  1. Welcome SPOOLIN (Lee) Nice choice of car, & colour too! I'd be a little cautious about running 18psi boost unless the engine/turbo/intercooler etc have been set-up to allow this! If your car has already been modified to cope with 18psi then ignore the above warning & smile 'cause you've scored a good one mate :uh-huh: Nightcrawler, Saw you & your beast on Fri'/Sat' night (can't remember which?) @ the lights on Grand Junction & Sudholz, we were in the family mobile (green 5dr RAV4) turning right from S into GJ. Can't miss those plates of yours mate
  2. Probably not the "optimal" boost range for an internally stock RB25DET though
  3. BRUTE (Henry) is the man to answer that one. I don't see it being a problem but the day has been organised by the LS1 guys so we'll have to make sure it's ok with them first?
  4. My best 60ft so far is 2.153 Run on - 255/40/17 Falken's 3k launch (just a nice easy launch) 38psi in the rears Stock rear suspension 215.5rwkw Weight - 1540kg 13.1 @ 109.5mph When I had 150rwkw I managed a 2.186 60ft on my 2nd ever attempt @ the 1/4, that was running on Falken Ziex too! IMHO I really don't see that dropping the rear pressures on a 17-18" low profile is going to make a huge difference anyway? After all there's stuff all sidewall to play with, + "most" low profile tyres aren't designed to hook-up on the drag strip. The 2 "main" areas to work on for a quick street tyre drag time are suspension & tyre quality (in terms of grip). Low (in most case excessively) extremely hard Japanese rear suspension is the about the worst combo for quick 60's / ET's (I'm sure we all already knew this). Add to this a set of average quality rear tyres (poor grip) & it's going to take 20-30-50rwkw more than is needed to crack into the 12's, not that there's anything wrong with this, hell I'll probably use power rather than grip to do it A drag launch needs maximum rear weight transfer, hard rear suspension does an excellent job of preventing this. I watched a J spec S15 with 200rwkw run a 1.9 60ft (12.8 @ 110mph) It was on 17" low profile Yokohama Advan street tyres (good quality rubber) & stock suspension. One last quick one, get a decent alignment done to check your rear camber is not excessive! A Skyline/300ZX/S13-14-15 will really suffer from excessive rear camber in straight line!!! Even a 1" drop in rear ride height is enough to cause problems.
  5. 217rwkw :uh-huh: Excellent power! Bummer about your 1/4 times, but if your mph has increased since last time then that's a good sign. What was your best 60" time & mph?
  6. LS1 / Skyline dyno day Date - Saturday 12Oct' Cost - $35ea 3 runs + print out Where - Tilbrook Auto & Dyno, 12 Elm St Hampstead Gardens Start Time - 10am For more details check the new "Events" section - http://forums.skylinesaustralia.com/showth...=&threadid=3268
  7. G'day Henry, Yeah it has been a tad quiet in here lately But I'm pretty sure everyone's still keen to come, I am! I haven't forgotten about the heat resistant insulating material either mate! Once I go back to work in Oct' (currently undergoing dad school ) I'll see what I can dig up.
  8. You guys should be able to organise a decent group deal, 'cause I just bought the Whiteline KCA349 kit today for $99. It comes with simple (there's not much too it!) instructions for "all round", "drift", or "maximum traction". The same KCA349 kit fits S13, S14, R32-R33 & Z32 Nissans. I'll let you know what difference they make soon Unless someone who's already running the kit beats me to it? Matt Lowth?
  9. Choosing a name you both like isn't easy hey! Tania didn't want to know if it was a boy or girl till the actual day! Lucky it was a girl 'cause we were both set on the name Jasmine from the start A boy named Jasmine….hmmm. The child restraints "may" get used in the Skyline, but it's unlikely. The RAV4 does all the domestic duties Free to air TV in the wee small hours is pretty dodgy stuff Yeah RAGE is one exception, good thinking! Oh, & F1, MotoGP, Indy etc... Mind you those don't really qualify for "dark o'clock". Cheers & thanks again
  10. Thanks again guys Shell, Don't do it girl! You'll end up watching all the crap on TV @ 3am in the morning
  11. Read here - www.redlineoil.com I use their Shockproof & 75W90 gear oil, both are excellent! Improvements have been noticeable over VMX80 & Motul. I've not tried their eng' oil but Motul 300V has been faultless so far so I won't be changing. For a rough price guide (AUD) have a look here - www.gearbox-racing.com They're a local Adelaide performance g/box workshop who stock Redline.
