Ian, To 2 decimal places the conversions are as follows: 1hp - 0.75kw 1kw - 1.34hp My suggestion would be for you to go to your closest proper drag strip (0-400m) & tell us what 60ft, ET & most importantly MPH you get. These figures will go a fair way to telling you how much power you're making (when compared to the cars weight). Even a poor effort on the drag strip will give a good indiction when the full 60ft, ET & MPH is used. Trying to compare YOUR dyno number with our Aussie dyno numbers isn't much good. For starters what type of dyno does your tuner use? How is the dyno configured, i.e what sort of drivetrain to fly difference does it show? For example, the US Dynojet dyno shows a much smaller drop btw flywheel to rw than Aussie dyno's USA 250hp ='s 210rwhp Aussie 250hp ='s 170rwhp As a side issue, what is the Trust TD05-18G rated at? EDIT: - One other small thing Ian, how did you figure your engine to be making 385bhp? I take it the UK dyno's have some form of rw to flywheel conversion, yes? Unless you've had your engine removed & run on a engine dyno even the 385hp figure is a bit of a rough estimate. Cheers, Matt

R32 BEAST, Although I firmly believe you’re beyond help, here's a small suggestion for you. How about you spend a bit more time in class getting the basics of the English language down pat. Have a nice day : )

Yep Steve. The inlet & outlet on the resonator are slightly offset from one another. Looking through it, it's still well designed & wouldn't cause a major restriction (i.e you can see one end to the other) but it's a restriction none the less. If you'd like I'll bring it around to your place ~6pm this arvo Why would I do that? 'Cause friends of the missus just moved in right next door to YOU, & we're going there for dinner
-
R32 BEAST, CONGRAT'S! You've just claimed the SAU "Stupid Post Of The Year" award, otherwise known as the SPOTY (kind of like a pimply 15yr old kid). As the original poster of the quote you've used above, you might like another bit of info on Keir's R32 GT-R. To run the sub 10sec times he did back then (has now gone 8.8) it would of cost over ~$350,000. Hey! All you R32 GT-R owners (in fact all turbo Skyline owners) why are you all so hopeless over the 1/4? Everybody knows you've got a 9sec car waiting for the taking!!! Just sell your house & pour every single $ you have into you car & bingo 9sec's

Guys I beg to differ re resonators! The Trust system on my car has a resonator (offset design) that I recently had flanged for easy install & removal. Bloody hell did it make a difference! With the straight through pipe exhaust note is deeper (very tuff sounding ) & it certainly is louder. Thankfully it's not annoyingly loud due to the design of the Trust muffler. I'd go as far as to say I'm 99.9% sure there's an few extra rwkw to be had with the resi out. With the resonator in - exhaust is very quiet until you go WOT (just what you need for cruising). In fact the turbo/induction noise is faaar louder. With the resonator removed - extra exhaust noise/deeper note is noticeable even at idle.

Danny put on a display of Aussie drift at it's best, you've got to give credit for that, pity the car didn't last a few more laps.
-
You've got to be happy with 265rwkw on 1.2bar mate
-
Lach, Just go with the 12 X 24m stuff & get huge front bar to match
-
Good to hear it turned out all OK mate. Feels good to back on the road doesn't it How many km's are you going to do before a serious dyno run?
-
Matt, how'd you go with the pistons? James mentioned the quailty wasn't the greatest, which was surprising given they're OS Giken Did you end up taking the bottom end out of the car?
-
They do look good in the flesh people. IMHO the only styling mistake Nissan made with the S15 was the bland rear end lights. Hence I quite like Andy's new set-up.
-
After seeing them in the flesh, you know I like them
-
Don't most motors Danny touches go .... :Bang:
-
Joel, I take it you haven't budgeted for an R33 g'box upgrade?
-
Time for a Z32 AFM & some 550cc'ers.
-
Sounds like the car is progressing well Al
-
Ah yes! Nice addition there mate, forgot about that one What about... Most number of broken ringlands?
-
Dear oh dear. Almost got sucked into the, mine is better than yours, debate There's no doubt that the LS1 powered Commodore/Monaro is a reasonable quick beast from the factory. With a few $$$ it can be made to run very quick numbers. Henry, Rob & Matt's cars are three local examples. I think we should have an RB vs. LS1 challenge! Challenge #1 - How many laps of Anzac Hwy before receiving a defect Challenge #2 - Quickest time up EOTH towing a boat Challenge #3 - Largest number of, 'ful sik bro', comments on one pass of Rundle St (bonus points awarded if you also collect a defect during this challenge) Challenge #4 - Ahhh.... well you all get the idea. Feel free to add more

How many KM'S have you done on forged pistons?
whatsisname replied to Cubes's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I was out at AIR with James & Shaun @ the last AIR comp/street meet & James was talking about how poor it is to see freshly rebuilt engines in this day & age that burn oil. -
Increasing CR. Pin Height or Deck.

Exactly! If Porsche, BMW, Ferrari & the like can use forged pistons over the long term life of their engines how is it that aftermarket suppliers can't achieve the same results!? One of the reasons I chose to use CP pistons is due to fact that they supply to both Porsche & Ferrari for use in factory engines. -

Joel Joel Joel, mate you're gunna' research youself into an early grave! I'm sure if you talk to enough people & read enough web info you'll get answers/opinons that vary wildly. I can honestly say I have never heard anyone complain about the life of a forged piston equiped engine. Edit - Cold starts - no change from when it was stock internals. Basically the engine is as smooth (if not smoother) than it use to be! The choice of pistons is one thing but the quality of the build is the big one (ie tolerances) -
C'mon Martin you know better than that... Apples with apples please. What if we applied the same, 'HPI Street Drag Challenge radial tyres only policy', to the above LS1.COM.AU Quick List? The list would be muuuch shorter. Judging by the 60's (& the 'S') I'd say it'd leave NIL Edit - To be fair the GT-R's AWD advantage doesn't make some of the ground up against slicks (note 32Godzilla 1.7 60').
-
Hell yeah mate! But keep the RB26 in there, just whack a blow-through triple Webber carbie set-up on it. SR910, Yep I 100% agree with you re the HKS drag car & the like. The HKS car uses an air shifted box doesn't it? I'd have thought it would be reasonably good anyway?
-
SR910, AFAIK the Japanese prefer to keep a manual gearbox so as to have more of an all round 'street' drag car. Of course auto is the way to go for straight line speed, no doubt about that. It all comes down to compromise. How far is one willing to go to be fast over 400m & compromise the rest of the 'street' car package? To me personally, I see an R32 GT-R with a 2sp Powerglide as a horrible waste. I'd rather a low/mid 11sec GT-R that can handle the twisty stuff as well as the straight line stuff, than a 10sec 2sp pig. When you're talking BIG horsepower record breaking stuff (ie Kier, John, Mario, Croydon NZ etc...) then it's a different story. The defect list on the ex-JMS R33 would be nasty

Probably not far from the truth.
