  1. There are a few of us on SAU running the LT12 (not LTX12) ECU on our RB25DETs. Freebaggin and myself both use the LT12.
  2. Yeah people with GT-R badges on a GTS, bloody stupid if you ask me!
  3. Thanks Dean. It wasn't that busy at all mate. I sort of figured it was a bit pointless, what with my lack of skill and traction issues, but after Shaun, Wayne & Andy gave me a bit of burnout coaching I decided to give it another shot. I actually managed to show a glimpse of ability too! I ran the 12.6 and then there was an oil down. I didn't bother trying again, was happy enough anyway. Ahh ok cool, understand you now Martin Yep I'll follow your tried and tested method as soon as I get the chance. I'd really like to do it on radial tyres ala HPI style, not that I'm likely to get into the top 10 anyway. I guess it's a personal goal that I've always had. I like the idea of driving out to the track on my everyday rubber (which the 540s are) and running the numbers in the same trim it gets used on the road in. I agree though... it is time to get serious and run it in a trim that's likely to bring out its best. I'm a crap driver though, so it's still going to take me a few goes Having said I did set the 2nd fastest lap outright out of 64 competitors on the go-kart track today
  4. Robo, The amount of wheel spin I was getting was very noticeable from inside the car, the back end was wiggling around all over the place through 3rd and even in 4th, so much so that the commentators made mention of it. The other lads there watching could hear/see it too.
  5. Robo, 16psi when cold mate. I did an ok burnout, nothing huge though. I used 3,500-4,000 and drove the car off the line. Fed clutch and throttle as I went. Yeah thanks Matt. Might see you out there on the 3rd?
  6. As my ET's drop my MPH goes up! Usually it's the other way around. I'd say there's more MPH still in it, as the amount of wheel spin in the first 3 gears (especially 3rd) was enough to slow the car noticeably. This was evident by my earlier passes where similiar 60's and "more" w/spin lost MPH.
  7. Jeeze chill out a tad Martin! Upon re-reading my post above I can see it comes across as I'm having a winge, that wasn't my intention! I was just stating the point that it was (as I expected) quite hard to get grip. I think it's excellent that AIR run these low cost street car events. Full credit to them. When funds are available I'll get a set of Nittos. Until then what I've got is fine. As for burnouts, yeah I'm learning. Unlike some I didn't grow up on a diet of burnouts and general hoon behaviour What was that you were saying about... 'quicker ET and possibly slower TS'? ferni, Unless there's condensation dribbling onto the track they wouldn't know if it was on or not. It's not something I'd normally choose to do.
  8. Had a run or 2 tonight. Major traction issues in ALL gears! Best run was 12.654 @ 118.34 (2.141 60ft) With A/C on, whooops!
  9. I'll let the other attendees post their results if they so choose, for now though, here's mine: I had a mixed bag yet again, but this time my launches were showing signs of improvement. The track, as I'm sure the other lads will confirm, was very very slippery! The worst I've ever seen!!! My first pass saw NO traction at ALL in 1, 2, 3 & 4. 190-200km/h across the line sliding all over the place is a very freaky feeling I ran 13.623 @ 112.35 (2.298 60ft) with the wheels spinning the length of the track. I lifted off the throttle a number of times but it made zero difference I actually had a to use A LOT of steering input to stay straight. The second pass wasn't much better, a 13.011 @ 114.73 (2.208 60ft) wheel spin the length of the track again, with a very sideways moment in 3rd! Again I completely lifted my foot of the throttle, but it didn't help 'cause as soon as I tried again... more w/spin At this point I considered giving up for the night, but thanks to Shaun and Wayne (Boost Worx crew) and some burnout coaching tips from Andy (thanks dude!) I decided to give it one last shot. The third and final pass for the night was full of stuff ups. Thankfully the burnout coaching from the lads paid off though I gave it the best burnout effort I've ever done and actually had a bit of a smoke show happening ( still trying to save the 540's as best as possible). I did however forget to turn the A/C off! It was a tad warm in the car with helmet on etc... so I'd turned the A/C on for a sec or 2, and realised it was still on... on the return road! I still had plenty of wheel spin the length of the track, even the commentator mentioned my complete lack of grip through all gears. The results of my final run were, 12.654 @ 118.34 (2.141 60ft) Next time I'll turn the A/C off and hope for better track prep.
