  1. Jesus! I log out for a while and all hell breaks loose! I don't suppose anybody got footage of my passes the other night? In particular the one against the Torrie?
  2. The trick is to "start" the burnout in the water (purely to reduce drivetrain stress) and then when ready ease forward until you're out of the water. Once on the dry stuff it "should" start to generate smoke and heat. Dean, Martin uses these tyres -
  3. Joel, I line up in the water, select 2nd, pop the clutch at 4k or so and then let the torque do the rest. The car still moves a little bit but only because I'm still getting the hang of side stepping the clutch and jumping onto the brake in one quick movement.
  4. Many thanks to Mark from www.pulsarparts.com.au for this happy snap. This was my first burnout attempt from Sat night. Piss poor as per usual. My last effort of the night was actually very close to a REAL burnout, as I held it for 3x the length of this one.
  5. Yep I agree Buster. Have two lists: Street radial tyres (RE540S, NT555R, A048R, BFG Drag etc..) Slicks - Which would include MT ET Street's and the like.
  6. That's icing on the cake really. Full ADR approval, 11sec 1/4's and defect free.
  7. If I was looking to upgrade my LS1 powered Holden I'd be very hard pressed to go past the GenX2 kit. It seems like a very well priced package! 427, very nice. Will that see forced induction too?
  8. I guess Holden figured the average farmer wasn't going to be too fussed about having a low CD in the new Tonner Nice power mate! Is it running the Genx2 kit?
  9. Holy shit, 30mph! That's a massive difference over a very short length of track. 92mph at 660' hey? My best is 92mph at 1/2 track. What rwkw and terminals are you getting in the Tonner?
  10. It probably would've been a bloody good and very close match-up btw you and that 32 GT-R Martin. He mentioned his quickest to date was 11.6 @ 125mph. He had a best of 11.8 on Saturday night. I wonder how much extra grunt and ET/TS improvements I'd see from removing my exhaust and interior trim? Naaa stuff it... then it wouldn't be a "full trim street car".
  11. Andy, yeah mate the track was much grippier than the Wednesday night, as you'd expect. I still had 1st and 2nd gear w/spin on most of the passes, but 3rd was fine. As Chops said there was quite a few running, but at least 5 passes would've been had from start to finish. Congrats on the 11.93 Martin, I'm slowly working my way down there. If you go mid 11's at LS1 Nats then I'm out of the ball park again I'd love to head over and run at Heathcote, Keir vs. Theo would be worth the trip alone, but it's just not practical for me atm Henry mentioned Keir has a few 2nd hand sets of 275/40/17 NT555R's up for sale. I wouldn't mind snapping a set up for the right price! Maybe a 1.8-1.9 would see me into the 11's? If Ben did it then I don't see why I can't. Practice makes perfect. Yeah Chops, Wayne got me lined-up in the water and then had me stay on it a LOT longer than I would have normally, and it worked Pity the Torrie stuffed me 'cause I was on a quick one Yep Matty still on the same tyres I've been using all along! It was in my usual 100% street trim. Full interior, full exhaust and a completely chockers tank of juice. I used to be a 14sec driver in a 12sec car, now I'm 12sec driver in an 11sec car I had a run vs. a 32 GT-R - he ran 12.1 @ 122+ vs. my 12.6 @ 119+ and had 97mph at 660' vs. my 92mph. He had a clean pass once of the line, so it shows I've got more top end to come. I just need a clean 5k launch. The 32 had just the drivers seat left in the interior and a side pipe exhaust. Thanks Erica
  12. Sure was Tim.
  13. Thanks Matt. Yeah mate it would've been a sight to see from a spectator perspective! It was a piss off that it happened on my best launch of the night Did you see my last burnout? It was a pretty decent effort
  14. I'm working on it Ben. Have a read of the thread I posted in the SA section, it's a full 03Apr04 AIR street meet report. In brief - I was 99% sure I was on a 12.2-12.3 pass until a rather nasty crash from the car I was running against! Have a read of the full report here - http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...ad.php?p=759773
  15. Thanks for the info Bob. It would've been a good match-up btw me and him then! Mark's R33 has an external gate, Greddy inlet and cams. It should have plenty more left in it still to come.
