*Proposed Cruise July 26th* (pending weather)
whatsisname replied to Drift Spec's topic in South Australia
I can't make it this Friday, but how about Saturday night? (20th) Any takers? I'm keen :burnout: -
I've got the DCSL16 (16") Davies Craig thermo in my GTS25t. The kit isn't anything special, it's not model specific to the best of my knowledge? It all depends on what config' you want i.e. 2x12's or 1x16 etc...

Motul DOT 5.1 isn't the top spec brake fluid in the Motul range. "RBF 600 Racing Line" with a dry boiling point of 312'c is the highest spec Motul brake fluid. I tried to find the boiling point rating on both the ELF & Brembo fluids but it doesn't list the info on their respective web sites? Edit: Motul DOT 5.1 has a dry boiling point of 272'c

Good to have you on board mate. The new R34 V spec looked awesome Your times in the R34 we're damn impressive given so few mod's! I'm one of the 2 Matt's that you spoke to @ AIR, I was the one with the big blue jacket & black trackies, the other Matt is on here as well, he goes by the name of Bugalugs. Looking forward to seeing the R33 on the track soon, & having the R34 cruising with the rest of us SA Skyline owners some time too Cheers, Matt.

Thanks for the heads up Martin. Looking foward to seeing the car run! It'd be nice to see it run under, ummm, say about - 9.75 Matt.
-
Easy fixed mate! Just get yourself to my place (or Bug's) & you can grab a seat in my car (Sigma) Or, if your not far from me, then I can pick you up. The chance to see a GT-R aiming to run a 9sec pass should not be missed people! :burnout: :uh-huh:
-
Wow! with all these replies it'll be a hoot Oh well Bug's looks like it's you & me buddy!

To the best of my knowledge only the R33 GT-R was offered in purple as a standard factory colour. The only GTS25t offered in purple was a one off 1997 40th anniversary special, this car had the GT-R purple paint, it also had interior fabric trimmed to suit. I've seen a few pictures of one of these, can't remember where though?

If it doesn't get cancelled due to rain (Sunday should be fine!) then who's coming for a look? I've fitted a 100hp Nitrous kit with the aim of 11's........... in the Sigma  J/k I'll be heading down to watch so let me know if any of you guys/girls are keen & we can all meet up. Those of you who aren't keen on leaving your Skylines in the car park I may have a spare seat or 2 in the Sigma, if the Nitrous doesn't blow her up

Power output and 1/4 Mile times

My last 1/4 time & rwkw fig's are in my sig' The car has one or two mod's. It was run on Falken 255/40/17's with 38psi tyre pressure. I'll get around to taking it back to AIR for some new times soon. -
It's not uncommon for a modified car to have ALL the performance parts removed (quite often some without a trace!) So how then do you know if your stock example really is/was stock & wasn't trashed?!?! I've seen the above happen to cars once they've arrived in Australia. Yards do it sometimes as it easier to move a "stock" import, rather than try to sell as is. Potential buyers are more wary of a modified car, as per shell's last paragraph in her post above. My 2.2c

 Yep that's right! If the Barometric pressure drops too low the ignition system in my car is disabled Hang on a sec! Bug's I did take it out in the wet on a cruise a while back! (ok so it was fine to start with) I just detailed the whole car last weekend, 'cause I hadn't washed it for 4wks  I'm keen to cruise whenever the roads are dry If this Fri' is still shit then how about we all go watch the AIR drags on Sunday, & cruise next weekend?

Here's a couple of options - http://www.horsepowerinabox.com/mall/tc04.asp http://www.horsepowerinabox.com/mall/tc03.asp Matt.

3" down to 2.5" Doh! Back pressure is more important with NA engines, forced induction engines just need those waste gases out as fast as possible! 3+" all the way through. Never mind, it won't take much to replace the 2.5" section later down the track. OK, so you didn't need to buy a new UC, that's cool then  I bet this time next yr you'll have 200+rwkw & still looking for more

Meg's, The dyno that Bark's (ethan_R33) car made 177rwkw on has also been used to dyno Freebaggin's GTS25t. Freebaggin's car made a tad over 200rwkw on the stock turbo (FMIC, exhaust, Microtech etc...) FB's Microtech was tweaked again (later on) due to pinging issues (i think?) This resulted in mid 190's. This is the same dyno my car has made its last few rwkw figures on. Ethan_R33's car made 149rwkw before the S-AFC was tuned, & 177rwkw after it was tuned (the timing was advanced too). A totally standard GTS25t makes ~128rwkw on the dyno in question (from the owners mouth). Matt.

I agree with you ndr. There's not much point putting expensive super low viscosity oil in a tired & worn motor, just as silly as putting low grade 25W60 into a healthy close tolerance twin cam turbo engine. The grade of oil should be chosen based on manufacturers spec's, climate/temp, age/condition of the engine, & the intended use of the engine. In a healthy engine you want oil that resists high temperature charring & maintains its viscosity. Oil that doesn't hold up under high temperature will lose viscosity & cause a drop in oil pressure, it's also more likely to burn, or carbonize. In a performance application the better your oil holds up under high temp' the better it's protecting the engine internals. 5000k of "enthusiastic" driving "can" include a lot of high oil temp's, a track session is a perfect example, hence oil coolers to keep the oil temp under control. A quality performance proven oil is worth the extra $$$ if you’re keen to drive enthusiastically from time to time Have a chat with the pit crew on a race team (any form of racing) & see what oil they use? & how often they change it?

thinking of getting this...

Believe it or not Nissan offered a wood grain dash option on the R33 series! & yep it's bloody ugly -
G'day Nath, How are ya'? Long time no hear Ahhhh shit did you have to buy another new UC?! Oh no! Was it the age of the UC or crank angle sensor? I'm glad you've got it all sorted now, but I still feel bad 173.1 - 178rwkw on only 12psi is a great result mate! + it basically matches my rwkw level with the same kind of mod's!. I went from 173rwkw to 183rwkw after replacing a Turbosmart bleed with a HKS EVC. Jim's an awesome ECU tuner when it comes to Skylines, if there's power to be found in the ECU mapping he'll find it. Yep mate you've been infected by the power bug I told ya' you would didn't I! No I haven't hit the strip for ages! I'll eventually get some new times. Matt.

I've watched well over 20 stock or near too R33 GTS25t's being dyno tuned, this is including @ least 8 different Dyno Dynamics dyno's (in 3 states), & based on what I've seen I'd say ~120-130rwkw is about the average for the breed
-
Can't wait to see an Aussie GT-R run a 9 in the flesh!!! When's it running Matt?
-
How was the cruise? Did you go Matt (Bug's) or was it too cold for you? Had to stay home in ya' PJ's & uggies :uh-huh:
-
Yeah mate, but I don't launch until I'm doing ~60km/h :burnout:
-
I can't make it, rain or otherwise fellas Already had plans that can't be changed, but I'll see you all on the 05Jul Have a good one!
