  1. I’m going to echo Steve’s comments on this one. I strongly urge you to go all out Erica. I know it’s going to be a pain in the arse for you but I really think you should take a stand. Let me know if you need any assistance? As I said to you on the phone, maybe give the media a shot? Hopefully if you/they (media) work it from the right angle it won't come across as a disgruntled car 'hoon' but rather an average motorist that has been unfairly treated. The simple facts in your case are that you were defected for an item that was complete factory standard. Is that all they defected you for? And were you doing anything to draw the wrong kind of attention to yourself? If the answer is an honest NO in both cases then I believe it warrants some form of action to stop the same thing from continuing to occur. At the very least the situation where they (police) later agreed the defect “should” be removed, without the need for a full Regency Park inspection, should be highlighted. I’m not saying that SAPOL should back-off and leave modified/import drivers alone completely (there are plenty of modified/import drivers on our roads that are drawing the unwanted attention in the first place! – this is the REAL issue) but what I would like to see is the police using common sense and judgement. I guess when I look at the whole situation realistically, it really is fighting a losing battle : ( Modified/import car owners are, for the most part, seen by the wider community as “reckless hoons”. They (average suburban family member) probably see the police targeting as a good thing. They just think… “Excellent work SAPOL - less idiots on the road” The sad fact is in “some” cases this is pretty much true : ( Rant over.
  2. Thanks Deano No I haven't got an exhaust valve mate. A silencer insert will probably do for now.
  3. Hahaha... how hard can it be to go dead straight (well most of the time) for 400m? It's easy! Not when you've got a turbocharged engine that comes on boost like a mofo! Keep at it mate. In another meet or two you'll have knocked 0.5sec off at the very least. You'll probably go mid/low 12's @ 120mph within the next two meets. And then when Brett gives you a shot on the Nittos you be into the 11's @ mid 120's.
  4. MT ET Streets are cross-ply. They're not allowed under the HPI rules. They have to be radials. ET Street's are just a slick with a few pissy little lines on them! Nittos/BFG radials look like conventional road tyres. Nittos aren't too bad in the wet too, so I found out yesterday. On 10 pounds boost mind you.
  5. I know exactly how you feel Brendan It's all part of the learning experience mate. I've had a drag meet where I started out with a 13.943 @ 117.35mph. In a way it actually makes you feel even better when you do finally nail a good one. Gotta say though mate, you really suck at getting off the line 91.66mph at the 1/8th is very promising though. To give you an idea I had the following numbers on a 91.91mph at the 1/8th: 60' - 2.090 330' - 5.651 660' - 8.377 MPH - 91.91 1000' - 10.739 ET - 12.690 MPH - 119.12 My best numbers are: 60' - 2.143 330' - 5.492 660' - 8.188 MPH - 90.48 1000' - 10.531 ET - 12.473 MPH - 118.34 As you can see from my numbers above, it's a fine line between wheel spin and bogging it down. In the top run I had a good 60' (2.090) but then it light the rears up at about 70-80' and I lost out on ET. In the bottom one I came off the line slower and got better grip and therefore a quicker ET but lost out on top end MPH.
  6. Thanks Greg. If you don't mind the extra noise it's well worth it mate. With a less restrictive exhaust and nice cool air temps you'll probably hit the magic 300. Get some Nittos and then see if you can't bag yourself an 11sec 1/4. I'm hoping to prove my theory on June the 6th.
  7. Thanks Lach'. Yeah I'd love to do cams mate! But no money for them atm I actually rang your Mobile while I was at BWX, but it went straight to msg bank. How does it sound? Very very angry! 'Tuff' would be a good description The down side is it's much louder, and therefore attracts more attention. You can't have everything though (without one of those exhaust flap thingy’s). Yeah yeah Steve But I don’t mind you giving me the ‘I told you so’, ‘cause it was you that convinced me to do the exhaust swap in the first place. Off-boost and spool haven’t seemed to change that much? On the dyno sheet there’s only a few extra kw in it. Basically, up till ~4000rpm it’s not much different. But from 4,000 to 5,500 (and no doubt till 6,400 once all is ok) it out powers the old system, by upto 20rwkw in some places! The peak gain is only minimal (6rwkw). I thought I had a 044 (200 lbs/hr), but it may well be a 984 (165lbs/hr) Even the 984 “should” easily handle 300+rwkw. The 910 (130lbs/hr) can cope with 300rwkw. I’m hoping it’s just a clogged strainer that has only just started to show up due to the extra demand. I hear what your saying Busky, but I watched Shaun opening up the duty cycle and putting more fuel in and it was making MORE power rather than less. The good thing is, it makes high 290’s at just 5,500rpm and that’s with low 12’s A/FR. Peak torque is at ~4,400rpm. Once we get the pump issue sorted I’ll scan the resulting dyno sheet for all to have a gander. Stay “tuned”
  8. On Friday arvo I took the car down to Boost Worx to do the usual oil & filter and diff fluid change. While I was there we also did a muffler change (I'd been keen to do it for a while). I now have a straight-through N1 style muffler with the drift spec angled tip (looks very cool). The original Trust pipework went under the diff with a nasty angle that undoubtedly robbed power. It wasn't a lot of power, but still worth the change. Unfortunately during the dyno runs we discovered that from 6000rpm and up it was getting dangerously lean (13.0:1) Up till 6000 it sits at low 12's. With a peak of 1.5bar it made 297rwkw at 5500rpm (well before it started to go lean). In fact back to back runs netted 292, 295 and 297rwkw. On Wednesday we're going to check the filter (fairly new - shouldn't be blocked?) the tank pick-up (might be blocked?) and then the pump itself. If need be a new 044 will go in. It is 100% before the fuel rail, as we took off the return line and watched the flow drop to buggery as the revs climbed towards 6000rpm. I might just crack the 300rwkw mark yet? Shaun kept putting more fuel in up top and it continued to make power (292-295-297). So once the fuel pressure issue is sorted and we can get it back into the low 12's/high 11's at 6400rpm (were it usually makes peak power) it should be interesting.