  10. Yeah I understand where your coming from mate. Good luck for tonight too, hoping you get a PB. I'm running at the 4, 6 & Rotary Off-street Meet tonight at AIR too!
  11. I'd certainly prefer you to keep posting direct to the SA section! It's a win-win the way I see it, we're part of your target market and we look to you guys for parts etc... I'm sure that Admin would be happy as hell to have you guys as part of the forum.
  12. Using a bloody car is cheating, you dirty cheaters, you're all a pack of cheats! Do it like a man and do the 1/4 on foot!
  13. Jeeze Ad, chill out dude! You're startin' to get some serious attitude comin' across in these posts. Bottom line... who cares what people say (or in this case type) walk the walk and there's no need to talk. You, wreckhead, buster and co are doin' the walkin'. Cheers, Matt
  14. I used to run BCPR6ES & then BCPR7ES, go 1 range colder as horsepower increases by 75-100hp. I now run BKR7EVX or BKR8EVX, why? Well the BCPR's are great up till 17-18psi but near 25psi they didn't like it much!
  15. G'day autObarn, Just a quick one mate... I was just thinking it might be worth clarifying if it's ok to post up items being sold by a business within the SA section of the forums. I don't mean to be a pain, it's just that they (forum admin execs) are quite particular about this kind of stuff. I personally don't have an issue at all, as I think it's great to have you guys onboard Oh yeah... thought i'd mention, FLYLICE isn't the best looking Skyline in Adelaide, as Al has moved the car to Sydney
  16. Maybe the reg on his NOS bottle fell off (ala checker plate F&F style) then the fast escaping NOS launched the car into the air?
  17. On the average Dyno Dynamics dyno I'd expect to see around 155-165rwkw with those mod's. Much more than that and I'd be very happy, or slightly suspect of the dyno. Atm you have no control over your factory ECU, so it'll be the deciding factor.
  18. Thanks Al. I'd not used Rockford before, but Alpine has always been a favourite. Lightning Audio is another I'd not used, or even heard of for that matter. Yeah mate it's US stuff and at $350AU it's pretty decent $ per watt.
  19. You're probably thinking of my car Godzilla? I've got a GT-R front end, badge included, it's a looong story. I'll get around to fitting a GT-S badge one day
  20. A real world drag strip MPH figure is a faaar bigger indicator of performance potential than any dyno number. So yeah, couldn't agree with you more Adrian. I ran 13.0 @ a best of 115.8mph (2.2-2.3 60ft from memory) with ~260rwkw.
  21. Yeah I was thinking Adrian would've had around 260-270rwkw. I've had slightly higher mph and similiar rwkw. Nitrous is bloody impressive stuff! A 50hp shot gives a HUGE improvement.
  22. Dear oh dear, you guys are taking this faaar too seriously Chill out fellas. I couldn't agree more, nitrous is a great low cost way to make solid hp gains. It's not exactly anything that wasn't already well known. Some people think it's cheating, once again nothing new there either! I personally think nitrous is a great little addition. However, the cost/hassle of going for a bigger turbo (plus the other upgrades this requires) is worth it for the permanent hp gains achieved. Gains that can be used 24/7. Edit: From memory Adrian posted $100 for a 10lb bottle refill. Which lasts 200secs at 50hp. That's a lot of 12sec passes!
  23. IMHO I think the reason you're getting a bit of flack is due to the thread title itself, it contains no reference to nitrous assistance. Whack a 'nitrous assisted' in the thread title to make it clear perhaps? Some people may read the thread title and skim through the posts and think your full of shite as your comparing stock turbo + nitrous vs. stock turbo no nitrous. It's a bit of an "apples vs. oranges" situation.
  24. Maybe they could do it 60-70yrs into the future? Vin and Paul could be racing each other through the old folks home on modified wheelchairs. They could have 'Optima' and 'Odyessy'(sp?) as the big brand name stickers across the chairs.
