The Apexi parts I listed above weren't the only parts the HPI R34 had fitted to make ~207rwkw (think it was 207?) It also had a Power FC, Apexi pod intake & full Apexi exhaust. They went on to rebuild & high flow the stock turbo & it made 225rwkw (not sure how much boost?).
-
Hi Nath Yep agree with you on the UC mate, it's a very good unit. It's "spot on" with fuel consumption & driveability. If only the damn factory ECU ignition timing retard didn't start rearing it's ugly head once power gets over ~220-230rwkw The UC driveability only declined when the stock ECU started to play silly buggers with timing.

You'll be fine on 10psi Where your car hits the boost/fuel cut will depend on the density of the air, i.e a cold night / early morning it'll hit the cut on lower boost than during a mild day and so on... But 10psi shouldn't be enough for it cut @ all.
-
As the RB25DET (in fact almost all Nissan turbo engines) uses the AFM signal to cut fuel on over boost you can’t use a simple pneumatic bleed to defeat it You'll need an electronic defender.
-
Joel, The HPI R34 spat the exhaust wheel on 12psi ( boost indicated & controlled via AVC-R) It had a Apexi FMIC fitted & was making ~207rwkw @ that stage. The failure occured after 5 laps of Wakefield Park race track, i.e it was being spooled up hard on & off the throttle! Seeing as how the RB25DET NEO runs a nylon comp wheel it's easy to see how it can overspeed very quickly!

aggry -- a glass bead found buried in the earth in Ghana. puggry -- a light scarf wound around a hat or helmet to protect. the head from the sun. meagry -- of meager appearance. puggry -- an Indian turban; a scarf worn around a sun helmet. mawgry -- from Old French: being regarded with displeasure. aggry -- colored glass beads worn by Africans. anhungry -- an obsolete word for hungry that is allowed to stay in the dictionary because it shows up in Shakespeare. Apparently the origin of this riddle was a simple trick of word play. It was meant to be spoken, not written, as the secret to the riddle was in mis-hearing the clue. The riddle went like this: There are three words in the English language that end in g or y (sounds like "gry"). Angry and hungry are two. What is the third word in the English language. Everyone knows what it is and uses it everyday. The answer (another trick) to "What is the third word in "the English language," to noone's great surprise, is "language." The riddle, as posted here, represents a real life example of the old "broken telephone" game almost everyone has played in school. There's a crap load of stuff about the "gry" words on the net! Some people have way too much time on their hands

Hey meg can you post a bigger pic' I can't quite make that out -
NGK Iridium’s / Platinum’s / Copper’s I've tried the odd plug in the near on 3yrs of GTS25t ownership & after being told by a few different local suppliers of NGK plugs that they didn't have a 7 heat range iridium to suit my application I decided to settle on VX's, which have been bloody excellent to date!. Why 7's you ask? Well, as per the NGK US site, it’s recommended that for every 75 to 100hp (fly) above stock you go 1 heat range colder. So take the RB25DET from 250hp to 400+hp & it's a good idea to go to a colder plug, hence I now run 7's. Read this info - http://www.ngkspark.com.au/spark_plug_tech_tips.htm So for those that wish to use iridium plugs but want a 7 or colder plug what do we do? Luckily NGK have a racing application plug labeled IRIWAY, i.e. IRIWAY7, IRIWAY8 & so on depending on the required heat range. These plugs aren’t likely to be stocked on the shelf so you’ll need to request them via special order. They cost ~$25ea. There’s no problem with using copper, platinum or iridium plugs so long as you replace them as required. Naturally the better quality materials mean the plug will last longer (copper will wear quicker) but as long as the spark is strong enough to ignite the mixture, & most importantly the plug is the correct heat range for the application, then all is well. : ) I'll be giving the IRIWAY7’s a shot next time I do a plug change. On a final note, I recall a test done in an old issue of FF&R’s where they tested a range of different plugs on the same car/dyno etc… The humble old coppers made the most power! Cheapest plug for the biggest power gain. Mind you power isn’t the only aim of a good plug. My 2.2c

When I had one it had a green sticker on it. -
Good stuff Lachlan! I knew you'd jump in with some excellent info A few quick things to mention with 2 of the disadvantages Freebaggin mentioned. *Fuel consumption - I did a cruise with the local Adelaide SA guys recently, afterwards we were talking about fuel usage, it turned out that I hadn't used much more than a fellow GTS25t owner on the cruise, his car makes less power & still uses the stock ECU. I’ll admit my economy isn't quite as good as when I had the UC fitted, but the power/driveability have both improved. *Flat spots/general driveability - Like Freebaggin pointed out, I've been really happy with the driveability of the car since getting some on-road tuning done, & I've never experienced any flat spots.
-
Yep they are underwritten by AAMI. It actually says that in the JC ads they're playing on the radio ATM, but the ad says the full name instead of just AAMI. It seems to help when you've got other vehicles insured with AAMI. We've got 2 cars with AAMI & the GTS25t with JC all at very good prices.

