  1. G'day Henry, Apologies again mate! Sorry to all for my lack of attendance! I blame a very late night (newborn babies like late nights!) & a dose of flu. Hope you guys had some fun despite the weather. It seems that any cruise thread titled "Skyline/LS1" is doomed to end in rain
  2. I'm considering going to road legal semi-comp tyres for all round use when my current rubber is shot, this is for a couple of reasons; 1. - Although my GTS25t remains daily drivable it's really only used for fun (it's travelled 12k in the 2.5yrs I've owned it) & as such I couldn't care less about tyre noise, tread life & ride quality. 2. - I'd like maximum possible all round grip. 3. - Because I can If I get 5-10k out of a set of tyres I'll be happy. Below are a few of the options I'm considering. I'd like to get feedback from anyone who's using/used any of them? Or any other choices I've not listed? I'm aware of the Bridgestone RE540S & Toyo Proxes RA-1 but neither come in the right sizes I intend on running 235-245 17's - front 255-265 17's - rear Dunlop Formula R's D01J - RSV98 - Khumo Kumho VictoRacer V700 - Yokohama A032R - Falken Azenis (not the ST-115) - Toyo Proxes RA-1 Bridgestone RE540S (tyre on the left is the RE520 now replaced by the 540)
  3. Bug's is going away over the long weekend.
  4. That's one thing I love about the R32 GT-R & GTS-4, pull the fuse & instant RWD A mate of mine in NSW ran his GTS-4 @ a dyno day I organised in Sydney 2yrs back, he got the same kw @ all 4 as he did in RWD! 126rwkw / 126awkw. His car only has a few basic mods.
  5. Sounds fine by me Henry, although I'm starting to think interest could be a tad low? Long weekend + short notice = people already have plans? The forum has been very quiet lately.
  6. With the dyno day coming up soon we'd like to get the $35 fee out of the way in advance (makes it easier on the day), in order to do this what better way than another joint LS1 / Skyline cruise (in daylight hours) on Monday the 7th The 7th is a public holiday so hopefully all can attend!? How about it people? Update: Meet - Westfield Marion near Bunnings Performance Parts Time - around 1pm
  7. As Lee said, I think you'll find it's comp' only.
  8. Henry, I'm still dead keen! We need to contact AIR & find out what they require from us to book us in? Then we can select a date that suits the majority.
  9. That's the spirit mate
  10. Joel, I run EBC Greenstuff on the front (P/N - DP21200). I run EBC Street Kevlar on the rear (can't remember the P/N). EBC don't make a Green' for the rear. These are excellent pads for street use. Even hard street use is unlikely to see brake temp's much over 450'c-500'c, EBC Greens are rated to 650'c. Fronts - ~$200-$220 Rears - ~$70-90 Bendix Ultimates are rated to 550'c, so they're just as good for performance street use. The R32 GT-R uses the same calipers (F&R) as the R33 GTS25t.
  11. Freebaggin's car has been on both the RPM & Tilbrook dyno, hardly a rwkw difference between them! Go on Joel give it a run, hell it's only a number As long as the car goes well on the road who cares. It's a great chance to see how much your car is putting to the ground compared to others.
  12. It's one thing to go on about the stupidity of running without a catalytic converter, but how often does the average Joe check or replace a tired cat'? Under ADR 37-00 your cat' is required to last 80,000km or 5yrs, whichever occurs first! How many cars on the roads in OZ would've had a cat' (or cat's) changed in their lifetime? Unless it’s totally stuffed & the honeycomb has collapsed into small bits you’d probably never know it wasn’t doing its job, unless the smell becomes MORE noticeable. It’s my guess that apart from the performance automotive market & the EPA nobody else really thinks a hoot about the condition of their cat'! An ineffective or blocked/damaged cat' is about as good as no cat' at all, worse in fact, 'cause it's not doing much for the environment OR the engine!. My 2.2c Note: NZ’ers aren’t legally required to run a cat’, so watch out on the East Coast when the wind’s really strong from that direction
  13. It sure does look nice :uh-huh: It's interesting to see just how far stock RB25 internals can go?! It'd be nice to nail down the maximum safe hp level so we know how far we can push Not that it's relevant to you Matt Yeah I'm not too bad mate The arrival of :gaga: has kept me busy though. I now look a little like this ---> :coffee:
  14. AMEN brother! :Pres-hit: Just take the plunge Joel, then you'll be able to start cruisin' with us again & kickin' some booty :shake:
  15. You'll probably find there will be others on the forum with the same gizmos fitted to their Skylines. All you need to do is find someone with the same bit of gear & ask away Assuming they know how it works!
  16. Better quality tyres "should" make a big difference (in my case) plus the Whiteline rear subframe align/lock kit that's going in on Thursday :uh-huh: Set to "Maximum Traction". I like being able to over power rear grip at will (in the dry) but sometimes it's a plain ol' pain in the arse. I'd like to have the best of both worlds, kinda' like the GT-R I'm not really making that much power, 300+rwkw is when it gets crazy for a regular street car.
  17. Yeah I've got that number - 82808154 Not sure if it's manned during normal business hrs or not though? Here's the offical AIR site AFAIK - http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Garage/8034/
  18. Looks real nice, & sounds like it's real quick! :uh-huh:
  19. Your calculations are correct dude Read here - http://forums.skylinesaustralia.com/showth...=&threadid=3585
  20. G'day dude, Yeah I do remember how expensive things are up there! You're spot-on mate, I never had to feed a fast car habit during my times up north It helps when the guzzler is just for play
  21. Given that 80% of Aussie fuel comes from our own resources the fuel price hikes are BS! Well that's if the recent media report that mentioned this stat' is correct? I wonder how many of us would be like me? I'd be more than happy to pay $3+ per litre if they gave us 105-110RON @ the pump i.e BP Ultimate / Optimax went from 98 to 110 Sure it'd be expensive as hell but it'd be nice to have the choice. Ok I'll stop dreaming now
  22. Not sure if this is still a go'er Henry? With AIR set to start street meets again? Anyone know of a site that's "up to date" on AIR happenings?
  23. Lee, You've sure got me interested now mate :uh-huh: Can you give us any idea on the engine mod's?! Like the turbo it's running You're gunna' have to come along to the dyno day on the 12Oct' then
  24. C'mon Matt it's not too bad for an internally stock 2.5L Mind you it runs a 1.2mm HKS h/g, cams, head work, & every other possible bolt on! I watched this thing do a few 290+rwkw runs that were pretty impressive (@ 1.5 bar I think?). Important point!!! IF it doesn't still run stock internals, as quoted on the JMS site(& @ the Adelaide Autosalon) then I'm not that impressed. Its reliability & longevity with ~300rwkw on stock internals is the most interesting factor :uh-huh: Here's the car in question - http://www.japanesemotorsport.com.au/newr33.html
