Bosch 910 - Is it safe to use internally?
whatsisname replied to Anquetil's topic in General Maintenance
I was running a Bosch 910 in-tank up till the end of last week. It had been in there for almost 4yrs and came out still in tip-top shape. It's now going into an RX7 turbo circuit car. The only reason it was replaced was due to it not handling the demand placed on it. -
On a sustsained high boost run (1/4 pass) my water temp has hit 90-92'c Normal temp is 82-84'c. In traffic/at lights max it ever reaches is 88-90'c.

Thanks guys Yeah Robo the top end is fairly solid. I can usually miss a gear or totally stuff the launch (wasting a second or so) and if I keep on it for the rest of run I can chase down a 13-14sec car. My total lack of a decent burnout saw the Nittos spin in 3rd and 4th on one pass.

Don't be too hard on yourself Chappy, it was your first time out in a new car. To run 14.22 at nearly 104mph, with a 'less than perfect launch', shows the car has plenty of potential. Thanks for the photo too mate Thanks Andy/Mark Sounds like a close call Mark!

A few SA SAU members had a run out there today (Sunday 06Jun04) but unfortunately none of us had the best of meets Thanks to all that came to watch and lend support Poor old Matty (MattR) had a PITA intercooler hose that didn't want to stay on no matter what was tried. In the end he retired. Better luck next time mate. Chapman (Maxx) debuted the new S15 (no muckin' around there mate ) with a couple of low 14's @ 102+mph. A best of 14.2 was the end result. It's a good starting point mate. A lesser known forum member (PSI-VL... I think?) ran 11.3 @ 121+mph? Not a Skyline, but still RB powered. I had a couple of PB's... 12.357 @ 119.96mph (2.119) was a ET PB, and an earlier pass saw a MPH PB of 120.03mph I'll run an 11 eventually. I'm getting closer. One tenth at a time Yes I know, I suck at burnouts!

Congrats on cracking into the 12's Robo

Caps, bold, italics and different colours are so 'yesterday'. Using another language is the 'new black' -
Thanks mate If the weather holds up I'll get to try out the Nittos tommorrow. Yes, very true. Stock and modified GT-Rs are very different beasts to tame, naturally stock being the easier of the two.

Dean Dean Dean, you seriously have nothing to do, do you? Caps, bold, whatever... you all got the general idea! Steve, you still want to give it a shot though don't you? Deep down I know your probably curious... go on admit it! And naaa it wasn't that impressive. Had you gone for caps, bold AND italics then I would've been impressed -
You guys think it's hard to launch with a GT-R! Try doing it with a lowly GTS (*see piss poor 60' in sig'*) It doesn't help that I can't drive for shite.

Bahhhh... it's all in the 1/4 numbers lads Me - the original 12sec driver in an 11sec car. Lachlan (Freebaggin) - into the 12's and looking to go quicker very soon. Brendan (B-man) - still got the L plates on but catching up quick! Soon to go much quicker than me!!! Steve - hmmm.... what's this I see!? Lots of power but nil attempts at the 1/4! Go on mate give it a go. You know deep down you really want to Your rear tyres are up to the task, we already know that -
Remember the gold 'BOOYA' Magna from the AIR Nat's?
whatsisname replied to whatsisname's topic in South Australia
By the 'looks' of the modifications this thing has big hp potential! It's got a pretty big turbo, huge FMIC, serious fuel system (custom rail and just look at the hardware in the boot!) it even has a custom plenum. If the internals have been upgraded then it would be very interesting to see just how much grunt this engine makes? A turbocharged 3.0L V6 would have a bucketload of torque too. -

Yep mate, it's sure has been a long time in the making. It's cost a few dollars too! Haha, I love the bit in bold You just wanted to use that Star Wars smiley didn't you? That sort of thing doesn't happen at Autosalon does it!? -
For those that remember the gold mid/late 90's 3.0L V6 Magna (rego: BOOYA) from the 4, 6 and Rotary Nationals... it looks like he decided to get serious! He was on the SA part of our forum for a short while too.

