Steve, Welcome to Adelaide mate. Might need to fix your "Location" details You mentioned a 12rwkw gain after Martin (I'm guessing it was Martin?) re-did your PFC tune, just wondering what the final power figure was & if you got gains throughout the rev range? Cheers, Matt

Thanks dude. I've got Volk Rays on my R33 (not sure what model they are though?) [ryan], A v/good 2nd hand set of TE37's can be had for the same or less $$$ than big chromies! Munro picked up a set of 2nd hand TE37's a while back, not sure how much? walkoau, True, very true, ultimately the choice is up to George. If looks is all you're after in wheels then get whatever floats your boat. If less unsprung weight (& therefore better performance all round) is also desirable then you can't go past most of the Japanese aftermarket rims. The first time I took one of my 17" Ray's off I just about threw it up in the air as I braced to lift what I though was a weighty wheel! It's so damn light I couldn't believe it!

New Honda S2000R very quick!
whatsisname replied to whatsisname's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Hmmm..... I just noticed that too!? Pretty impressive hoax if it is a load of crap? Edit - Just did a quick check on a few Honda sites & no mention of the S2000R, it's BS. -
I'm not sure if this is old news? But if the new S2000R comes to OZ as is look out! Powered by a 3.0L inline NA 6 - 360hp (~270kw) weighing in @ ~2400lbs (under 1100kg!) ='s 12.8 @ 111.7mph stock  Check it out - http://www.automotivearticles.com/get.php?...le&articleid=52 Edit: - For those that can't be stuffed reading go to the bottom of the article for the performance stat's. Edit - THE ARTICLE IS A FAKE! To the best of my knowledge the S2000R 3.0L 6 doesn't exsist.

I'm with every one else, those big chunky chrome wheels look like absolute crap! :spew: Go for something lightweight - Rays TE37's

My car has all the usual bolt-on mods including a bigger turbo, but not enough for 300rwkw! I'll get there eventually though. See my sig'. There's a few GTS25t's owners here with 300+rwkw.

G'day Henry, So AIR isn't back online @ all? What a huge bummer I can't believe we (SA locals) have a drag strip sitting there doing nothing! Looks like a private session may be the go? Hell yeah mate only too keen to hook up for a few waves! I've been riding a lid for 14yrs. My old man use to shape (surfboards) for a living back in the 70-80's, he wasn't too keen when I took up bodyboarding instead, but he got over it I went down to Victor last Sunday (19th) 3'+ Parsons, nice little wedging RH peak down the far end off the rocks with 5 of us on it, got a couple of little barrels. Everyone else was just down from the carpark (30+!) We're heading to Yorke's this weekend for some reef waves :uh-huh:

R33 smoked by s13 & s14?!
whatsisname replied to cowboyb's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I think TRY09 is an RB30/26DETT combo? It's certainly not an RB25DET - if that's the Subzero car you were thinking of? -
A brand spankers 2003 Viper SRT/10 is ~$83k USD, or about $140,000AUD, but that's in the US. Prices in OZ are OTT for most brands.
-
No mate 152mph is quicker than TRY09's! A 152mph TS shows the car is good for 8's with slicks & a good 60ft. Now take another look @ how "streetable" this car is! Sure the power is not exactly "streetable" but the car isn't stripped & radically altered from factory. At 3500lbs it's no stripped out "race car with a set of plates". Did anybody else notice Benjamin Treynor's (the owner) quote, "the rear wheels started spinning on the dyno drum during this pull at 4900 RPM, which is why the torque dips at that point. I don't know how much power it actually makes, only that it's over 1000 RWHP". Benjamin Treynor can be found on various US based car forums (treynor), quite a decent guy. I love my Skylines but I'm not so one eyed that I can't appreciate a serious bit of gear like this Viper.

R33 smoked by s13 & s14?!