  16. You missed my point N/A. A good tuner should have the knowledge on what is required to achieve the best results regardless of how the car/engine package is to be used. Be it a drift car set-up, drag car or everyday driver. If the tuner can't achieve the "maximum power on the lowest boost setting and maintain reliability" then what the hell is he/she doing tuning engines!? Dyno tuning prices are relative to how much the tuner wants to charge, how much people are prepared to pay and the time it takes to get the results desired. I'll bet my bottom dollar there's plenty of people that get charged like a wounded bull for a 1hr tune that could easily be improved upon, and that the tuner "can" improve but simply can't be stuffed or takes short cuts with. Of course there's experience involved in tuning, and yes you should expect to pay for that experience. But just because tuner A has more experience with car XYZ it doesn't mean he'll put all his knowledge and time into getting the best results possible. And by the same token tuner B may have less experience with car XYZ but spends the time to really get maximum results. Both jobs may well cost the same but I know which one I'd prefer!
  17. Surely tuning a engine isn't that much of a "black art"? If the tuner has sound knowledge in how to interpret his tuning equipment then he (or she?) should be able to get the best result possible, yes? If the time is taken to safely adjust all that is adjustable then the best possible result should be achieved. The biggest factor I see with management mapping is the time the tuner spends getting everything as good as they possibly can.
  18. Yeah I went and washed the car at the car wash on NE and then headed out to AIR. Would you believe me if I said the Sudholz move was very out of character for me Pawley? I was just warming up for AIR....hehehe My exhaust is still quite restrictive but I'm not game to open it up anymore than it already is. Thanks for the feedback on how she sounds mate!
  19. Thanks fellas I can't wait to go and watch all the guys with new engine combo's that are near completion, such as yours Clint, and Joel too. The ex-JMS R33 was out there last night as well. I'm not 100% sure how he went? Chops and MattR said easy 12's @ 117-120mph, so similar territory to me. Yeah Tim I did my best ever burnout last night! Wayne from Boost Worx lined me up in the water and then gave me signals as to how long and when to drive out of it, it must've been ok 'cause I saw plenty of smoke and Wayne and Shaun were both happy It felt good too
  20. Thanks Dean, on both counts It all happened pretty quick mate, but from a few cars length away it looked like she did the best she could to get the car under control. I was thinking to myself, as it was happening (had that whole time slows down thing going), "yep good she's slowed the car down heaps" I thought we'd both slowed to ~60-80mph as it seemed like I was going quite slow, it wasn't until I saw her fly into the air that I realised just how quick we were both still travelling! She was doing ~95mph when she lost it and I was at ~100mph and gaining on her. I went from 5 lengths back to right beside her.
  21. See sig' for new PB's, ET and MPH
  22. I had PB's all round tonight. Still could've gone better, and on one pass I almost did! Was on track for a 12.2-12.3 until..... I was up against a 9-10sec? (it was f'ing fast!) early model Torana that decided to enter my lane. It got loose at the deep end of the track and started to sway from side to side (tyre shake) this was followed by ~4 or so roll overs (at one stage ~5ft in the air!) with pieces flying off all over the place! The lady driving (wife driving husbands car) to the best of my knowledge has a broken leg and is understandably shook-up! I was pretty shaken up just seeing it unfold right in front and beside of me!!! I backed off @ the 1000ft mark and made a split sec decision, "do I nail it and try to go past to avoid a collision!? or do I slam on the anchors and pull up to stop her from hitting me?" I lifted off the throttle waiting to see what would happen and then as she started rolling on the edge of the track I figure it best to nail it. Thankfully it was a good choice and I got through without so much as a single piece of flying Torrie hitting me. I still ran a 12.55 @ 110.25 (2.051) and I had completely lifted off the throttle from ~1000ft mark due to not knowing what the Torana would do as it began to roll. Given the other results from the night I'd say a 12.2 was on the cards had I not backed off. Mind you if I hadn't of then things may have been very ugly As expected the meet was ended as soon as the Torana crashed. When I left at ~12am the female Torana driver was still in the car. I'm not sure if the car had a rollcage? It sure looked pretty nasty with many badly damaged panels. Hopefully she'll be ok. My passes were as follows: 12.690 @ 119.12 (2.090) 1st gear spun too much and then 2nd let go too. 13.943 @ 117.35 (2.273) Lit up 1st gear and then missed 2nd, still beat the 14.3sec Torana next to me though 12.473 @ 118.34 (2.143) Slower launch but kept the rear end gripping nicely, hence the 12.4. 12.55 @ 110.25 (2.051) Pity about the crash that 'caused me to lift off the throttle
  23. I was thinking the exact same thing Tim!
  24. I was think the exact same thing Tim!
  25. Get the tuning completed and hit WSID. I wanna' see those numbers tumble Matt!
