  1. I don't care what day it is, I've got all the spare time in the world as of today
  2. Naaa never seen it before in my life
  3. Well considering we just did a few more dyno runs this arvo, just to make sure all is ok on pump/octane for road use, you can count me in. Shaun did a 3 power runs: 17psi - over 270rwkw 20psi - 291rwkw/7850N 24psi - Holy shite! It's wheel spinning hard ???rwkw/8300+N Shaun's workshop (Boost Worx) is located in Boothby St, Panorama. It's a reasonably quiet street & has room for plenty of street parking. Should be a great day
  4. No prob's Mike. Once you know give me a PM, or post on this thread, & we'll go from there.
  5. G'day Mike, No photos mate, but from Thursday on you can have a look at them in the flesh, & if you want them they're yours for...... say $350. Both seats are in very good condition. I also have a set of early style Recaro's with rails, also all in good condition. Asking $600ono for the pair.
  6. Yeah mate, decided to run lower boost to give that extra margin of safety, this was despite Shaun giving me the 'all ok' to use 20+psi & go all out. I'm saving the 'all out' effort till a cooler street meet. I've driven on prepped tracks a fair few times in the past. The track prep on Sat was very good. Still had wheelspin in 2nd though.
  7. Thanks for the photo guys! Busky, It's been a long time since I last gave drag racing a go, so my shift points were less than perfect, & launches for that matter Add to these factors the temp (power killer) & my choice to run lower boost than I can (17-18psi rather than 21-22psi) & you'd have to expect lower TS's. A boost leak didn't help matters either.
  8. Thanks John Like I said in one of the other threads, I'm happy considering the heat, running with a boost leak (could feel the car down on power on the 12.8) & over 12mths since I'd last hit the strip. I feel a bit bummed at not getting the full potential out of the car, but there's always next time.
  9. SAPOL & Regency pressure has certainly pushed a number of the "nicer/serious" cars into hiding. I for one will not go near a major cruise these days! It really is sad What ever happened to police discretion? We can thank the idiots who act before they nail the throttle/do burnouts & so on for the extreme scrutiny. I'm not saying don't have a bit of fun on the road but think before you act! Rant over.
  10. Thanks for the kind words Steve/Erica/guys As I said on the day John, sorry to hear about the set back Head up mate you'll get it sorted. You know the more I think about how hot it was, & running with a boost leak, the happier I am with how the car went. When's the next street meet?! I probably should wait for Andy (Nightcrawler) to post his #'s, but I'm too impatient He had a best of 13.4 @ mid 100's TS. I think he had 2 or 3 13.4's actually. His clutch was stuggling. Awesome numbers from GTR700! Getting well into Japanese territory. Bloody amazing power from a turbo 2.7L Is Mario using nitrous? I didn't think he was.
  11. A performance engine rebuild price blow out? That doesn't happen very often
  12. Tim, Yeah had a few traction issues mate, on top of piss poor driving & so on.... I tell ya', if a motor can survive getting pushed in those kind of conditions it's doing well. After I found & fixed a boost leak on the way home the car felt very good on 17psi even back on my daily driver map. Anyway here's my little track report from an entrants point of view - Holy shite was it hot out there today! I'm guessing I was well down on power due to the crazy intake temps! Our little Boost Worx set-up included 3-4 eski's full of water & coke, & we cleaned up most of it without any of us taking a piss. Gives you an idea of how much fluid loss through sweat was occuring! At one stage the track temp got to near 70'c So how did I go....? Well it could've been a lot better, even with the temps. I discovered I had boost leak on the way home. One of the boost controller lines had rubbed through against another pipe. It was a big enough leak to hear it once I had little other surrounding noise. I didn't notice the small drop in boost pressure until later, on the drive home. I did a total of 4 passes: #1 Time - 11:51am Temp - 44.1'c 60' - 2.353 ET - 13.52 MPH - 108.03 (Boost controller turned off - not intentionally - oops! 10psi boost. Piss poor bogged launch) #2 Time - 12:22pm Temp - 44.7'c 60' - 2.229 ET - 12.96 MPH - 114.05 (Boost controller on & set to 17psi. Crap launch) #3 Time - 7:21pm Temp - 37.6'c 60' - 2.447 ET - 13.39 MPH - 114.91 (First ever competition pass - red lighted & fouled out. Bogged the launch & then 2nd spun to buggery! 17-18psi) #4 Time - 10:33pm Temp - 34.1'c ( 34+ @ 10:30pm is bloody crazy! That's like Singapore weather) 60' - 2.207 ET - 12.84 MPH - 112.88 (Boost leak caused a noticeable loss of power on this run, & I backed off straight after the finish lights. 16-17psi & leaking) I really need to get my shit togther & at least run a 2.1XX 60' on street rubber - well that's the plan. No slicks, as I'm only interested in running in full road trim @ this stage. Shaun has tuned the motor nice & conservative, it can take can up to 25psi no probs (probably more). He was suggesting I run 20-21psi today but I'm a bit limp wristed & decided to keep the boost down to ~17-18psi. I'll wait till the next street meet & if it isn't too hot (low 20's would be nice) I'll try again with 20+psi on board.