  12. G'day mate, Really appreciate the help dude! I'm actually already running BKR7EVX's so I guess I'll stick with 'em I've noticed a few GT-R owners have mentioned they use them too, & we all agree they're an excellent plug! I guess it's a case of, "when it ain't broke don't fix it" Hope Corey's rail runs some good numbers next weekend!
  13. Thanks mate What ya' doin' up @ this hour! My sleep patterns are screwed up, & will be for a looooooooong time to come now the bub is here :uh-huh:
  14. G'day Jimx, Which Redline are you using? Any noticeable improvements since switching to Redline in the box? The reason I ask is, I too use Redline (in the diff) & am about to try "Shockproof" in my box. Matt
  15. Sounds great :uh-huh: Have a good one! First day home with new bub, so I'll see you all @ the next one.
  16. Ivan, Thanks mate I just want to do a basic once over, change fluids (diff/box/eng/filter) I'm too slack to do it myself & with the hoist it's much easier I've already got all the fluids/parts so it'll be a pretty simple. Hopefully I can drop in around the end of the month? I'm also thinking about trying a set of NGK Iriway7's too? Nobody stocks them on the shelf in Adelaide yet (to my knowledge?) & Autobarn want $30+ea! For those that didn't know: Iriway/Iritop/Irimac are the newish range of NGK Iridium plugs designed with performance, high comp' & boost levels in mind. They only come in 7,8 & 9 heat ranges. According to AB & NGK rep's HKS plugs are re-badged versions of these plugs?! For more info read here - http://www.ngkspark.com.au/bulletin_SB01-1.htm dAVE, Give Tim a call @ RPM PC, he can give you a good run down as he put the package together. The engine they've sourced was from a Soarer. I suggested the conversion to the Michael (father in-law) & he said, "Yeah lets do it!" The whole package drive-in / drive out will come to ~9-10k, that includes the g/box, clutch & flywheel set-up sourced by Michael via Melb'. I'm still working on convincing him to add a supercharger :uh-huh: Cheers, Matt
  17. Ivan, You'll be seeing me from time to time then mate I've had a number of modifications done by (or in conjunction with) Tim, Mick, & Steve. Come to think of it, you'll be getting your hands dirty on a 1UZFE (4.0L DOHC V8 Soarer eng') transplant into a Hilux Surf very very soon :uh-huh: My father in-law is booked in to have his turbo diesel Surf given some mumbo! I'll be seeing you soon myself, I've got a few basics I want to get done before the dyno day, gotta’ squeeze those last few rwkw Cheers, Matt.
  18. Thanks guys
  19. Thanks Andy Following closely behind Matt (Bugalugs) Deb & Tayah! Tania started contractions around 7.30am Monday morning, & finally @ 6.10pm that evening little Jasmine Emily was born :) Jasmine weighed in @ 6lbs8, was "also" 49cm long, & very close to 33cm head circumference! Mum & bub are both doing really well Bug's & I both with the first name Matt, both with R33 GTS25t's, & both have girls nearly identical in size!
  20. Really happy for you all mate Both mum & daughter we're looking really well when we dropped in, I'm guessing dad was very tired!!! Hope you get a well deserved rest today mate. Mrs Whatsisname was so excited for you both I was hoping it would start the proceedings for us?!?! But alas, nothing yet Oh yeah, hope you get a chance to do the FMIC during your time off, after attending to your fatherly duties of course!
  21. 2 yrs ago my insurance company (at the time) got a quote on a brand new standard R33 GTS25t IC, direct from Nissan it was worth...... AUD $2,100+ !!! No it's not a misprint - $2,100+ I fairly sure the price was through Nissan Aust' ex Japan. 2nd hand I'd say about $50-$100 or so?
  22. Dungbeetlelungs, Plenty of time to get that FMIC installed, & working So much for you & I winding down from the car scene
  23. Henry, 12Oct' sounds good mate, plenty of time to get those mod's done
  24. Matt, with the track all to ourselves you can even hold a scone eating contest! John, Thanks for your input with this track day mate, much appreciated! :uh-huh:
