boost. A few people were surprised that mine was as responsive as it is. Not only is it 8.0CR but I also run a POS old school plain bearing T3/TO4E. *Note* - the back to back comparo is not the dyno run from above. I agree that more boost is required (1.3-1.4bar is perfect) to make the numbers on lower compression, and this in turn puts more demand on the turbo. EDIT: Oh yeah... and I know, I need a set of cams. If someone has a spare set (or even just the exhaust), then feel free to give them to me. I say give, as $ is bloody low atm

first time down the quarter last night
whatsisname replied to bbenny's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Damn it BFGoodrich! Why don't you make a 275-285/40/17 I want something to run on my everyday rims (17 x 9). Currently it's either Nittos, or circuit spec semi-comps. I'd love to see a group drag radial purchase from the US. 2-3k worth between a few of us should make it worth while. I have a mate who has just returned from 3yrs in the US and he has contacts that could organise a shipping container with heaps of Nittos and the like. Food for thought. -

I always run a full tank of juice, as I figure the extra fuel is offset by the traction advantage of more weight bias over the rear end. Where is the cheapest place to get Nittos anywhere!? Apart from the US. -
Top choice of forged pistons there Andrew. Is that the off-the-shelf RB26 CP kit, or are they customs? I went for CP customs due to 8.0 CR.

Let me have a go for you Benny, I'll get you back up into the 14's @ 110mph no prob's -
Why can't my car rev past 2000rpm?

Baaaah, piss weak effort Andrew, there's still plenty of life left in that clutch plate yet. I can still see the rivet heads -
Proposed Street Car/Street Tyre Class
whatsisname replied to 2rismo's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
Well that counts ALL the South Australian guys out! As far as SA Transport are concerned a very mildly modified car (and I mean very mild!) like 95% of the people on here is a no-no. -
Proposed Street Car/Street Tyre Class
whatsisname replied to 2rismo's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
Why exclude Nittos and the like? It doesn't make any sense to do that. Any of the semi-comps are fine for use on the street, and many people use them on the street at one time or another. As Chris said, I use Nittos as my everyday rubber on the rear and RE540S on the front. If it is to be a "street" class, and semi-comps are legal for street use (NT555Rs "may" not be legal in OZ), then why exclude them? You only have to look at your best 60ft vs mine Bass Junky. Nittos only help if you can drive, which clearly I can't - well not very well with my current power level -
Times?

I agree with you Martin, GM certainly hasn’t dropped the ball from a performance perspective. My dropped the ball comment was more aimed at the piston slap and oil consumption issues that "some" owners have experienced. 12.3 @ 114 is bloody impressive from an unopened LS1. The 12.3 is obviously helped by a damn good suspension and tyre set-up, but the 114mph is amazing! I am most certainly serious mate. I'd love to see the tuning and power runs take place. Programmable shift light, data logging and programmable traction control, it sounds like GM had racing in mind when they sat down and started designing the system. And for the grand total of $200! Can it be made to run any engine?

6.0L, 25psi, 8500rpm, jungle juice fuel and enough air in and out to keep a diver on the ocean floor for a decade! That's worth a Big Kev - I'M EXCITED! I'm guessing Damo (Rogue8) is clued in on Tonners progress, yes? I'd love to be there when the tuning takes place. So what sort of chassis upgrades are in the works? The torque this thing will develop would snap the stock chassis in half wouldn't it? I have to say, I'm bloody amazed at the tuning scope of an 'edited' ECU. GM have dropped the ball in a few areas, but the ECU certainly wasn't one of them. Street legal - my car is 100% street legal, dead stock, never had so myuch as a Gtech fitted to it

Proposed Street Car/Street Tyre Class
whatsisname replied to 2rismo's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
Yeah I agree on no rear seat Clint, they don't weigh thaaat much anyway. But it should have the both the fronts and all the trim (doors & dash). Hmmm... if the car is a true street car then it "must" see use on the street - hence my call of driving it to the track. But yeah, trucking it in is understandable. I still can't help thinking that rego'd cars that 'arrive' on a truck are just "token" street cars. I'd like to see a class that is as representative of true daily driven style cars as possible. Ok, so it's not a huge crowd pleaser, but it could be once up and running. Just think how competative it would be! You only have to look at David Lee's (Leewah) 33 GT-R as to how quick a true street car can go - a best ET of 10.4 and a best mph of over 140! Even without the nitrous that is a car I'd pay money to watch. -
Holy shite! With a possible 700rwkw (we're talking within kickin' distance of the big 1000rwhp!) who cares if it's legal or not? I just wanna see it get up and boogy Awesome stuff Martin, bloody awesome!

Proposed Street Car/Street Tyre Class
whatsisname replied to 2rismo's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
Excellent stuff Adrian! I for one would love to see a class like this evolve "Street car" - hmmm... there are so many ways to go here. Must have full interior. Can use non original seats but must have both front seats and ALL interior trim fitted. Must be driven, under its own power, to the track. "Street tyres" - Must be a DOT approved radial. "Weight" - Minimal weight reduction allowed. Don't shoot me on these suggestions, as I'm just thinking out aloud at the moment. -
Hahaha - I don't know what made more laugh more, Erica and her Leb taxi driver, or Matty's lack of yodelling skillz
-
Mmmm C5R Lemans :drooling: So what's the ETA on the new package?
-
Hey Matty, he kinda looks a bit like you mate, just wack a set of glasses on him and it's a spitting image
-
25psi! This isn't on stock internals is it? I'm guessing no. 25psi of supercharged boost + 5.7L ='s serious grunt! Can't wait to see it in action Martin.

107 - yeah baby! :alcoholic 3 on my first go, 'cause I didn't know what I was doing :spew:

Using the SkylinesAustralia.com 1/4 Mile Drag List (http://skylines.pnc.com.au/drags.html - thanks Ben) as a benchmark, I'd guesstimate 8.5-8.3sec over the 1/8 should be good enough to run a low 13 to high 12sec over the 1/4. Well done!

Remember the gold 'BOOYA' Magna from the AIR Nat's?
whatsisname replied to whatsisname's topic in South Australia
It's easy Tim, just do what I did - I have a cat back, pod filter and I run 85psi boost - fulsik mate! -
Sounds like you took a Bazooka to a knife fight mate
-
I'll bet a $40 3.5" pipe still flows more than a $400 3.5" cat. But yes a 3.5" cat would be the go for everyday use and maximum horsepower potential.
-
A cat with the guts smacked out of it doesn't go meow any more... oh hang on, sorry, wrong type of cat. A hollowed out cat is worse for performance than a new decent quality high flow one. A straight through pipe, in the same size diameter as the rest if the system, WILL out perform a high flow cat. The honeycomb is a restriction and regardless of how high flow it is it will still rob power. The rwkw difference between a straight through 3” pipe vs. a 3” high flow cat is more than 1 or 2kw. The difference between a 3” straight through pipe vs. a 2.5” cat is bloody massive!