Yep! Both Freebaggin & myself have LT12 plug-in ECU's. We’ve had them for sometime now. My ECU took very little time to get tuned thanks to Freebaggins map being loaded into my ECU & then tweaked to suit my upgraded turbo/fuel system (1.5hrs tuning). After one more small on-road fine tune (15mins worth) my car now runs beautifully! The power curve is smooth, even better than my previous Unichip could manage. This is mostly due to the piggyback nature of the UC. The UC can't overcome the stock ECU AFM commanded ignition retard that GTS25t's suffer once you start making decent power & the airflow maxes out the AFM. Both Freebaggin's car & mine run new inlet set-ups as we no longer need to run AFM's. The LT12 has a very impressive range of datalogging info. It can also be tuned via both laptop, or the optional hand controller (also acts as a display/logger). I don't currently have a HC but it's only a few hundred $. Freebaggin can give you more info on the HC as he's got one. In my case we had to run an extra wire to get everything up & running, it also took a bit of time to iron out a few bugs with the "LT12 to stock loom" adapter plug, so it wasn't a quite as simple as a PFC. But Freebaggin’s car & then my car were the first to have the new LT12 GTS25t Microtech fitted so it was still in the trial stage (in fact the photos in HPI are of my engine bay & Freebaggins inlet set-up). The LT12 ECU's are now fully sorted & offer a true local plug-in option that's somewhat cheaper than "most" other options. Since the fine tuning work my car has no problems with cold starts, idles fine, drives perfect, has zero problems with a vent to atmo’ BOV, & thanks to a few other mod’s makes 236rwkw on 14psi. It can even give the odd slightly modified GT-R a run for it’s money I’m sure Freebaggin will be able to add more valueable info but if there’s any specific questions then ask away Matt.

 I live right next door to you mate (Oakden) I'm also insured by Just Cars - $1,300ish, Rating 1, 29yo male, '94 GTS25t + mod's. I "also" got a quote from Suncorp Metway that was something in the vicinity of ~$25,000! Edit - Just checked my policy. It was $1,286, add rating 1 protection for a total of $1,321. Not bad considering the level of mod's that I've got listed in the policy.

Yep I can vouch for that one Matt, "Torque" don't insure import Skylines AT ALL in SA! How do I know that? 'cause I was insured by them in NSW & when I moved they said "sorry but we can't cover you in SA" Both NSW & SA Torque branches said the same thing, ie Torque SA don't do import Skylines!
-
You'd be surprised how much difference a PFC would make to your car! The Nissan ECU fuel maps are very rich, rich ='s less power There's a few GT-R's running 11sec 1/4's with only basic mod's like exhaust/filters/boost increase & ECU! Damn AWD Hehehe, I told the missus when I got home that I'd kept a genuine GT-R honest on the roll, she sleepily said "oh that's nice dear" I was like, "NO you don't understand how much of an achievement that is, oh never mind" I can safely hand the standing start honours to you though, there's no way in hell I can get off the line like you can! Cheers dude.

Andy, The cruise was cool Dunno' about the endless 25km/h corners though  Your exhaust & induction noises sound sweet now mate I saw the adapters that the RPM boys had made for your GT-R on Wednesday, very nice, well priced too! I'm glad I got the chance to give you a rolling run before you upgrade to a Power FC :uh-huh: cause I think after you've got one all I'll see is GT-R tail lights Especially after a launch
-
Hey Andy, I dunno' what drugs you're on man but can I have some  I've read both of Hippy's threads (INSURANCE & SECURITY) He wrote, "I just think Skylines look good" He hasn't edited the post either! I think you must've misread it dude CYA tonight mate.

HKS Plugs, just got 6, what are they like?
whatsisname replied to OZ GTR35's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Yeah big fella I had the exact same results after trying a set of Iridiums, I ended going back to standard old BCP6ES's. I'm now running NGK BKR7EVX's & have never had a miss since using 'em! -
WATZZZZZUP Homies  , I've just had my car run on the Rice'o'matic Rice Power dyno (long grain version) & she pumped out 550rkw (rkw = rice killa' watz) These new rego plates are wicked man! 50rkw gain! :shake: But seriously.... The car's actually in @ RPM sussing out a few minor hassles & getting some further tuning work this week. Hopefully it'll be ready for Friday?
-
Holy **** Joel how do you get traction with a 4200rpm launch on the street? I'm impressed, if I try to launch @ those rev's all I get right through to the end of 2nd or into 3rd is :burnout: Better quality rear rubber would help though! I guess you are a launch, "master", considering the amount of practice you do :uh-huh:
-
Sounds like someone disabled their boost cut? I prefer to raise the cut but never remove it completely for this exact reason! I wouldn't too worried if it was only a quick "oops!" & then you've backed off.
-
S-AFC - Only intercepts & allows fuel map changes, it doesn't do timing as per the PFC or UC. Power FC - Costly even @ $1200 for the Power FC add ~$400 for tuning, compare this to a Unichip $1100 fitted & tuned (this is what I paid). Without a doubt the PFC is the better option as reflected by the higher price. Unichip - IF, & it's a big IF! The UC is correctly installed & tuned then it WILL provide repeatable rwkw gains. My Unichip was able to provide tuning for over 215rwkw (this kind of figure was repeatable on more than one dyno) I also managed the 1/4 time in my sig' with the UC running the show. The power curve & A/FR's were both very smooth & consistent. BUT...... It took a good tuner who was familiar with both the UC & the RB25DET to get the results! The original installer did a very poor effort @ tuning it. Even the best ECU isn't much good if it's poorly tuned. Once you start aiming for over 220rwkw the UC "may" have trouble overcoming the stock ECU's AFM over voltage timing retard. This is the exact reason I decided to get the LT12 Microtech, however it "may" be possible to make 220+rwkw with the UC & get a decent power curve, I just wasn’t interested in stuffing around trying to find out!