  9. Continuing with the post-whore... yeah Lach' we did the exhaust/muffler change. It made quite a difference considering the very low cost! I'll post up a quick thread on my results. Have a read.
  10. Oops! Missed that bit I'll have a word to Shaun (Boost Worx) tomorrow re workshop input. He already mentioned he was going to have a stand at the AS.
  11. Holy shite B-man! A bit over 110rwkw to almost 270rwkw in 1000rpm! And I thought mine came on hard. How do the rears hold up on the transition?
  12. I'm not sure mate? I'm guessing it must be a month or two away? July maybe? Someone on here will know.
  13. I will most certainly vouch for Shaun at Boost Worx. He has a lot of Skyline knowledge and takes the time to do the job right! It's all well and good to have the knowledge and ability, but it's sooo much more important that the workshop/mechanic that works on your car applies it! Shaun does. His prices are very sensible too.
  14. Simple fact: SAPOL have the power to defect a 100% standard, factory legal, straight off the showroom floor "insert brand of car here". The situation is no different to any of the other states and territories. I'm not saying the above situation is fair, but it's the unfortunate truth under the current scheme
  15. When you look at those two curves together, they have "potential" written all over them! It's going to be interesting to see what the power curve will be like, considering the boost that's still to be had in the mid range
  16. Ok, so far we have a list of the following "potential" entrants: 4door_Sleeper (R33 GTS25t 4dr) whatsisname (R33 GTS25t) Envisage (R34 GT-t) cell (R34 GT-t) Nightcrawler (S15 200SX) Steve (R33 GTS25t) skipppy (R33 GTS25t 4dr) EnricoPalazzo (R33 GTS25t)
  17. Thanks Matty Let me know if you need a hand with anything.
  18. 13th would suit me fine. 20th is a no-go.
  19. It's up to scratch now Matt. Seeing as how it's a 'club' thing it doesn't matter if it's not a highly modified example anyway.
  20. I wouldn't exactly say I'm hanging out for it But yeah, I'm keen. Add to that the fact that next weekend is totally out for me! Fri/Sat I've got my daughter, and Sunday is the drags.
  21. We should do it this weekend!
  22. I've been to many Autosalons (Sydney and Adelaide) but until now I had never even considered entering my own car. I guess there's a first time for everything? In all seriousness Steve, you and I should enter! Your car is well and truely up to the standard mate. I can't speak for the other forum members, but when I go to these kind of events as a spectator it's cars like yours that impress me the most. A nice custom paint job is probably the biggest area we are lacking in. But who cares? It's not like we're there to win. To be honest, my engine bay is the only real feature of my car, and when you compare it to most AS cars it's not really that flash anyway! Hmmm...... ahh stuff it, why not? Yep. I'm in. In fact lets go all out and do like it 4door has proposed - a full 'Skylines Australia' club entry. We've got the numbers to make a pretty damn good showing, and we sure as hell have some impressive cars! Ross could bring COPYME - his R34 would be a huge stand out! Andrew could bring the S15 (the 12.7 time slip on the windscreen would impress!) All the GT-R (32, 33 and 34) guys could line them up for the biggest gathering of GT-R's seen at an Adelaide Autosalon! I could go on and on... The only show stopper I can think of is if the police show up (uniformed or plain clothes) and start recording rego numbers
  23. Although he's currently offline due to work commitments, Grepin (SAU nick) is your man! He has a HKS GT2835 ProS fitted to his GTS25t. Have a read here - http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...ead.php?t=30551
  24. I was considering it... ?
  25. No joy Steve They don't have the grunt for drifting mate.
