Wet road & my car don't mix well

Cool! So the Anti Speed Camera Party would get a few votes then. Thanks guys Gotta' love it, not more than a day after my ranting about fine revenue & the media cotton onto the $800per HOUR that SA speed cameras are making to fill state coffers! 800 F@#KING DOLLARS, PER HOUR, 365days a yr! Now in reponse to this the transport minister (or some other weasel) has stated "It's all up to the driver, don't use the right foot so heavily & you won't have a problem. "The choice is in the drivers hands (or foot)" Yep ok, fair call I say. However, while it's up to us as drivers to decide what speed we travel, when do we get a say on what speed limits are set & where!? I can see this state ending up the same as NSW, speed limits reduced well below what's really needed. Areas that were once 100km/h dropped to 80km/h. 80 zones down to 60 & so on & so on.... Just so you guys don't think I'm some kind of speed crazed fool, I completely agree with low speed limits for built up areas, schools etc... nothing faster than 150km/h in these areas Erica, That's the funniest thing I've read for a while

New GTR on the way, a few questions.
whatsisname replied to Ethan_R32's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Very nice mate. So how'd she go on the dyno? -
Thanks mate. It's taken 2.5+yrs & replacement of a few poor choices to get the car to its current stage. Plus a bit of luck here & there with parts working better than expected! Nothin' to be jealous of mate. Your car is obviously a work in progress, & by the looks of things it's going to be damn impressive in all areas when finished.

Steve, Wouldn't be Japanese without a little bit of rice RB25DET head - 600hp @ 1bar - very impressive! My turbo starts making boost about 2500rpm, reaches full boost @ ~3800 & holds it to till redline (7350rpm in my car). It comes on boost fairly hard. Street driveability isn’t bad at all. It’s certainly very docile in 60km/h urban cruising, but due to the 2.5L capacity & 9.0:1 comp ratio off-boost torque makes it a breeze to keep up with a quick traffic flow. Plant the right foot & you don’t have to wait for the boost to arrive.

R34 GT-R wheels on an R33..
whatsisname replied to Timmy G's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
The blue 180SX drifter belongs to Denzo (JMS) not Martin. It did have polished R34 GT-R rims though. -
Steve, Internals are untouched. The turbo is a plain bearing T3/T4 combo using new (at the time) Garrett components. Exact spec’s I don't know unfortunately T04E or T04B compressor - 0.64A/R for both housings??? I'm only guessing with this info though. The turbo combo was selected & fitted by Vince Rigoli, & built by Precision Turbocharger’s in Sydney. The 257rwkw was on the Tilbrook dyno. Martin did a little bit of tuning of the LT12 Microtech. I wasn’t convinced that it could make that kind of power on just 13psi, but after numerous dyno runs monitoring the pressure ( via Autometer gauge, datalogger on the laptop & position of factory gauge & so on…) I can confirm it was indeed 13psi. Here’s a “full” listing of all current mod’s (warning – there’s plenty of ricey ones in there ) MODS Trust exhaust system & dump pipe K&N pod / CAI / Custom airbox(h/shield) T3/T4 Garrett turbo (not a stock rebuild) Adjustable cam gear (4' retard - exhaust only) Custom FMIC Custom inlet piping (nil AFM) Samco silicon hoses 16" DC thermo fan HKS EVC Microtech LT12 ECU Bosch '044 fuel pump Malpassi RR adjustable reg ( increased base pressure) NGK BKR7EVX plugs Oil catch can, braided lines & anodised fittings Braided & blue silicon lines throughout eng' bay GFB "Basic" BOV (flows more CFM, & is quieter than, most “look @ me” loud valves”) Trust oil cap / rad' cap Anodised & stainless fasteners throughout eng' bay F17x8 R17X9 Volk wheels Bridgestone RE540S semi-comp tyres 235/45/17 255/40/17 Optional s/skirt kit, GTR front bar/grill Unknown origin rear wing EBC Greenstuff brake pads + Motul RBF600 fluid King Springs (30mm lower) Whiteline front strutbrace Whiteline s/bars Whiteline camber kit Whiteline rear sub-frame align/lock kit Autometer boost gauge in 'A' pillar pod Trust g/knob & Momo pedal set Momo Race wheel & HICAS boss kit Leather re-trim (handbrake, g/boot etc...) Yep, that's exactly what's needed. As I posted above, on-going driver ed programs, compulsory advanced driver training, much tougher licensing systems (as per the bike system), ad campaigns covering a wide range of road issues, improvement of roads, the list can go on……. The reality is though, these things all COST the government money rather than making more $$$. Faaar easier to reduce the speed limits, fine the hell out of everyone & then manipulate the statistics to show the measures they’ve taken are working. I posted some figures a while back that showed the number of speed cameras in SA, revenue raised & the fatality rate over a 10 or so yr period. No surprise to see stuff all reduction in fatality rates, 500% increase in revenue & tenfold the number of cameras in action. (These fig’s might be a tad out but ya’ get the idea). I might run for local parliament – Independent candidate “ Anti Speed Camera Party” My one & only policy - The total removal of speed cameras within the yr

With very good traction (1.8-1.9 60') & a "genuine" 400hp engine I believe high 11's are possible. Certainly low 12's.

