  1. True, very true!
  2. I guess it makes sense Andy..... nice light weight, excellent power to weight ratio (as per your sig), damn good LSD & 6sp box. Bloody S15's Sorry I didn't come on the cruise dude I'm holding off until the car is completely done (tuning & a few other little bits) I figure it's better to do the solo run in thing as I'd probably piss others off with my gay run-in driving style. Mind you after todays 260k stint in the hills I should've gone on the cruise That doesn't sound like you at all John
  3. Now that's just rubbing it in Andy. A 1.82 on everyday road rubber (not even semi-comps!) & you still want more
  4. TE37's & Nittos on a Ford XR6T, you've got to love that combo. Ok, so ya got yaself a decent 1/4 & all, but how 'bout ya circle work maaaaaaaate!!!! ?
  5. Nice job! Congrats John. Was that with the Nittos?
  6. Al, Thanks mate FLYLICE? I no unerstan him. Is like sushi, wonton or dim sim, mabe saki? Pawley, So THAT'S what Andrew was doing up in Port Douglas! He's had himself a little bit of surgery & hair extensions :boobies2:
  7. All the more reason to do the adjustment during a dyno session, as Sydneykid mentioned.
  8. 1.7-2.0bar would be fun on the street Yeah mate the exhaust is very noisy now. Dump pipe mods & deleted resonator saw to that. I've got ~800k to go then it's tune time Hopefully next wk, work permitting.
  9. Joel, In reality though the current rwkw figure isn't really directly comparable to my old figure. The lack of cam gear adjustment, tamer tuning, & different boost characteristics on actuator pressure vs. EBC, would all make quite a difference. Even the ol' different dyno comes into it : ) as an extremely rough stab in the dark I’d say it’d make ~230rwkw on ~0.7bar (using the EBC) with more tuning & gears adjusted. I guess we’ll find out soon. As a comparison an hr or so after Shaun ran my car he did Freebaggin’s car. It made 260rwkw on 1.2bar. It then made 265 then next day (more tuning) & resulted in a 12.8 @ 113.8mph (2.1 60’ ). The final CR for my engine isn't quite as low as first intended either. Going by the info you posted mate I'll probably need ~0.2-0.25 more, if that. EDIT - Sorry mate I got myself a bit off track in my above reply. I must be a bit slow today  My current vs. old rwkw figures have no real bearing to the rwkw/CR/boost theory you posted.
  10. Suppose I may as well continue on with my thread rather than start a new one.... I've been soo damn busy that I've yet to reach a point were we can do a full power tune (pretty hopeless aren't I) I'm not keen to do any daily driving due to the defect situation so it means I'm taking even longer by only doing 200-300k hills runs I did a painfully slow 1,000k's with lots of load, no more than ~5,000rpm, & no boost as best I could (maybe 2-4psi a few X's) After the 1k we put good mineral oil in (change after another 1k for Motul 300V 10W/40) then Shaun gave it a run to ~7k to check mixtures on boost were nice & safe. With the cam gears set back to stock settings (i.e 0), my HKS EVC turned off & very little real power tuning carried out it made just under 215rwkw (~10psi actuator pressure) With more rwkw to be had from tuning, a few more from cam gear adjustment (made good gains with old engine) & then another ~8-10psi boost (on pump fuel) it'll be interesting to see how it goes? I don't think I'll get anywhere near 300rwkw on BP98.

  12. Steve, likewise mate, thanks for the kind words Yes Greg's engine bay is looking very impressive after his latest round of mods. Not to mention the performance! You'll have to drop round sometime mate, we can continue our brief chat from the other night. Sorry I didn't get a chance to drop in again Didn't think you'd like me coming over again @ 1am! You've got to run the car at AIR Steve. It doesn't have to be the 4 6 & Rotary Nat's, just head down on a regular street meet. Wednesday night meets are more Import orientated (less grip though). You'll have a ball & end up hooked like Greg Just take the plates off if you're concerned.
  13. Looks like you guys have it sussed, good stuff! I'll still post my mates results once he's tested his BOV's, just for shits'n'giggles
  14. Hip, Funny you should mention Steve, Al (SLY33) & me, 'cause I've just recently had a closer look at Steve's beast, & I drove past Al's shiny new orange machine at Mile End Autobarn CP only the other day I'd give 1st place to Al hands down. Very impressive looking car with a stand out paint job, wheels, & list of performance mods (growing each day it seems )! 2nd to Steve. Well over 300rwkw, nice bodykit & interior, plus the engine bay looks awesome! I'll take 3rd for now
  15. No prob's mate. It 'may' take a little while for him to reply as he's not a frequent SAU user (posted twice in total) Tell you what, I'll give him a ring tonight & see what he's got to say.
  16. Andrew, A good mate of mine up your way (his nick is 'third' on SAU) has been researching this exact topic recently! He has a '97 GT-R with a quite a few mods (311awkw SAS dyno) & at times runs 20+psi. As you can imagine he's had a wide range of responses on the stock BOV topic. Jim from CRD seemed to think the stock BOV's weren't a problem even at mid 300kw levels (at wheels). We asked a few local Adelaide tuners & one of them said straight away that above 15psi & they "can" leak. He is planning on doing a bench level pressure test to see exactly what psi his BOV's open, may have already done it?
  17. 95GTST, The conditions (track surface/temp etc...) on the day/night will dictate what launch rpm works best. Your clutch will also be a big factor in how best to get your car off the line. Merli's suggested rpm & technique is a good way to go. Very harsh on a stock clutch though. As for predicting how you go? I'd be happy with mid to low 13's (~105-107mph) with your current mods. No no no Andrew you've got it all wrong. He actually wants to know how fast to eat his lunch (rpm lunch) kind of like a bites-per-minute sort of thing
  18. I was thinking more of taking some timing "out" for you, while you & Steve weren't looking J/K
  19. Haha I guess it's only fair that Steve join in as the 2nd Tilbrooks/HKS/PFC car Hmmm.... how do you take timing out of a PFC via the handset? OT - Go the Aussies in the cricket tonight! B. Lee you legend!
  20. Greg, No muckin' around mate, straight for the Nittos! You sure are hooked! Lach, Do you reckon Greg will lend us the Nittos? Just to keep things on a level playing field
  21. Congrats Buster Nice numbers mate, especially that MPH! It'd be a 10sec car on slicks.
  22. Actually 0.4sec is a reasonable difference (as is 5mph) On the drag strip a 12.4 vs 12.8 (assuming even launch) is a multiple car gap. On the road it won't make as much difference, 'cause a 12.4 & a 12.8 will still see you defected just as fast Judging by the lastest AIR results from Greg's & Lachlan's cars they couldn't be more evenly matched! Providing they're the ones doing the driving
  23. A restrictive &/or blocked cat, especially one that's smaller than the rest of the system, is a huge power killer!
  24. Steve, I still remember the Tilbrooks dyno day a yr or so back when Spoolin's (SAU nick) car ran a very low 219rwkw, very low considering his GTS25t had serious mods ex-Japan. The exhaust had a shitty comp cat & backyard cat back section to keep it quiet. The lads replaced the cat with a pipe & fitted the original Jap brand name system (came with the car ex Japan) The car went back on the dyno with tune & set boost level untouched. It ran 282rwkw. Perfect example of how much difference an exhaust can make!
