Hey Andy, I'm up for a rolling run if you're keen But seriously... As printed in the Nissan Japan R33 catalogue, a manual R33 GTS25t is 1370kg and the auto is 1390kg. R33 GT-R is 1540kg. The above weights are all "dry" weight, i.e no fluids. Add about 5kg for eng' oil. 5kg for diff/'box oils. 10+kg combined for coolant, washer fluid and power steer/brake fluids. Add a few extras on top of all the fluids, like a bodykit, larger FMIC (counted by light weight in some cases) and you're looking at over 1400kg for a manual. My car weighed in at 1455kg with just over 1/2 tank and ~10kg of stuff in the boot. Add me (75-80kg - depending on how much gym work I've been doing ) and it's ~1535kg.

Here's some figures to use as a rough guide... My car had a best MPH of 114.9 during the Nat's (17-18psi boost and 44'c air temp) My best MPH from the other night was 117.75 (17'c) However I was also leaking less boost on the 117.75 run (yes still have BOV issues - new BOV coming) and I was also running 21-22psi. The extra boost alone would have made the difference. Temp certainly plays a factor in engine performance, but not THAT much. I also ran dead on identical 12.84 best ET's on both meets! So if the Magna really had 196kw at the front wheels then the MPH should be MUCH higher, regardless of how hot, or how poor the traction. Even with woeful 60's (2.5-2.8) and with hp down due to temp, the power/weight ratio of this Magna should still be good for 100+mph

I knew you were just messin' with me Andy, t'was all in jest Yeah I noticed Diggity had a *few* prob's getting away from BW With your new round of mod's coming up, and once your got the twin plate fully sussed, I say mid/low 12's is on the cards. With 60's like you've been getting it's only a matter of time. If drag racing was all about MPH I'd be doing ok Yeah Steve I was thinking of putting the 10 in my sig' under 'Best ET'. I'd make a few people do a double take lol

I noticed these 2 little quotes on the booyamotorsport website... " The best time of the day, was recorded with a 36.2 degree air temp and humidity at only 18%, these were definitely NOT good drag conditions. Not to mention the track tar was soo hot, i think i ended up with more tar on the side of the car then what was left behind after my burnouts! Getting back to the story, the quickest run was 15.094 @ 91.94 MPH. which is interesting as the slowest pass of the day was only 44.7 degrees and clocked 16.121 @ 86.38MPH. so a 8.5 degree difference slashed 1.027 seconds off my time!" I'm more then confident that had the temp been closer to 20 degrees or so, that a flat 14 or even a very high 13 would well and truly be within reach. A flat 14, let alone a very high 13? Ahh... I don't think so. EDIT: Yes I did see your car at the Nat's Ben. It certainly stands out and I'm sure you're very proud of it, good on you for using a 3.0L Magna as a base for Autosalon style modification. I can't exactly say it's my cup of tea though mate. Any reason why you chose the older 3.0L rather than the more potent 3.5L engine? The reason I ask is I know a girl with a dead stock 3.5L Magna that ran 14.8 in high ambient temps not that long ago. I can 100% confirm the 14.8 and the high air temps, as I was at AIR that same meet.

BOV 4SALE!! (Greddy Type-R)

Offer withdrawn. Sorry. -
Good stuff Andy. Thanks for posting them up Yeah might be a good idea to blank out the plates mate.
-
Yeah thanks Andy... ya smart arse 0.1sec btw us... so far. You'll probably improve now you've got the new clutch. Me... well by the time I've got 380rwkw I should be into the low 12's
-
Ben, You can add my latest numbers to the list if you'd like. Cheers bud ET - 12.870 MPH - 117.75 60ft - 2.476 ET - 12.847 MPH - 115.65 60 - 2.353 TYRES - RE540S TRACTION - NONE! NITTOS - NEED SOME
-
Thanks dude. Yeah I need to work on my shift points and then the mph will come up a touch. A 2.0X 60ft and a clean pass should see mid 12's @ 120mph. I've already got a Whiteline rear camber kit, running -0.4 camber. I think I just need sticker tyres - Nittos. I even had wheel spin issues in 2nd on the RE540's.
-
Once again things didn't quite go the way I would have liked, but that's drag racing for you 2 major problems... 1) The timing system was a bit on the piss, which REALLY annoyed me I can actually claim to have run a 0.892 60ft and gone on to record a 10.141, as that's what the time slip says! It's my car number on the slip too. 2) Traction, or lack of. I couldn't launch hard at all. Even when I tried to slip the clutch of the line it would STILL light it up after the 60ft mark. I did a 2.07 60ft on one pass and then at the 70-80ft mark the rear just let go Now for the runs that did get recorded correctly: 60ft - 2.476 ET - 12.87 MPH - 117.75 60ft - 2.353 ET - 12.84 MPH - 115.65 (short shifted from 4th to 5th - and lost mph) I did a total of 5 passes, 1 that wasn't recorded correctly (which I felt was my best of the night! typical) 2 that I've posted above, and 2 that where full of wheelspin and missed gears. On the 117.75mph pass I had 90.85mph at the 660ft mark. On the stuffed time slip pass I had 91.93mph at the 660 mark. Unfortunately the terminal speed info wasn't on my time slip!!! The mph readings were recording correctly, it was just the time readings that was stuffing up. Oh well maybe next time?