  13. Looking at tonights BOM update there's a tiny chance things will cool down a tad later in the evening...... It does give a Min on Sat & Sun of low/mid 20's though. Saturday : Very hot with freshening northeast to northwest winds, ahead of a *moderate to fresh west to southwest wind change during the afternoon. Becoming milder in the evening*. A possible thundery shower about the northern ranges with the change. Adelaide City Min 24 Max 43 Elizabeth Min 23 Max 43
  14. If your flywheel was slipping it'd mean ALL the bolts had broken, I very much doubt that would happen.
  15. No prob's mate Then again the torque from a 3037S RB30DET combo might prove too much for it?
  16. Having been for a spin in John's road GT-R I sure do agree it's a very nice package! It'd be awesome if it could manage to get into the 9's. It's a big ask to run 9's, considering the car has never been on the strip. Not to mention the heat factor!
  17. It'll be you & me, & damn near EVERYONE else following the same plan mate. F@$&!#G weather It just had to pick the one day a yr that the Nats are on to hit mid 40's!
  18. Joel, Yeah same clutch mate. Xtreme 9 puck ceramic cushion button. We tested my pressure plate & it was 1095kg from memory. I've been really happy with mine so far, very easy to drive in traffic & hasn't even looked like slipping yet.
  19. Yeah about the same as me. Mine was off the road from early Apr till almost mid Dec The wait will be worth it though mate, trust me
  20. Oh yeah, heard on the grapevine that the GT Autosound 200 made 405rwkw tonight! Nice cool temps would've helped.
  21. Dean, Yeah hopefully everything goes well mate. I'd really love the temps to be lower so I could run more boost but if it is hot I'll just take it easy (18-19psi). Andy, Thank dude. Tonight was completely unexpected re temp! If fact tonight would've been the best to take you for a test run. Yeah a heads up btw us would be interesting. You'll probably nail me on ET. I'd like to think I could get the better TS though.
  22. Andy, I'll be out there with the Boost Worx crew & I'm sure SAU people will be welcome to mingle in. We've got a couple of marques going up, BBQ/drinks, chairs, basically we'll have the worx The BX team plan is to get a few qualifying passes in earlier before it gets too hot & then kick back a relax until near the end of the 2nd qual session. If we're already happy with the earlier passes then we won't bother doing any late qualifying passes, we'll just hold off till the comp starts. I've not bracket raced before but was aware of the format & have watched bracket racing many times. In bracket racing Reaction Time is a big factor. Hey I'm only there to have fun & support the BX team & Autobarn, if I go OK it's a bonus.
  23. Update - Drove the car home from the w/shop tonight @ ~11pm. Suprisingly it was very cool! The boost controller was tweaked up a tad (25psi) as I still have a pump 98/LMS mix onboard. Now I know that near on 290rwkw (@ 20psi) is nothing special these days, but with another 5psi on board I'm damn sure it was more than 290 on the way home! I had the 540's spinning in 3rd & a stupid grin from ear to ear
  24. Very nice combo lads, very nice! How long to go till run-in time?
  25. Well thanks to the @#*!ing weather (temp) we haven't had a real shot at tuning on straight ELF LMS Yesterday morning Shaun fitted the Apexi actuator & then late in the evening we ran the car up on pump 98. We had to make a number of tuning adjustments due to the new actuator holding boost muuuch better. The car made just under 260rwkw on the 17psi road map. This is down by ~8rwkw to the previous tuning, but considering it was mid/high 30's & bloody humid inside the dyno cell (@ 9.30pm!) a small drop was to be expected. Inlet temps were in the low/mid 40's due to heat soak from the earlier tuning, which isn't bad considering the ambient temps. The temp/humidity in the dyno room after each run was bloody unbelievable! Good new is the Apexi actuator worked, boost only drops ~1psi now. We decided to give up for the night as it was still 32'c & humid as hell (@12am) & the neighbours were probably getting a bit pissed at the noise Shaun was back at it by 10am this morning (12feb) & has since ran the car on the 1.3bar road map with ~10L of LMS mixed into the tank. It made just under 290rwkw. Shaun is confident of 285-290rwkw on 19psi reliably, all day everyday, on pump 98 + bit of octane boost. We didn’t bother going all out on the LMS as it’s too hot to bother pushing the package harder. It’d be safe to say 300+rwkw is there for the taking on straight LMS with additional timing & milder temps. The bottom line is…….. I wanted a ‘safe’ tune considering the expected 40+’c temps on Sat, and that’s exactly what I got. Here’s a little indication of the potential though……. Whilst doing one of the conservative 17psi tuning runs we accidentally hit 25psi, & although it wasn’t a full power run it made over 7700N of tractive effort & 220rwkw before Shaun backed off @ 100km/h in 4th. On the previous 280rwkw run, in cooler temps, & with more timing, it made 6400N & 180rwkw @ 100km/h in 4th. I guess there’s nothing stopping me from running 25psi, but I’m happy enough with the current power level on 19psi, so that’ll do for now.