I'm 99% sure no additional timing was added. The peak power is mostly unchanged from the other day (~2rwkw). Cooler inlet temps may well have gained the extra rwkw. To be totally honest such a small amount is just as likely to come from tyre to roller diferences, or 0.5psi boost increase. It may have been 22.5 to 22.9psi whereas the other day is was 22.0psi? It all adds up. The A/FR at peak power has not changed much at all (~0.2) It's peak torque and especially the top end A/FRs that are much safer (11.8 as opposed to 13.0!!!) The real test will be on the drag strip. -

I'm keen to head out there at gates open time if you are Matt? 9am or 10am... it's all good to me. Bl4ck32, With your new combo you'll do more than just pass me! How long till we get to see the full power of your beast unleashed? Thanks Mel You could always bring your Nan? I'll could give her a special 'birthday' ride in the car -

Thanks all Brendan, we thought about dropping the exhaust. I wanted to see how much difference it'd make? But we ran out of time. Matty - 'Slammed Mobile Guard Rolling' Jeff Hughes 0401 400 005 He is only too happy to travel to wherever you want. As long as he has access to 240V ( to power his heat gun) you can get it done while you're at work. Just make sure your wheel nuts are tight when he's finished It shouldn't cost you more than $110 for the rear. -

Thanks Mark I'll give it my best shot mate. As long as I drive it home in one piece I'll be happy. -

Yeah 299.1 is enough Chapman 1.7bar is tempting, but I'd prefer to keep the boost lower than 1.7 Thanks Matt. No prob's. -

Thanks Jay Yeah we've been around a while us old timers Back in the days when a 200rwkw GTS25t was a big achievement! I won my first ever dyno comp at CAS (now CRD) with a 200+rwkw run. That was ~1999-2000 I think? These days my power figure isn't much to brag about at all. Look at all these big power monsters on our forums! There's about 6-7 300+rwkw GTS25t at least. Then you've got Adrian (2rismo), Brett (Buster), Chris (Doughboy), GOTBOOST and more that are into the low 12's and 11's! I'm hoping to run the car at AIR on Sunday (6th) With the Nittos, me getting my shit together, no breakages (PLEASE! - touch wood, metal, plastic and anything else I can get my hands on!!!) I'd love to see a very low 12, high 11 and 120+mph. -
I'm in (if I don't have my little one?). And Mel, didn't you know? All the good bowlers use a little of the good 'ol brown stuff for that extra spin... LOL

Those that saw my earlier post (Exhausts: noise ='s power) may remember my fuel pump/pressure and leaning out dramas from last weekends dyno session? Well it turns out I had neither an 044 or 984 Bosch pump! It was the little baby of the Bosch range... the 910. It put up a good effort considering the demand that's been placed on it! I found the box that my pump "supposedly" came out of. It had 984 on it. The 910 will go to a new home (Shaun's RX7 turbo circuit car - coming soon!) and I now have an 044. I watched it go in, so this time I'm 100% sure I have an 044 After a bit of fuel pressure adjustment, some tuning to suit the new pump and f/pressure, and it was time to see what power it could muster? Shaun richened up the mixtures across the rev range (to keep it nice and safe). Peak torque A/FR is low/mid 11's and top end is 11.8. Even with the richer mixtures we still made a number of high 290rwkw runs, with a best of 299.1rwkw (401rwhp) It made 298-299 back to back I was happy with that so we didn't bother with the magical 300. It was worth stopping short of 300 just to see many people are going to go, "ahhh c'mon just a bit more boost and you would've had it" LOL Shaun, Wayne, Craig (MAD DAT Motorsport) and myself crowded around the dyno screen and all went OHHHHH! when it flashed up 299.1. If it had've been 299.9 then I would've been pissed Boost was at ~1.5bar (~22psi)

I'm sure Ross can fill us in with the exact details, but to the best of my knowledge he proved that AWD, big revs and solid power do not necessarily equal quick 1/4 numbers. They can equal broken gearboxes though! What was your best terminal speed Ross?
-
I'm a tad over 80kg myself... a little more suited to a 1/4 driver than some perhaps? Chris, The carbon boot and bonnet would help a little bit. But not that much. As would the nice loud Nismo zorst. I've just switched over to the same exhaust set-up as you mate. I gained quite a bit of extra mumbo from the swap. I gained quite a bit of noise too!
