  1. riggaP, I've posted my full mod's list a few times on here I think? Here goes again "Internals are untouched. The turbo is a plain bearing T3/T4 combo using new (at the time) Garrett components. Exact spec’s I don't know unfortunately T04E or T04B compressor - 0.64A/R turbine housing? I'm only guessing with this info though. The turbo combo was selected & fitted by Vince Rigoli, & built by Precision Turbocharger’s in Sydney. The 257rwkw was on the Tilbrook dyno. Tim (ex-RPM PC head honco) & Martin Donnon did the tuning of the LT12 Microtech. Here’s a “full” listing of all current mod’s (warning – there’s plenty of ricey ones in there ) MODS Trust exhaust system & dump pipe K&N pod / CAI / Custom airbox(h/shield) T3/T4 Garrett turbo Adjustable cam gear (4' retard - exhaust only) Custom FMIC Custom inlet piping (nil AFM) Samco silicon hoses 16" DC thermo fan HKS EVC Microtech LT12 ECU Microtech LT series 2 line handset Bosch '044 fuel pump Malpassi RR adjustable reg ( increased base pressure) NGK BKR7EVX plugs Oil catch can, braided lines & anodised fittings Braided & blue silicon lines throughout eng' bay GFB "Basic" BOV (flows more CFM, & is quieter than, most “look @ me” loud valves”) Trust oil cap / rad' cap Anodised & stainless fasteners throughout eng' bay Xtreme 9puck cushion button ceramic clutch 2400lbs pressure plate F17x8 R17X9 Volk wheels Bridgestone RE540S semi-comp tyres 235/45/17 255/40/17 Optional s/skirt kit, GTR front bar/grill Unknown origin rear wing EBC Greenstuff brake pads + Motul RBF600 fluid King Springs (30mm lower) Whiteline front strutbrace Whiteline s/bars Whiteline camber kit Whiteline rear sub-frame align/lock kit Autometer boost gauge in 'A' pillar pod Pivot shift light on the 'A' pillar Trust g/knob & Momo pedal set Momo Race wheel & HICAS boss kit Leather re-trim (handbrake, g/boot etc...) Optima Yellow Top D34 650CCA dry cell battery Boot mounted battery isolator & new battery cabling Numerous other minor bits'n'pieces Blah blah blah………" The dyno figure doesn't really mean much. The drag strip info is what I'm more interested in.
  2. Water in the 'burnout area' is mostly to prevent drivetrain shock loading. The rev's required to spin the rears (especially slicks) on a dry track could potential cause damage. Hence water is used to ease the load, & rev's needed. And as DennisRB30 posted above - Big slicks need temp to hook up well. You don't want those slicks hooking up during the warm up burnout! No burnout on street tyres - hmmm? I still prefer a small burnout (& I mean very minor) You certainly need some heat on semi-comp R compound rubber or they will spin wildly on launch (well mine do - badly!) 4500rpm launch - no burnout - massive w/spin 4500rpm launch - small burnout - hooked up nicely, until the clutch cried enough.
  3. All drag day info is now confirmed The day will run from 10am till 5pm. We tried for a later start-finish but AIR wouldn't come to the party Oh well, hopefully it's a nice cool day (with NO RAIN). The forum entry list will be monitored by Ivan (as per above) so there'll be no dramas with anyone missing out who's already entered. We've decided to aim for all payments to be in at least 1WK prior to the event. That way if people pull out we have plenty of time to fill their spot. We'll have a reserve list for just this reason (all entries above 50 will be reserves). I would almost guarantee people will pull out so keep the entries coming people! Aim to get to AIR right on 10 (or a few minutes before). The first car on to the track should be no more than 10mins later Then it's on for young & old till 5pm. Cheers, Matt Iv, Thanks for the opportunity to run this day in the first place mate Especially @ a decent price given the lowish number of cars.
  4. Congrat's Jeff. Nice effort mate Your new ET/TS is very simliar to my old times (13.1 @ 109.5 - 2.153 60ft) I had 215rwkw at that stage, once again similar to your 205rwkw mark! Good luck with 12's mate. I've been knocking on the door for a while. Last s/meet, with the stock clutch finally replaced, I was very confident of a 12. But 1 pass (which I stuffed up) in 5hrs put an end to that. Cheers, Matt
  5. Yep good call Henry. I've already asked Ivan to keep me up to date from his end (RPM customers) The recent additions to the "Current Entry List" are regular RPM customers. I will update the list regardless of where the entry comes from so we all know who's entered. The forum list has priority. Ivan is actually a member of this forum & has been keeping up to date with the 2 threads. *Although I've given until 1wk prior to pay, paying sooner rather than later would be best. That way it's all done & out of the way* Hopefully I'll have the times info today.
