John,
Yeah I've already managed to piece together almost all of the details on MattR's new car
308rwkw @ 1.4bar (dropping to 1.2bar) TD06 RB25DET in a white R32 GTS-t with multiple fancy bits already fitted (including the 25DET & R33 g/box).
The only bit I haven't already read elsewhere on the forums is the 1X.XX @ XXXmph bit
The "best" way to make a R32 GTS-t seriously quick - stick an RB25DET in it. Relax everyone I'm just j/king (sort of)
That's what I'd call an all-round damn fine pass mate
2:20pm, fine sunny & a nice crisp 17'c
Old school V8 vs late model Jap.
He gets the holeshot on you & you chase him down for the win.
Then you go on to record a 12.
Perfect!
Dave,
111+mph is more than some people would have you believe the stock turbo & injectors can manage!
That little stock turbo is a freak for sure It provides minimal lag, hence the quick 1/4 even with a so-so 60ft, yet has big top end to run 111+.
Matt,
be very careful about what you upgrade your turbo with. You could go backwards!
Looks like AIR got its shit together this time! The warmer day time track temp' would certainly help. It was faaar from ultra sticky last s/meet .
Damn I wished I'd gone now Nightcrawler set a PB this meet too.
Very nice Andy! Soon to see 12's mate.
OK time to spill the beans Matt/Pawley!!! What is this new white 32!? Let me guess it's a 32 GTS-t with RB26 power? Regardless of what it is - how quick did Terry/JMS get it down the 1/4?
Oh & how did Ben go? (Yellow RPM Supra)
First things first mate - TOP BLOODY EFFORT Matty! Like Andrew said, that mph is awesome.
Forget all other road rubber & go with NT555R's. If you can't get the power down till 3rd then it's either Nittos or slicks for you (see Andrews comments below).
I don't know if the clutch I went with is going to last very long with the power your car is making? It has a claimed 600hp on it though. I'm not sure exactly what the pressure plate is rated at with the off-the-shelf version but I requested ~1100kg (this was too much for my master/slave cylinders so they needed to be O/H'd). It's a little on/off but still very easy to live with. I've not stalled the car since fitting it Most importantly I haven't had it slip even after a few hard launches (1 on the strip the rest on the street).
Here's a link to the clutch kit on Tim's site http://www.horsepowerinabox.com/mall/ck06.asp
Here's the straight button version - http://www.horsepowerinabox.com/mall/ck05.asp
Some of the forum guys are talking a group buy on the HIAB cushion button (same one as mine). It retails for $750, Tim will do it for $730 & group buy less again.
Do a search on “clutch” & you should find a few threads on the ACS/Xtreme clutch (HIAB kit)
Cheers,
Matt
Matt,
Happy b'day for the other day mate
Good luck on Sunday too. Probably won't make it (family stuff on - see Andy's 'out with the boys' comment) plus a few of my engine bits are missing & in the process of being made 'slightly reflective', by me (I have sore hands)
The f/pump primes before "start". Is it called "ignition"? Can't remember. Basically when the dash warning lights come on.
What ECU is the engine running off? I'm assuming that your car is an S13 with RB25DET transplant?
Have you checked the following:
Fuse
Fuel pump relay
I paid $350ish (think it was 350? Certainly under 400) for a new genuine Nissan w/pump & timing belt. Both installed. Thanks Vince (Rigoli).
I didn't want to take any chances so I got them both done. That way I knew they were new
Dave,
230rwhp (172rwkw) @ 4700 is bloody impressive! Given that peak power isn't till 6800 stock. If you've dialed the HKS cam gear for more top end then the peak might be even higher?
My estimate of mid 190rwkw is lookin' good It might go even higher!? Especially when you're running conservative timing & nasty rich.
While on the A/FR's, 9:1 isn't very healthy @ all You might have dialed in a little too much cushioning! Not quite as bad as too lean, but still not good.
You missed the point. Nobody said anything about "not enjoying" the horsepower, it's more a case of getting used to it & then wanting to experience that, 'WOW this feels fast' feeling again.
Show pony? I've never entered a car in a car show in my life, not intending to either. I don't give a rats arse if someone has more rwkw than me either. Do I enjoy putting that power to use on the street & strip? Hell yes!
Good to see all is well now mate (many $$$ later).
So on the pre "bad news" test drive did it make any nasty noises? Anything else (other than the oil out the BOV & solenoid)?
Thought it'd be a good idea to get a bit of this kinda' info on the forum, for future reference.
Adam,
Out of interest, what were the symptoms of your broken ringland? Was it a major failure that was obvious (bang, smoke, noises that shouldn't be there etc) or a gradual thing? I'm guessing there was audible detonation?
Cheers,
Matt