I see what Jay is getting @ here, & have always wondered about this possible '95 ECU difference? After all the Apexi PFC part # changes after late '94. I realise this is due to a number of changes (ignition amp being one of them) but just maybe........? Actual dyno figures aside, it certainly is interesting how a number of '95 model GTS25t's have very good A/FR's with OEM ECU's!? And seem to make good power (rwkw) with the OEM ECU. Not all 95's do but I've now seen 5 or more that are "freaks". Bugalug's car - ~204rwkw, stock ECU, perfect A/FR's throughout the rev range (12:1 peak power) Benm - Well whadda ya' know! The same mod's as Bug's car - 203rwkw, stock ECU & impressive A/FR's given the norm' for a GTS25t (10.0 - 10.8-1) rev210 - Very impressive 1/4 results! No doubt helped by a good use of basic mods & driver skill (low 60's for a 205) but none the less a high TS of 104mph. Wish you'd have put it on a known local DD dyno to see what the A/FR's were like rev! (prior to the S-AFC2). There's more to add to this list but I can't recall names @ the moment? Some of the SDU '95 owners are among the list of outstanding OEM ECU results too. It could be total coincidence that these "freaks" are '95 models? But I've yet to see a 93-94 GTS25t with a stock ECU running the show produce much better than high 10's - low 11's A/FR @ peak power.

Yeah mate, even though nothing will come of it, it does make ya' feel good to get it off your chest hey

I don't agree with the 50km/h policy, & I have no doubt it's more about revenue than road safety, but I'm still surprised it took as long as it did for SA to adopt the 50k limit. I think we all know that reduced speed limits are a win-win situation for the government. They "appear" to be serious about road safety by reducing speed limits & running big ad campaigns & the like. Then they sit back & reap the $$$ from fines revenue. It's a small outlay for a HUGE return & all the while they look like road safety is their primary concern If road safety "really" were the issue here speed cameras would be on blackspots not dead straight open stretches of road. Driver education, advanced driver training/courses & tougher licensing would be of major importance. And finally, ad campaigns would be aimed @ increasing awareness of basic road rules that are important to improved traffic flow (like "KEEP F#@KING LEFT UNLESS OVERTAKING!!!!). Rant over.
-
I'm surprised it took as long as it did to bring SA into line with the rest of the country. Most of (if not all?) the other states have had 50km/h suburban limits for quite a while now.

New GTR on the way, a few questions.
whatsisname replied to Ethan_R32's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
She looks really clean & tidy on the outside mate Very nice! I bet these next few days are going to feel like a month -
Hey Rev, out of interest what yr model is your GTS25t?

I've worn holes in my carpet

The genuine factory Skyline mats (4 different styles!) are very very good quality. Up to 30,000y new too! -
It's a 96RON fuel. Nothing different from the old Caltex premium, just a flashy name to keep up with the times, Optimax, Ultimate etc...
-
Pinging @ idle!?
-
You could just siphon the tank? Then put the remaining fuel in the family run about. If you've got one? Then fill the Skyline up with BP98 & give it a good test in the hills If you do siphon, try to avoid getting any in the mouth :spew: Like I did emptying & cleaning my overflow bottle the other day, whilst changing the coolant
-
NEO is awesome stuff, if you've got plenty of $$$ ~$175 for 5L  Any of the good quality synthetics are fine, ie Castrol R, Mobil 1, Shell Helix Ultra & so on. Most importantly change oil & filter every 5k. If you do track days etc probably worth doing changes more often. I use Motul 300V CHRONO 10W/40 . I just did an oil change, 5L cost me $85. http://www.motul.com/uk/produits/competiti...auto/index.html Redline is another very good, costly, choice. http://www.redlineoil.com/frames/engoil.htm Prices - http://www.gearbox-racing.com/redline2.html
-
BP Ultimate 98 - no problems so far. Shell Optimax (98RON) whilst in NSW - no prob's. Mobil premium (96RON) I didn't have a choice - detonation. My car has always been tuned on/for 98RON. I've never used any of the others in the Skyline.

The LS1.com.au guys are cruising on Friday night, might be worth hooking up with them too. Any post-rebuild dyno numbers yet?
