Cyclone swell :uh-huh: Wish I was up there too! Go big son!

Hmmm? You'd hear a high pitched squeal as the turbo reaches full boost if there was a boost leak. Even a minor leak will cause this. Have a good listen to the engine as the turbocharger spools up. If you're not sure what to listen for drop around to my place & I'll check it for you (fixed the odd boost leak in the past). By the way, my car ran 7psi max when stock.

Sounds like forced induction is coming!

AIR Street Meet 5th April - who's running?
whatsisname replied to whatsisname's topic in South Australia
skippy, If you can't borrow a helmet off a mate/relative let me know. I can borrow a helmet or 2 if need be. -
I know a cruise route that'll suit the beast down to the ground mate. Go up Pt Wakefield Rd left into AIR. Then down the strip & back along the return road x 10 No hassle from the cops either! Is it just a case of swapping the diff ratio for something more cruise friendly, or is it too much stuffing around? Cruise on the 28th sounds good
-
Yeah mate Autech did the 4dr GT-R.
-
Sounds like the previous owner pushed her a tad too hard She sure is all good now though mate Yeah every time I see your sig' it's like ahhhh (*sigh*) I'm so close
-
macka, What did you (the engine builder?) put your broken ring lands down to? Detonation I'm guessing? If so what was the cause? Sorry to hijack - but I thought it might add to the thread info. Nice 1/4 fig's to mate! They look very familiar
-
Cool! I guess we'll wait & see how many are keen for the night out option. If it has a majority vote then when Andrew gets back we can start the ball rolling. Gotta' wait to get Andrew's gives the OK. He did come up with the idea Hey John have you got a few spare bucks hanging around? Maybe buy a few Autech Stagea's as group transport for SAU piss-up nights Of course they'll need to have done @ least a 10sec pass as well

Excess pressure in sump, & therefore forcing the dipstick out, isn't a good thing! Here's hoping it's a worn dipstick seal!

Erica, They don't actually check your rego info as such. So a well placed sticker over the top & I doubt it'd be a problem -

Thanks mate I've done a bit more tinkering since you last saw it. 45k isn't bad for all the gear it's got! If ALL the gear is part of the 45k deal? Regency & any of our cars don't mix well -
Rob, 147rwkw pre S-AFC2 on the Tilbrook dyno with the FMIC, 3" Ext, filter, CAI & stock boost (7psi) sounds about right. A dead stocky makes ~120-130rwkw on Mark's dyno. 160rwkw post S-AFC2 & stock boost also sounds right. Get some boost into that thing & make the most of your FMIC & other mod's mate! You should be able to pick up a basic bleed valve set-up for bugger all (festo valve is cheap as) or a 2nd hd Turbosmart/TurboXS for much less than $100. Piss easy to install. Set-up takes a few minutes! You can then use your factory gauge(once you've got it running) & your S-AFC knock indications to adjust it to a safe level until you get a decent aftermarket gauge fitted. You'll be fine running 10psi (12psi for drag runs) even with the S2 turbo. Trust me 7psi to 10-12psi with your mod's is a big jump in power. Just waiting for the taking as is!

"A-LSD"?? are they common on R33 Series 2s?
whatsisname replied to a topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
OK this is from the original 96-97 Nissan pricing info: Coupe: *NOTE* - Type M means turbo (it isn't an up spec version of the GTS25t!) GTS25t Type M 5sp - 2,916,000y GTS25t Type M Auto - 3,013,000y GTS25t A-LSD (5sp only) - 3,196,000y Interestingly enough the GTS25 Type S Auto (RB25DE) was more expensive than the Type M 5sp (RB25DET) @ 2,928,000y ! 97 GT-R N1 - 6,096,000y 4 Doors: GTS25t Type M 5sp - 3,225,000y GTS25t Type M Auto - 3,322,000y GTS25 Type S Auto - 2,850,000y The GTS25t A-LSD Type M (that's how it's listed!) is heavy than the GTS25t 5sp or auto (1370kg - 5sp 1390kg - auto 1400kg -A-LSD 5sp) It also came standard with 205/55/16 F 225/50/16 R. S1's (93-94) & S1.5's (95 models) with the A-LSD I have no info? My 9/94 model doesn't have the A-LSD but it does have ABS -