  6. Ivan WILL, if need be, cover the difference if we don't make the necessary numbers. 47 cars = $3,995 ($4,000 to hire AIR) That's a pretty generous gesture I think!
  7. Andy, Sorry dude nothing we can do AIR cannot run a private meeting with both lanes open fullstop. If they do it is considered the same as an open meet! Why? I don't know? That's just the way their insurance cover is. Even if we wanted to have heaps of spectators (10 per person for example) it then gets classed the same as an open meet! Insurance company policies often don't make sense AIR's policy is one of these I guess? It does make sense though, when you think about it. 2 cars side by side increases the chance of a serious accident quite considerably. As for AIR not covering costs on regular s/meets if the insurance cost were so high - The driver entry fees are only part of the earnings from a s/meet - Spectator fees ($17 per head) Vendor stall takings (& fee's from the vendor to be there in the first place) Their overheads wouldn't be all that much either. My 50k insurance quote is probably a tad over the top but it would be more than we could cover with 50-60 private entries! I'd say if we had a lot of funds we could probably organise just about anything we wanted out at AIR. But with 50-60 cars it's not gunna' happen A good work mate of mine was a top level comp drag competitor (7sec Thunderbird) he travelled OZ & competed with full sponsorship. A sponsor that hired the AIR track regularly just for him & his car! He told me earlier today they priced up what it cost to hold a full comp meeting (big event!) It worked out close to $200,000 to set up & run! This included advertising, insurance cover, the whole lot. This guy doesn't bullshit!
  8. Thanks Erica Might be better to hold the cheers till after the event though Don't wanna' have things go wheels up on me before it happens! Then it'll be "3 kicks in the head for Matt".
  9. The drag day is booked for Sat' 31st May. If the weather turns nasty on us it will be held the following Sat' (& so on). The event will be single lane only. Unfortunately that's the only way a private day can be held, unless we have a spare 50k+ (probably more!?) to cover insurance costs That just means - when you're up - ALL EYES ARE ON YOU! 2 pit crew members is fine. Total track hire fee is costing $4000. This includes full track prep, staff & timing gear. We will aim for 50 cars. Entry fee is $85. This will mean a small amount left over to cover prizes. 50 cars will mean ok prizes. If we get 65 cars - excellent prizes... & so on! With only one lane 50 cars is probably more than enough. Entry fee is to be paid by dropping in to RPM Performance Centre -26 Deloraine Road Edwardstown 5039. Ivan has entry forms to be filled in there & then. Payment needs to be made 1wk prior to the event date. We should know the times within a day or so. We're aiming for 12.30pm till 7.30pm. That's about it for now Cheers all, Matt If anyone has any issues with anything regarding the day pls PM me & I'll do my best to help
  10. ACS - Adelaide Clutch Services Xtreme - brand they (ACS) sell their performance clutch kits under 9 puck cushion button ceramic - the type of clutch The Horsepowerinabox price of $750 is very good! The only reason I got it cheaper (& with an upgraded pressure plate) is a good friends father-inlaw is mates with ACS's owners Plus it helps I'm in Adelaide. You'll find the Xtreme clutch kits are sold all over the country - via HIAB
  11. I've just fitted the same clutch as the one Tim is selling @ Horsepowerinabox. It's an ACS (Xtreme) clutch. 9 puck cushion button ceramic. I got mine for a tad less - $730. I also got a much higher spec pressure plate than the kit normally comes with. It's very streetable. It still has a bit of a grab to it but its far from ON-OFF. I haven't had it slip yet. I'd recommend this horsepowerinabox $750 kit no prob's. Edit: I don't think I'd be putting one in if I had 800hp though! Up to 500hp sure but not 800hp!