With enough money & engineering *most* engines can make 1000hp (some would have few OEM parts remaining!) Why haven't you seen any 1000hp RB25DET's? Because the RB26DETT is a better starting point if you want to build a 1000hp Nissan straight 6. Don't think for a second that it's easy to built a seriously powerfully & reliable SR20DET / RB26DETT (700+hp) Big $$$ & serious engine work. It's no different if someone were to choose the RB25DET as a base for a 1000hp. Give me the money & I'll be the first to build a 1000hp RB25DET. The Silvia platform is one of Nissan’s best, sorry to see it go. It's reasonably cheap, light weight, powerful & very "chuckable". Silvia vs. GTS25t..... It all comes down to personal preference. I may be biased but I've yet to hear a decent exhaust note from an SR20DET they sound...um...sort of... 'farty'. -
Clint, I've never needed an extinguisher or secondary bonnet restraints fitted when I've run my car @ the drags, that's @ both AIR & Eastern Creek in NSW. That said if ANDRA is now on board with the new & improved AIR then they might be required? I might ring AIR & ask. The Bell helmet is a goer but the race suit & boots might be a bit much, unless you run a 10 or better!? Sim, Oops! Haven't checked the PM's for a while. Sorry mate will do. Joel, As long as it's not a seriously noticeable leak & isn't dripping you'll be fine. If it isn't dropping oil on the ground overnight I wouldn’t be worried.
-
Dooky, It involves costs, AIR is ~$55 from memory? Unless you're an ANDRA licence holder then it's cheaper (I think?) Other than that just turn up on the day/night, fill out the paperwork & as long as the car passes basic safety requirements (nothing leaking or loose etc...) your in! Don't forget your ADR approved helmet & long sleeve shirt + full length pants (or trackies if that's your thing ) Matt
-
As long as it's quicker than last time I won't be too disappointed 12's are easily achievable, it all comes down to a decent 60ft. I had the grunt for a 12 last time! Low 12's would be nice. The 31st is looking good Miss_Nismo, I saw your blue NEO RB25DET R32 the other day. Looks good, nice conversion & very tidy in the eng' bay! Huge potential once you've done the usual upgrades :uh-huh:

Best time out of a STOCK R33 25T
whatsisname replied to kabab's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Well I'll be damned, he sold it! It was just starting to get interesting too. Remember though REV's car still has a few *important* minor mod's. Exhaust Turbosmart bleed valve - minor but a mod none the less Upgrade clutch & light flywheel combo S-AFC II - dunno if this contributed to xtra power for his 13.4 run or not? REV? -
Having spent a day driving a 99 RT/10 Viper I can assure you all they are bloody wicked!!! Can you say TORQUE! Mind you with 8.0L’s you'd expect that. The Viper I drove accelerated as hard in 4th @ 60km/h as it did in 2nd. Somebody mentioned understeer!? Try oversteer, mostly power oversteer. The stock 315's aren't hard to break loose with 8.0L's of torque. The built quality isn't the greatest, certainly not to Japanese standards, but it's not too bad. Some Viper owners in the US have managed high 11's for the 1/4 stock! Not many complete standard factory cars can do that. As for this beast, take a look @ the terminal speed on its "shake down" pass - 152mph!!! 10.11 1/4 with 152mph TS….. I'm guessing the 60ft time on that pass was very poor! Probably run on road tyres?

Best time out of a STOCK R33 25T
whatsisname replied to kabab's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Ahh Rob (or Roo) I should've guessed! His RX7 is getting some serious HP these days! (big turbo & all) Xtra grunt so he can get himself in trouble with the law "again" REV's 13.4 is an awesome time! I know REV had his new S-AFC II fitted, be interesting to know if he'd tweaked the mixtures @ all? Goes to show just how tough it would be to crack a low 13 with nothing more than slicks, high octane juice & a bit of timing advance. The biggest restriction would be the factory exhaust system. I still think low 13's in a standard GTS25t (with blah blah...) is very unlikely, but maaaaaaaybe possible? -
Drifty, I still see Bug's on a regular basis. He/his family have been through a few testing times recently hence he hasn't had a lot of spare time. He still has his Skyline though. Bug's mentioned to me Andy was selling his GT-R a while back. Dunno' if he's sold it yet or not? Dunno' about Nitrate? I'll probably only cruise on the night with highest poll %, I'll See how I go. It's hard juggling my regular bodyboarding trips, late night car cruises & part time fatherly duties! OT - Any of you guys on here surf/bodyboard? If so let me know as I'm heading down to VH & Yorke's whenever I get the chance.

 They must've got their wires crossed dude. It should've been, "Fabio..... the most beautiful man in the world" Who do you know in the RAAF that knows me? -
Yeah if it's an all out best time possible then full slicks are the go for sure.

H/C = Heads & Cam package  She hears all about the dreams I have (not that she's all that interested) Naa she doesn't cop any stray feet or hands, the roll cage & harnesses keep the limbs on my side of the bed
