You got it in one Ben. -

Hmmm... I probably shift a little more like a mid to late 40yr old mum now, certainly not MILF quality either But seriously, I still shift a tad softly. Any drag meet that I get to 'drive' the car home from is a good one! -
Not this little black duck!

~1320ft in a straight line, how hard can it be? Harder than it bloody looks - well the first 60ft certainly is. -
Does the bottle hold enough "NAWS" to run it the whole back to Wollongong?
-
I didn't say I don't have a cat Paul I do! It's just that "sometimes" I leave it on the bench in my garage

Simply knocking out the honeycomb centre of a cat will probably result in less power, as the cat then becomes an expansion camber to help the exhaust gases slow down (takes time to fill the inside of the cat). Replacing the cat with a straight through pipe, or fitting a straight through pipe (same dia' as rest of system) in the middle of it WILL result in more power. In the case of a turbocharged engine considerably more power! Those of you who are all high and mighty about pollution of the environment, how often do you actually replace your cat? They have a very limited effective life. Once they begin to deteriorate the only thing they're good for is robbing power. NZ’ers don’t have to run cats at all – I'd rather breath the atmosphere in “Un zud” than Sydney!

Ah yes, but if they ALL used it, i.e a level playing field, then their parts would still be on show.

Just adding my 2c here: I don't see the "general" perception of nitrous (NOS is for the Fast and the Furious crowd) changing anytime soon. I always hear people talk about nitrous as a "cheater" way to quicker numbers, and that includes owners of performance workshops too! At the end of the day using nitrous is the same as using ELF or C16, it's a chemical method of achieving more horsepower. Nitrous off-the-line helps improve 60' times, that's for sure! It's interesting to note that the Japanese aren't big on nitrous use in drag racing, especially when they follow the Yanks with everything else. Edit - While I'm talking about the Yanks, you only have a look at the various US forums to see that even over there (in the land of street legal Nitrous) most of them see a nitrous "kill" is a hollow victory. "Yeah but he had to 'spray' me to win".

You use to be able to get it in 5L containers (well 15W 50 300V did anyway) and even 100+L drums! I'm not sure about the RB26DETT but the RB25DET takes 4.7L with filter if I remember correctly. So 3 x 2L containers. I also use to get a 300V 10W40 2L container for $19.95 - isn't it amazing how the prices rise when a product becomes popular .
-
Copy cat Steve! I too use 300V (10W 40 or 15w 50) and Pureone oil filters. I've been using 300V for 4.5yrs. While it won't stop your ringlands from cracking it sure as hell keeps the rest of the internals in excellent shape! Having been un/lucky enough to view my engine internals I can vouch for 300V. As does my engine builder. Oh yeah... I does smell rather nice too. I wonder how it would go for cooking fish and chips?

I don't know what's more impressive? The big f%*k off engine, or Andrew's 'champagne posts'

Do R32 GTR seats fir into R33 GTS-T's??
whatsisname replied to kik-ass's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
R32 GT-R and R33 GT-R seats bolt straight into a R33 GTS25t 2 door - not sure about the sedan. R32/33 GT-R seats also bolt straight into the R32 GTS-t 2 door - once again I don't know about the 4 door. R34 seats are a different bolt pattern and therefore don't bolt straight in. -
A good friend of mine is running a single AX53B60 on a Pulsar GTi-R - this thing is a rocket! Lag? What lag!? Full boost by 3000rpm! He also confirmed they are about the same as the HKS 2530 - perhaps a touch better.

I'll see if I can get it hosted tomorrow at work - if I can find it. If Martin (Donnon) is reading this he should remember that pass - he's leaning against the wall in the vid Edit: I found the vid. It's very dark, so I'll see if I can lighten it up a touch at work tomorrow. It doesn't look all that scary in the video to be honest - just a little wobble and that's about it.

Next time your in Adelaide look me up Ben, I'll take you for a spin I remember ~4yrs ago, back when I had 180rwkw - Dry road, straight line & 1st gear saw the fresh 255 Falkens just starting to spin. After the turbo upgrade WOT in 1st was wheel spin city and WOT in 2nd got the tail a little loose. Now days 1st is just for the drags and cruising away from the lights. 2nd is for doing power slides. I've had a scary moment or two on the drag strip in 3rd - had the back snap out far enough I was headed for the wall! I have that on video somewhere.

275/40/17 Nittos, pineapples, -0.4 rear camber (one side has more than the other at the moment - need to go for less) soft shocks and I still have traction issues If anyone has a *insert Jap brand name here* LSD to give away I'll gladly take it
-
Is there any other choice mate? Joel can drop the new RB30DET into the Stagea.
-
Just follow the 11th commandment - thou shall not get caught.
-
WOO HOO! Congrats to you both mate Time to start looking for a family wagon

I have nothing to do with the organisation of this dyno day, and unfortunately won't be able to attend - but I don't see why you shouldn't be allowed to bring your bog stock standard BA XR8

My upgrade plans - Advice required

I have inserted the acronym GAFU into my Mech Eng List Of Terms dictionary Back on topic - Dean, I'll find out tonight/tomorrow about the Garrett wastegate actuator (cost, part no: etc). -

:elaugh: Is that the technical engineering term for a poor spray pattern? -

It's cool dude, I'm just winding you up I should have got the exact specs on my turbo when it was built. It would be a good bloody good bolt-on upgrade for those chasing the 260-300rwkw mark - without suffering too much extra lag. -

Steve, Steve, Steve - I'm going to rename you "Mr Japanese brand name man" Tomei this - HKS that Dean, here's my 2c worth, speaking from experience: Fuel pump - A Bosch 910 pump is 100% perfectly capable of handling 250-260rwkw. I had a 910 for over 3yrs - for the last 2 it was with mid 200rwkw. However at 300rwkw it could no longer cope. Going for an 044 is probably a better idea though, as you'll only end up wanting more power down the track and getting the 044 now will prevent you having to upgrade again (like I just did). Injectors - As everyone else has already said, don't muck about with reg's - do it the right way and upgrade injectors! Don't learn the hard way. If you can't afford to do injectors, then wait until you can. Exhaust manifold - Yes I would recommend a good clean-up and port match of the exhaust manifold - mine was and it certainly didn't hurt power or response! Head port and polish - ditto above. Boost control - I would recommend a decent EBC. I've had a few bleeder set-ups and the EBC wins hands down every time. They can be had cheap enough these days. $600-700 will get you a good one - Performance Forums have the odd decent 2nd deal from time to time. Clutch - if it slips worry about it then. My 'Extreme' cushioned ceramic button single plate is still holding up. I also run a 1095kg pressure plate. Wastegate actuator - The R32 actuator will probably only give a slight improvement as the spring wouldn't be much stronger than a R33 one. I run a Apexi 1.0bar actuator and it works bloody well! 1.0bar no probs. Stand-by on this one as a mate has recently researched upgraded actuators and found a brand new off-the-shelf Garrett item that did the the job perfectly.