  12. The factory R33 battery is a POS! It's rated @ 270CCA - that's pretty average for a modern fuel injected car with all the mod cons. I started by replacing my stock battery with an Odyssey ES12V800 (~$300) 400CCA (800A start pulse) boot mounted battery isolator & new quality cabling. The Odyssey died in less than 6mths! Yep my Odyssey dropped a cell in 5 or so mths. I tested it, 2 battery specialists tested it & then finally an Odyssey rep came down from Sydney (as he believed it was me that had caused its failure) I asked him to explain just how I had caused its failure? I even offered to allow him to go over my cars elec'/charging system, my battery isolator s/w & cabling, even run tests for alternator charging voltage, reg serviceability etc. The end result? The Odyssey rep didn’t even have the decency to apologise to me when it was proven to be a dud battery! I got my money back. Stuffed if I wanted another Odyssey if that’s how they treat an honest customer! I did nothing more than buy & fit the Odyssey battery. It was installed correctly & was never called upon to do anything more than is claimed it can (deep cycle etc.) I work in the aviation electrical field so I know a bit about batteries. I’ve had an Optima Yellow Top fitted for mths now. Bloody awesome battery! Rated @ 650CCA. Deep cycle, the works! The starter motor doesn’t know what’s hit it when you crank the engine! It’s certainly not cheap ($400+) It’s big (only just fitted in the battery tray – with a bit of massaging) but it lives up to the claims of it manufacturer (unlike the Odyssey). My 2c
  13. SR910, I spoke with Anna from AIR & she basically said that the ball game changes dramatically when you have"spectators" as such. In other words - insurance becomes a big issue & it is treated as a full street meet. BIG $$$ ! So the way around that is we have ~2 pit crew for those that "need" it Some may have 2 mates, others might have the wife & child Slicks? Wouldn't have a clue about slicks sorry mate. I'd have a chat to Munro or GTRking about the best choice of slicks.
  14. I spoke on the phone to Anna Micheel earlier today. She was very understanding & helpful about the whole situation Needless to say I'm in for free next meet. I also chatted with her about future events & running fortnightly s/meets come next summer! We quickly touched on our private meet as well, specifically the spectators issue. I'll update further within the drag day thread.
  15. Oi! Who said you could use my sig' stat's format Andy? I DIDN'T BUGGER IT UP! well ok just a little bit of it was my fault
  16. Limited spectators would be best. Each person is allowed 1 pit crew member. I don't think a "FEW" extra friends/family attending is going to be a major issue? It will depend on AIR firstly & majority rule after that I guess? SR910, All good questions mate. I'll need to clarify these but here's my best guesses so far; Pit crew - normally 1 but as I've posted above, a "FEW" friends/family "shouldn't" be a major issue. AIR policy & majority will decide this. Support vehicle - no problems Racing another car - If you've paid then I don't see a problem with racing another persons car. Bringing 2 cars to race having only paid once - hmmm? Dunno' about that one? TIMMMAYYY, Of course you can mate Hell I ran a 16.3 last meet. I'll put you down in the list.
  17. Ok more info just to hand - The GSR club will have a few members attending. Ivan & RPM are a major sponsor of these guys. PRICING: AIR have quoted ~$4000 for a single lane, full staff, track prep, time slips etc... They have never done a 2 lane private day!? Ivan is keen to have both lanes if at all possible? AIR will get back to him in a day or so on this. If we get both lanes then a maximum of ~70 cars will be set (35 per lane is plenty for lots of runs each ) If we can only have a single lane ~35-40 cars will be it. Ivan is keen to keep entry to $100 absolute max, preferably less than this. We are also keen to get a 12pm to 8pm time slot (ie day/night meet) once again this'll depend on AIR & pricing. Cheers, Matt
  18. hippy - yep mate ask for H1 bulbs (or bulbs to suit an R33 Skyline) The autobarn guys "should" know that R33 Skylines use H1's anyway.
  19. I'll get back to you re the bike.. hmmm?
  20. As you can all see from the thread title change - Ivan has booked us in for Sat' 31st May. It was the first weekend in May AIR had available! Pricing will follow soon. Naturally the more cars the cheaper it'll be. If the 31st is wet then we'll re-schedule to the following weekend & so on... Hopefully all will still be able to attend if the date has to change due weather.
  21. G'day & welcome 32godzilla, Does a certain Yamaha bike have anything to do with your car ? If so then I was just behind & to the left of you in the line up lanes Sat night - nice 32R mate Nice time too! Hey can I borrow your traction advantage Likewise SR910, Yep mate it's on a weekend. So your in
  22. They're H1 bulbs. All auto parts places will stock them. Narva make a blue/white light replacement set called "Arctic Blue" $30-$40 a set. Drop into Autobarn & you'll find a few different types.
