'Boost Worx' JZA70 Supra runs 10.8 @ 125+

In the US there are internally stock 2JGZTE JZA80 Supras into the low 9's. I have heard rumours that a couple are even into the 8's! -

LOL Yeah Joolz, Ben mentioned that little run with Jaffa. He said it was neck & neck..... & then he got traction. -
I headed down to AIR tonight (06Dec) to lend a hand to Shaun, Ben & co as they were running the 'Boost Worx' backed yellow 2JZGTE powered Supra (ex-RPM car). Ben ran a string of low 11's @ over 127mph before finally getting the car to run closer to its potential with a PB of 10.8 @ 125+. The mph was down on the earlier passes as an IC hose blew off going into 3rd gear. The car should run closer to 10.4 with a few more tweaks. All passes were on ET Streets (DOT approved) I'm not sure if they qualify for the HPI Street Drag Challenge or not? I'm sure most will agree that the 2JZGTE is an awesome engine. Ben's Supra runs a dead stock internals 2JZ. Another car worth mentioning was the factory standard new 3.5L V6 Magna (base model) whose female driver ran back to back 14.8 - 14.7 mid 90mph passes (best of 14.7 @ 96mph). The only mod was a slight change to the air box feed.

Steve, No you've got it right mate, there's enough room to get in there without removing the plenum. Joolz, Thanks dude Certainly am keen to get it back on the road, although it's going to be painfully slow waiting till I've run it in. The engine was rebuilt by James @ Nisspeed, with the rest being done/organised by Shaun from Boost Worx & a few things by myself. -

Hip, It probably just looks bright red 'cause I've polished inside the engine bay. It's amazing how much grime builds up in there! The blue cable thing on the left is my new DIY injector loom to suit the Denso 550cc injectors. Mate don't even mention the 'D' word! It gives me sleepless nights just thinking about how much of a pain in the arse a defect will be Knore, Thanks mate. To be honest I'm not really sure on a price for the engine as it is now? It's been spaced out over 3+yrs. A ball park guess for everything (all internal / external / bolt on performance & appearance mods) would be.... ~14+k. Probably more if I really sat down & started listing everything! Steve, Yeah me too mate! Ahhh... yes... very good point re the loom. The guys were so keen to get the motor back in the car they didn't wait for me to finish the loom! It only took me 1.5days to find 2 plugs that matched the 4 James already had. Mind you with a bit less crap in the way it "should" be easier to fit & connect the loom. -

Oh yeah, forgot to add...... If anyone is looking for injector plugs to suit Denso 550cc'ers, believe it or not Ford Festiva Trio plugs are an exact match! Right down to the exact same appearance & only one shade off the same grey colour! Took me 5 local wreckers & numerous engine bays to discover that though. I think my DIY injector loom came up a treat -

B-man, No prob's mate, happy for you to post away Nice turbo choice! The manifold looks excellent too. Looks like both our new engine packages will be running very soon! Here's my latest pic - -

Dean, Thanks dude. I can't wait myself! Hip, Thanks mate Hmmm... dunno' if the car is quite up to Autosalon standard, not that I'm worried if it is or not. The engine bay should look nice once it's finished though Maybe I can put a huge Greddy sticker across the windscreen? It'll make driving the car much more challenging -

Thanks R33man. There's actually quite a bit still to be finished off in the looks department. Heaps more blue hose, braided lines, Speedflow fittings & stainless allen head bolts & so on.... The work is being done by James @ Nisspeed Performance Engines in Modbury / Shaun @ Boost Worx in Panorama & some of it by myself. The blue hose I've sourced from all over Adelaide over the last 1-2yrs. Autobarn stock it. Most decent performance workshops stock it or can order it in. -

Small price to pay for all the positives 7.5L of oil capacity brings. -
LOL naa not yet, but I've had her drifting around the house

Thanks guys Yep I'm a very proud dad. I think she's cute as a button, but then I'm biased. The new pic is much better!

I would if I knew more mate? Shaun & James have both assured me the stock inlet gear has a reasonable range of adjustment. It's a pain in the arse to adjust but then so is the ext gear. I'll let you know how we go once we've tuned my car. -
It's even got the same Bridgestone Potenza's as dads real Skyline! And Volk rims too!
-
Sorry dude minor technical hitch, I'll have it sorted in a sec'.

Very nice B-man! What capacity is the new sump? Let us know how it goes once it's tuned mate. doglet, I organised the ceramic coating through Shaun @ 'Boost Worx'. The coating mob are located in Holden Hill, dunno' what their name is though? All up it was $440 to coat the following; - plenum - throttle body - factory cross-over pipe - IC pipes (comp outlet to IC & IC outlet to cross-over) - custom inlet piping - timing belt covers - exhaust manifold / heat shield Steve, Thanks mate. Mine should be back in by the end of the week. Sounds like your beast just gained a lot more potential too! Did you know the stock inlet cam gear is adjustable too? -
On that point.... I've thought about entering my car in a show, but I'm not really into the over-the-top stuff that most of these Autosalon style cars seem to favour so I probably wouldn't generate much interest. My car is quite plain from an external/interior point of view. I'd consider doing a group SAU entry once my car's back on the road though.

Matt (BOOSTD), Dunno' why #1 seems to be the first to go? From the stock manifold flow bench results you'd think 1 & 6 would be least likely to run lean? It may have something to do with either, a. fuel rail pressure as you go start to get serious with fuel demand, b. temperature due to less cooling airflow, c. stuffed if I know? AutoTrust, Thanks. Oh yeah, you can add... nothing like getting flogged by Excels & Lancers off the lights whilst your slowly running the new motor in, to your list too Bl4cK32, I did 95% of it myself. Then James had them finished off by his usual polishing mob, dunno' who that is though? They also did the CAS & fuel rail. It took me a good few hrs to get the rocker covers & factory cross-over pipe to look 95%! The hard part is getting past the rough casting stage, especially on the pipe! After all my hard work I ended up getting the pipe ceramic coated anyway Still a better starting point gives a better end result. I couldn't be stuffed polishing up the plenum so as you can see it was ceramic coated as is. As was the throttle body, IC pipes & custom inlet pipe. -
Now this is a broken ring land!

My #1 was missing about the same sized piece, but NO WAY NEAR the level of surrounding damage! Nasty detonation has been occuring there. -

Might come for a look mate. Is not having my car back on the road yet a good enough excuse for not racing? -

Yep. #1 had a 2" section of cracked ring land. The others where fine.
