  1. Just sounds like a fouled/stuffed plug or 2? Easy fixed.
  2. Congratulations on the PB’s mate Bummer about the box So what’s the plan with the replacement? Holinger? Are spectators allowed? I wouldn’t mind heading out to AIR next time you’re running! The cruise was a quick one (compared to the one you came on) but it was fun. Bit of f'way stuff, hills, & plenty of chattin' Hope to see you (& the 34) next cruise! Cheers, Matt
  3. Races start from whenever 2 cars/drivers decide to get it on!
  4. Joel, Sounds good mate Hope you can make it down? The 2 of us haven't been on the same cruise for a while! And you missed John's 34 GT-R ! Matt, Very true Mid next yr the missus will be getting a bit of a pay out, so I'll be working on a small "parts for the car fund"
  5. Naa the current power level is still fun mate :uh-huh: But ya' can never have too much Just ask Matty Lowth (as per above!) If you're keen dude, Bugs & I are cruisin' from Mitre 10 tonight @ ~8.30pm, so come on down! Cheers
  6. Bugs & I are meeting up @ Mitre 10 Anzac Hwy (~8.30pm tonight) for some cruise action So rock on down guys! (& girls)
  7. It might not be a Skyline, but it's a damn good alternative :uh-huh:
  8. Matt  Yeah mate I've used that one before too!
  9. My old man has had a few Rex's over the yrs. He bought a '94 model new when they first came out, nobody knew what it was! He’s only just sold his White 2dr STi, it had a tad over 6000 clicks on the clock! The STi was a fun car to drive Great mid range torque & so easy to drive quick in the twisty stuff. Yeah you've gotta' get yourself a GT-R, you know you want one :uh-huh:  That dyno day @ CAS was a while back wasn't it! hehehe, yeah the problem is I've used all the sweet talkin'/ gift buyin' techniques already, so it's gettin' harder & harder to convince her the Skyline NEEDS more mod's done Cheers mate.
  10. Can you say 4G63 joel? If I'm not mistaken the Proton in question is powered by Mitsubishi's finest, the 2.0L turbo engine as found in the EVO Lancer range & the Aussie VR4 Galant. Or I could be totally wrong? RevsPerMin, The lil' Proton looks really nice, inside & out (especially in the eng' bay!) You'll have to bring it out on a cruise. Edit: Looks like you just beat me to it Joel The 4G93 is the 1.8L turbo as found in the Aussie Lancer GSR (later model) The 4G63 is the big gun of the 2! RevsPerMin's Proton is running the latter (& then some!)
  11. Hey G'day Minh ! Yeah Adelaide has been good so far mate Cheaper insurance down here too! I've got lots of plans for the car mate, it's just convincing my missus to sign off on the $$$ to carry them out 300+rwkw is what I'm aiming for. How's the Nissan Skyline WRX & Subaru GTR goin' ? You still drivin' a Rex?
  12. Both the R33 GTS25t & R34 GT-t (is it GT-25t or GT-t?) RB25DET engines have variable timing. The VCT is for improving bottom end/mid range torque, the same as the later SR20DET.
  13. Joel, I too have had a play vs. Andy's GT-R (sir GT-R on these boards) this was after he had the exhaust done, K&N pods, & extra boost. Side by side, both in 3rd, he went first. By the time I'd changed into 4th I'd pulled away by a number of lengths. Off the line I'd have stuff all chance of staying with him, but I'd be able to reel him in.
  14. For a GTS25t (on street rubber) to match a stock GT-R over a standing 1/4 it takes plenty of power, & most importantly.... TRACTION! To match (or better) a stock or slightly tweaked GT-R on the roll, it just takes lots of power Dunno' about the twisty stuff? My money is on the GT-R, unless the GTS25t driver has power, grip, & ability!
  15. 70kg lighter??? The R33 GTS25t is quoted as 1370kg (manual) & 1390kg (Auto) dry weight, this is written in the Nissan factory sales paperwork. Wet weight is in the low to mid 1400kg range. Mine was 1455kg (1/2 a tank of gas, + a few kg for this & that in the car) Put your R34 on a calibrated weigh bridge & I think you'll be surprised how heavy it really is! The magazines (HPI etc...) & various web sites claim 1410kg for the R34 GT-t, & that's dry weight!
  16. My father bought a 2dr Aussie STi from new, it came with a Brant alarm (unsure what model?) On @ least 2 separate occasions the car had to be towed back to the Subaru dealer due to the alarm hijack feature disabling the car for no particular reason?!? I don't recall the full details of what was happening? But he wasn't a happy chap! Mind you, my ol' man has trouble working the average VCR, so it "may" have been an operator caused fault?
  17. Piece of piss After you've done a few plugs changes it becomes a 30min job
  18. Badly fouled plugs (especially if they're cold heat range!) will may cold starts very difficult!
  19. It only does it on boost? If so then it could be a few things. A boost leak? Although a boost leak is more of a squeal. A restriction in the inlet plumbing? The plumbing/filter is sucking in under boost? It's very hard to diagnose a problem like this without hearing it
  20. I'd say we'll see more & more Aussie ECU manufacturers bringing out plug-in ECU's, we've already seen Microtech, & now AEMS (Wolf 3D). The potential in the Aussie market it certainly there! Whilst the Power FC & HKS F CON are great options (if we had more knowledge/English software on the F CON) they still have their limitations. Considering Australia is one of the front runners in the ECU market (just look @ Motec!) it's only a matter of time till we no longer see the Power FC as the No1 option for our GTSt's & GT-R's etc... As for why I chose the LT12? A number of different reasons really, options, cost, local tuning knowledge & support, & on going R&D.
  21. With the HKS2540 on an RB20DET by the time you've reached full boost, we'll be gone
  22. Yeah mate the 430nm is @ the wheels, but that figure doesn't really mean anything when compared to flywheel torque. It doesn't work the same as a rwkw to flykw.
  23. Yep, I agree with Merli (kind of what I was getting at in my first post). One other small detail, it's not so much the power (rwkw) but torque that's likely to do the tyre spinning! In order to accelerate from point A to point B (i.e. 400m 1/4) as fast as possible we would want 100% of the “available power” being put to the ground throughout the rev' range, yes? Therefore if we have to use throttle control to maintain traction we aren't using ALL the available power, & we wont cover point A to B as fast as we "could". I too have seen/heard people with very mild powered cars complain of traction issues. One example that springs to mind was a guy with a Z32 TT, he was all over the road with the rear lighting up every time he nailed it! I thought,“**** he’s got some grunt! Upon closer inspection it was very standard & had 225 crap rear rubber that was both bald & hard as a rock!
  24. The price is very good considering the results. It sure was in my case!
  25. I've got no problem with what you're saying here slip. I think it's a case of trying too hard to get ALL the available power to the ground using WOT, & then wondering why there's no grip?!? I've had my rear suspension set-up to maximize available grip with my current 255 Falken’s (-0.8 camber) There’s plenty of tread, but not much grip. I’ve still got more to do in the rear sus' department yet! I prefer to run 30+psi in the rears for all round driving rather than drop the pressure for launching. With my car set up this way I can't get ALL the available power to the ground, it’s just a case of feathering the throttle. I can't wait till I can spare a few $$$ for a full set of top quality, high grip rubber. The power delivery of some turbos can make it even harder to balance maximum power & grip!
