  2. Not that it makes much difference anyway, but have you removed any weight out of the car Chris? And what exhaust set-up did/do you use on the strip? I'm just thinking out aloud, as I guess there's a few little things that when added together can make a noticeable improvement without needing any extra horsepower. At the end of the day (and regardless of the above) the time/mph you ran is a bloody legendary effort mate!
  3. That's exactly what I was thinking Martin
  4. Sounds like it was a heart-in-the-mouth-moment hey mate?
  5. Thanks for the info sly. Completely tape the overflow outlet. That's what I do and they are always happy enough with that.
  6. Roit that's sortid 'en
  7. All very true Martin. I should have clarified that the 'nil loss down low' was a dyno observation and not a on-road seat of the pants test. The minor trade-off in cam gear adjustment to achieve top end gains is acceptable to me. As when I compare my power curve to other similarly modified RB25DET combos it still has very good bottom end and mid range power/torque. My camshafts will be upgraded as soon as I have the funds. I might see you out there on Sunday mate? edit: Forgot to add... thanks for the cam selection recommendation!
  8. Excellent Paul We've got to have the GT-R represented under the SAU banner! Having a 'Skylines Australia' display without the almighty GT-R would be a bit like drinking zero-alcohol beer Edit: The only bummer is you wouldn't be able to do a dyno run on the Boost Worx dyno Unless Shaun did the remove shaft option? Here's the updated list of "potential" entrants: 4door_Sleeper (R33 GTS25t 4dr) whatsisname (R33 GTS25t) Envisage (R34 GT-t) cell (R34 GT-t) Nightcrawler (S15 200SX) Steve (R33 GTS25t) skipppy (R33 GTS25t 4dr) Clint32 (R32 GTS-t) Pawley (R33 GT-R) MattR (S14 200SX)
  9. Oops! Sorry mate. I forgot to update the thread! I did have a chat to Shaun about Autosalon. But as it costs ~2-2.5k for a trader stand he has decided he probably won't enter. Shaun is willing to offer free dyno runs to those who are entering so they can display a current dyno sheet with whatever info and format they want. So we could all have a dyno sheet with 'Skylines Australia' in a large eye catching font, all done in the same style/format, and of course it would also have Boost Worx on it. If we go with a 'drag' theme (my personal preference) then those of us with timeslips could add a copy of their PB slip to the dyno sheet. Maybe we could have a drift and drag theme? Steve's car is perfect for a drift/circuit theme and mine for drag. The others could pick which option they want to go for and then display the two themes side by side. The drag theme is easiest to set-up. We just need a christmas tree (drag lights), a mock burnout/launch area and waiting lanes.
  10. Sounds good. You can pencil me in. I'll confirm in a week or two.
  11. I'm not sure what time it starts Matt. I'll go have a look at the AIR site and get back to you. I'm guessing it's a 10am gates open for a 11am start, or something like that? Good to hear Joel. Can't wait to see how you RB30DET lads go! I'm expecting some quick times and big mph!
  12. Might try and get there right from the start for a change mate. You wanna head out together? What's 'no-cams' Andrew doing?
  13. Sounds like good plan to me Matty.
  14. Back to being serious for a sec, the downside in doing SR20DET cam gears is it's a labour intensive process Rocker cover off, timing chain and so on... I still reckon it's worth doing though mate. Of course you'll have to put your cams back in to fit the gears to them
  15. But if you don't have ANY cams how are you going to attach the cam gears?
  16. C'mon now Joel you forgot to add... 'and whilst at the drag strip'. ALL Boost Worx Skyline owners MUST run their completed car set-ups at AIR at least once. It's in the fine print, just ask Shaun Steve is yet to complete his required drag meet.
  17. The more I look at your results the more I realise how much my driving sucks!
  18. Just goes to show, huge peak power isn't needed to run very fast and quick numbers. Well done! The power curve from from 5500rpm to 7000rpm is bloody impressive. That would most certainly help with mph, and ET for that matter.
  19. Here's my thoughts on cam gears Andrew... (using Andrew makes me feel as if I'm about to tell you off ) The stock cam profiles are designed to work with the stock exhaust system, turbocharger, boost levels and so on. The more you move away from the factory set-up the more you'll find that cam gear adjustment "may" make a noticeable improvement. I would've thought the stock cam timing is a compromise between power and emissions too? We've made cam timing adjustments to my motor twice (the original motor and the built motor) on both occassions there have been noticeable mid range and top end rwkw gains with nil loss down low (retarding ex cam for mid/top power). Why don't more people do the cam gear mod? I don't know? It seems strange to not do it if you ask me. It's cheap power!
  20. All very good advice Adrian. Now I just need to learn how to launch like you and Sam do! I think my biggest problem to date has been the fact that every time I've gone back to the strip it's been with new upgrades to the car.
  21. What brand of dyno is it? Dyno Dynamics with Shootout Mode software?
  22. Yep I understand that Shane. I was looking more at the fact that this situation shows up obvious inconsistancies with the current system. One traffic division says it is a defect that stands until proven otherwise (by a full Regency park inspection). And yet another traffic officer states that he would have removed the defect (or possibly not given it in the first place?) as it isn't a defectable item.
  23. My bad. Sorry But there is still a traffic officer that has stated he would have cleared it.
  24. I knew you wouldn't have been doing anything wrong Erica. I was just making 101% sure The situation so far... you recieve a defect notice for something that is in fact legal (that you state to the officer at the time). The officer doesn't even look under the bonnet to identify the 'supposed' offending item. And then by their own admission HHP officers later confirm that the defect "should" be cleared without requiring a full inspection. As far as I can tell you have a very strong case. This 'defect without sighting the defective item' situation is a bit too much for me to accept. It's rediculous!