Rob, I can organise a helmet for you if need be? Let me know. I'm buying an open face helmet from Revolution Racegear this Thursday. $80 brand new. ADR approved. Nothing flash, but it's comfy & looks ok. To run at a street meet you'll need the following: ADR approved helmet Full length pants/trackies etc... long sleeved top $50 cash A roadworthy car - no noticeable leaks etc... EDIT: Some additions - Your terminal speed or trap speed (TS) is an average speed taken over the last 30ft b4 the 400m line & 30ft after the 400m line. I'm guessing a stock GTS25t would trap in the mid/high 90mph region? A car with a 100-105mph (161-169km/h) trap speed probably wouldn't hit the limiter until past the TS area so it wouldn't matter. If you trap @ 110+mph then the limiter will hold you back (no limiter for me ) Elapsed Time (ET) - taken from the time your car breaks the staging beams till it breaks the 400m beam, irrespective of reaction time (for street meets). For more info have a read here - http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Garage/.../offstreet.html & here - http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Garage/...034/timing.html Ignore the AIR website street meet calender, it's waaay out of date! -
AIR Street Meet 5th April - who's running?

C'mon Rob! You put your car through harsher punishment on most cruises. I'm serious too! As Clint mentioned above, apart from the potential for a bit of clutch punishment (which depends on how you drive it?) the car will be fine. Trust me mate you'll have a absolute ball You'll be hooked for sure! For $50 you can cram in at the very least 5 x 200km/h blasts without any hassles from the law, + you'll have hard fast evidence of just how well those new found 160rwkw move the black beast When you DO hit the drag strip I'd recommend upping your boost level, now you've got the S-AFC2 & FMIC 10-12psi will be fine for a few quick runs. The JAFFA mobile should head out too! It'd be good to get a few of us SAU guys running. That way we can line each other up. -
Me John (GT-R x 2) MattR Rob (Drifty) - leave pass pending Clint (maybe) Bug's - if I gee him up enough Andy (maybe) skippy (maybe) Anyone else?

"A-LSD"?? are they common on R33 Series 2s?
whatsisname replied to a topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
A-LSD: As already explained, stands for Active Limited Slip Differential. It's the same system as used on the GT-R. In a nut shell it uses a computer controlled rear limited slip diff that transfers a percentage of power from left rear to right rear or visa versa as required, thus maintaining best possible traction. A-LSD wasn't so much an extra 15k cost option but rather a different spec of car on top of the GTS25t (this is for S2, S1 not sure?). When I get a chance I'll look up my R33 S2 price guide. I've got the new car prices (in Yen) from bottom of the range through to N1. The A-LSD GTS25t is listed above the GTS25t & IS dearer. I'm pretty sure it's not 15k dearer though!? As akeenan posted above, the passenger door lock function is a standard safety feature. When the car exceeds 25km/h it locks. -
My car & the JAFFA would be fairly close. Off the line my RE540's are great "on the street" Maybe get him to try some on the rear?

A few more questions about my GTR
whatsisname replied to Ethan_R32's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Head on down this way mate. Stay with us again That way you can book into Tilbrooks & get Martin to retune your stock ECU ($400-500 max I think?). You sure will notice an improvement in A/FR's. You'll gain power, improve the A/FR & he'll also be able to remove the 180km/h limiter. All via the stock R32 ECU! Martin/Tilbrook's do quite a few stock ECU retunes. They'll be able to fix the oil press' indication prob too. Give me a ring in the arvo (6-7ish) if you like. -
Seeing as the idea of a big get together is to put faces to names/alias' & get to know everyone, why don’t we organise a pub/restaurant/piss up kind of 'do' rather than a car cruise type of thing, yes? kind of like the LS1.com.au guys do. They have pizza nights. We can book somewhere well in advance, everyone can have a few drinks, (organise group taxi’s - to & from - if need be) & plenty of time in one spot for everybody to mingle so on... If people want to party on (casino?) afterwards then they can. Those of us with youngsters (there's at least a few of us) can get them looked after for the night & bring along the missus too! Ok so this idea doesn't involve our cars much but we can organise cruises till the cows come home later down the track! If you guys/girls like this idea then I'm suggesting we book in at The Bombay Bicycle Club on Torrens Rd, this place ROCKS! Then it's on the casino to win (more likely lose) some $$$ Just a suggestion : )

Once upon a time it was the pride & joy, now it's just the Poosar John, I was reading through this thread thinking you'd taken the 9sec R33 for a hills cruise!!! Then I remembered your new addition to the GT-R family, Doug's 33. GFXman, Sounds like JAFFA has gone from being the hunted to the hunter