Man I'm stuffed today... a full dyno day followed by a night of drags! Well it wasn't a bad turn out for our little dyno day. Thanks to all involved. For those that couldn't make it down there, maybe next time. It was good to catch up with everyone. I now know my BOV is not up to the task, even after shimming it up it was still getting pushed open and leaking Still 281rwkw is closer to what I was expecting so I'm happy enough. Dean, My guess is your power curve problems are directly related to the AFM maxing out, which causes the ECU to pull timing (minus 20rwkw) then as AFM voltage drops the ECU advances timing again (plus 20rwkw) this gives a series of big dips in the power curve. There nothing the Unichip can do as it's the stock ECU that's calling the shots. John, Congrats on the 12.63 @ 113 mate. I think I need to borrow a set of your Nitto's. A bit of extra driver skill would probably help me too! I'll start a new thread on my drag results rather than add it on to this one. -
Hmmm... Sorry to hear of your problems Dean It's a huge pain in the arse when things like that happen. As you guys have already mentioned I "did" have a Unichip, and it did indeed hit a brick wall @ ~220rwkw. Apart from the 'T' workshop the only other Unichip authorised dealer in SA is over 4-5 hours away. Tim & the RPM guys couldn't do anything with the Unichip (due to them not being authorised) so the only things we could do was play with fuel pressure via my Malpassi. At the time not one single Unichip authorised dealer could confirm if a Z32 AFM would work with my Unichip/stock ECU combo (I rang most of them too! VIC, WA, NSW, QLD etc...) In the end Tim made me a deal on the LT12 Microtech that was to good to refuse I'm bloody glad I took that option too! I have never used workshop 'T' so I can't comment on their work ethic, but I was not confident in letting them attempt to tune my Unichip hence it was the final LT12 deal sealer. Andy, Are you sure the Z32 will work with the Unichip intercepting/modifying the OEM ECU signals? Not saying it isn't possible but I couldn't find anyone who had a clue about it a few yrs back when I wanted to do the same. Even APS couldn't give me an answer.

Saturday is looking quite good weather wise. Min - 18 Max - 28 Ahh... Steve... Boostworxs? What's with the s dude? -
Dunno' Andy? I didn't notice any of your car on the site. I'll have a better look - go here - www.pulsarparts.com.au Suspension is about as sorted as I'm going to get for now Matt. It's got standard rear shocks (although King springs probably make it too stiff) about 0.4neg camber, and the rear subframe bushes are set up for traction. I'm not interested in doing 90/10's It's not like I'm going to set any records, I'd rather see what it can do as is

Don't worry Erica, if you're coming to the dyno day Dean will have his TV there for GP coverage. Never mind the GP through, it's the AIR street meet later in the arvo that it'll all be happening Well hopefully it will be for me. -

Damn, sux to be you Clint... NOT! Give Webber a 'onya mate' from me -
Yeah but it adds character Hiep From memory I didn't launch very hard at all on this pass (due to the stuff up - going on his lights) so it's interesting to note the rear end is still sitting down as it weight transfers.
-
Look what I found! Thanks to Mark @ PulsarParts I have another couple of pic's from the Nat's One is in the staging lanes (didn't bother posting it), the other is me red lighting... doh!

Tim, Sorry to hear you can't make it dude If you're REALLY keen to see how much grunt it has (& you don't need it for the day) you could always get someone else to take it down? Just a suggestion. Matt, Unless there's a massive turn out I don't see it being a prob' for you to set boost on the dyno. I'll be getting Shaun to double check my boost level before we get stuck into it. Have you got an EBC that needs a fair bit of setting up time? If so it might be more of an issue? -
Yeah mate you got it in one, she doesn't let me near it It's got a few drift scars on it now too. Mel, Do you reckon Andy might be getting ready for a bit of Aussie 'Queer Eye For The Straight Guy'? As in Andy is hoping to make it as a host... just kidding mate

Anyone have an Alpine CDA-9807 CD/Mp3 headunit?
whatsisname replied to paulr33's topic in Car Audio & Electrical
Thanks for the feed back fellas! Well here's what I've settled on... Head unit - Alpine CDA-9815 (got this for $800 RRP-$999) Front - Rockford Fosgate 6" splits (not yet sure which model - but quality ones) Rear - Rockford Fosgate HE RFP4806 6 3/4" 8ohm subs (30-150WRMS power range) Amp - Lightening Audio 50WRMS x 4ch Should be a bit better than the dead stock system I have now. Won't add much extra weight either... which is important for "full street trim" legal drag racing -

whatsisname replied to paulr33's topic in Car Audio & Electrical
I'm picking up a CDA-9815 head unit on Thursday so I'll be sure to set it up like you guys have suggested I'm trying to decided if I should bother getting a basic 2ch amp (Alpine MRP-T220 ?) to run the front 6" (SPR-175A splits) or will the CDA-9815 be good enough? I'm not after big bass, but a little bit would be nice. Not interested in subs, too much weight. -
690kg certainly is light... but yeah like you said Andy, they all die eventually. Don't you hate it when your foot slips off too quickly

Snake, Yeah me too mate. She's taken to the Skyline scene like a little champ'. Should see her flying around the house on it! Full speed
