  1. Good stuff! Congrat's Erica
  2. Done mate Edit: I just noticed - "Lancer" VR4?
  3. I've been running a GTS25t plug'n'play LT12 since they first hit the market. I couldn't be happier with the way my car drives & the options the LT12 opens up A number of forum regulars have been in my car & can confirm "MY" car's driveability is excellent. However, as SLY33 mentioned, if your local tuner/s don't know the product well or don't use their knowledge & skills properly then you can end up with a less than enjoyable experience. One last thing, for those LT12 users out there - Get yourself an LTseries 2 line handset! Damn handy little piece of gear for only ~$150 Cheers, Matt (happy LT12 user)
  4. Sinesweep/hip, The "no spectators" ruling is due to insurance issues. AIR's insurance policy is very clear cut, private track hire day - NO spectators I think you'll find drivers, "pit crew", media & AIR staff are covered seperate to general public. With ~50 cars entered (& therefore 100 pit crew permited) surely there'll be a few spare "pit crew" spots that people can take advantage of!?
  5. Hip, Every dyno day I've been to each entrant has had at least a couple of power runs (2-3). So you'll get a chance to do a low boost run, & then a high boost run
  6. The only thing ZE502's are good for is tread life. I had heaps of tread left on mine when I ditched them.
  7. It totally depends on the quality of the tyres you're using! And the road surface of course. Poor quality &/or worn tyres will spin even @ very low rpm (~2,000rpm) Even good tyres that have "gone off" will be very hard to launch without excessive w/spin. It's a case of practice makes perfect! Go for a drive & see how YOUR tyres hold up? If the car bogs increase the rev's until it gets away cleanly. The above info is dependant on the launch method. I prefer to dump the clutch, but slipping the clutch & feeding power on can help if your tyres are shitty. To give you an idea - I couldn't launch at anything more than 2,000rpm on 255/40/17 Falken ZE502's but now on the same size RE540S's I can take off @ 3,500+rpm.
  8. I noticed someone mentioned Nitto's earlier in this thread. I'm assuming they ment NT555R's? Nitto make a range of different tyres not just street legal drag tyres. Unfortunately the Nitto NT555R Extreme Drag don't come in 235/45/17 or 255/40/17 They do make a 275/40/17 though. I'll be going for these on my next rear rubber change If they fit!? Nitto claims 15,000 miles from an NT555R. That's life to legal tread depth in NORMAL road use! I'd say 8,000-10,000kms max in spirited road use & occassional drag use. Read here - http://www.nittotire.com/tire_nt555r_overview.asp They look pretty cool Oh yeah, forgot to add - I've compared my RE540S's to NT555R's. The tread compound is the same (very soft) it's the sidewall that makes the difference. 540 - stiff as buggery for circuit use (like the Nitto 555RII) 555R - soft as buggery for drag use.
  9. Chris, I'll add that to the list of things to ask AIR about. They "should" have a vehicle for recovery as part of the track hire fee!?
  10. >>M1_IMPORTS<< & hippy, A few extra mates cars shouldn't be problem. Martin? Just post their first name & car type & I'll put them on the list. Cheers, Matt
  11. I'm already full up sorry Brad I'm sure someone will have a spot for you. Sooo that's the secret I've been missing out on - FLOOR IT!
  12. They only make you hungry in the morning, not sleepless:D
  13. Ben, I think the GT-R owners quote in my post above, "I thought I was wheel spinning too much off the line", sums it up. He only "thought" he had too much w/spin! As you can see from his 7k launch & 60ft improvement, big rev's is best. This is a GT-R mind you. RWD is a whole different ball game! On a fully prepped drag strip your 1,700-2,000rpm launch would see you bog down badly! 3,000rpm on shitty Falken ZE502's was still low enough to bog down a touch. I can launch @ 3500rpm on the road & get away cleanly (minimal w/spin) That's RE540S's for you I've yet to get a clean launch on the drag strip. 3,000-3,500rpm & I bog (the car not me!) 4,500+ & I use to get too much wspin &/or clutch slip. Now I've got a decent clutch, good grip & just need some more drag strip time.
  14. :werd: Just look at the difference between hub & roller dyno figures.
  15. Hmmm good ? I'll find out Might be a good day for a BBQ? A few pit crew members might like to "pit crew" the barbie
  16. Jeff, I agree that MPH isn't greatly effected by the launch. But a good launch certainly seems to give that extra few MPH, providing the rest of the pass is trouble free. Having said that my best TS was recorded on my worst launch :burnout: W/spin got the car on boost real quick! Didn't help my 60ft though 2.667 I vaguely recall an R32 GT-R owner posting a string of timeslips in an earlier thread? The quicker his 60ft the faster his trap speed (by ~2-3MPH) Hmmm, I'll see if I can't dig that thread up? Found it! 1st run... 5 grand dump, as i usually do on the street. 60 foot - 2.024 ET - 13.129 MPH - 106.52 2nd run... i thought that i was wheelspinning too much off the line so i took off at a 4 grand dump (wrong thing to do!) reaction time 60 foot - 2.310 ET - 13.903 MPH - 104.61 3rd run... on this run, we all decided that i just launch at a 7 grand dump. the car rocketed! 60 foot - 1.881 ET - 12.776 MPH - 107.41
  17. Paul, Spectators are not permitted. Sorry mate Entrants are allowed 2 "pit crew" (themselves & 2 others). The "pit crew" may choose to sit on their arse & watch if they so desire Cheers, Matt
  18. The S15 is a bit of a hole shot weapon (for a RWD). Nightcrawler's S15 is a perfect example. Minimal mods (exhaust/FMIC), 1.90 & 1.93 60ft's on stock rubber, with stuff all drag racing experience! Nightcrawler's best 1/4 numbers are 13.4 @ 104 Hmmm? Strangely familiar?
  19. Yeah sure mate I'll sticky the thread for starters.
  20. tN^, I'll put you down on the list I'm keeping mate. Anthony & another GSR/EVO club member are already on it. Ivan is keeping me informed of ALL entries so my list stays up to date. Cheers, Matt
  21. Awesome numbers, especially on that rubber! Got any footage of the run?
  22. Thanks Jeff. Yeah it's just a matter of practice practice practice Removing subs & doing tyre pressure changes, ahhh that's still street trim to me. Gotta' have the spare in though Need that weight over the rear end! As with me, you've got the mph for a 12 no prob's. I think we chatted re my turbo once before? I don't actually know what the exact spec's are unfortunately T3/T4 Garrett non BB built by Precision Turbochargers & not a high flowed stocky. That's about the only things I know 100% Full mod list here (2nd post from the bottom) - http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...25&pagenumber=6
  23. Perfect example of "take no notice of dyno figures" (apart from tuning) 210rwkw & it runs 115mph - That's either the lightest Z32 300ZX TT around or it's making very good power! Mind you having visited Willowbank a few times (& watched TRY09 run) I can see how people get top ET's & TS's there! The track there is bloody awesome :uh-huh: I only wish we had the same quality of track & the backing here in Adelaide When TRY09 & the Subzero guys came down for the 4,6 & Rotary Nat's try as Brett might he couldn't get it to hook up @ all on the AIR drag strip. Now I know TRY09 spun like crazy even @ Willowbank but not the whole length of the strip like AIR!
