Spotted a very tidy Stagea in Browns Plains today as I pulled out of the Bunnings there.

My instructors were GREAT, but a single 8 hour session is NOT enough to get you ready for the road when on a bike. I'm not saying what they teach isn't great, compared to what a run of the mill driving instructor teaches they a light years in front, there really isn't enough of it I'd still buy another bike if I could afford it - Skyline or sensible DD and a bike, no way I could afford my 34 AND a bike at the same time... Might need to hit my new bosses up for a raise sooner then I thought. Might also need to loose a few kg's to get back into my leathers

Q-Ride was a joke when I did mine. If they REALLY want to address the issues with the LARGE numbers (% wise) of fatalities on bikes then they need to address the rider training as well as driver education. They simply assume you have a basic set of road craft skills already (hazard detection, reading traffic, basic road rules etc) so all the training is about how to handle a bike (easy) and how to perform a lot of emergency procedures and safe low speed maneuvers (hard.) The problem is that you have SO much more to worry about on a bike then you do in a car. The training doesn't really address any of that and for people like me I got my bike license before my car license so I was lacking the assumed skill set. At least they teach you how to control skids, emergency braking and proper counter steering. Doubt any of the driving instructors out there teach any of that. Much more important to make sure that people in a car can perform a 3-point turn without turning the wheels while stationary then teaching them how to control a car if the back end kicks out due to oil/water/gravel... *facepalm* Aussie driver/rider training is a joke. Better instruction, more of it, more relevant practical tests and make EVERYONE spend time in both a car and a bike, even if it's only one 2 hour session. Most people in tin tops don't realise what riders face.

I did a search through the forums and it seems my problem isn't unique, I'm a big guy (185cm/6'2" and 120kg) and the seat is just a little too high for me, even at the lowest it can go. It's not all that uncomfortable, my hair is scrapping the roof liner. However I want to be able to take the car out for a track day or two sometime soon (both drag and circuit) and there is NO way I'm going to be able to fit a helmet on without driving with my head out the sunroof or developing a severe krick in my neck. I know a few people have fabricated/altered the standard rails to lower the seat down (going after market buckets doesn't appeal to me, try to have less reasons to be picked on by the 5-0) but I wanted to know if anyone knew of any after market rails that are a direct bolt on to the stock 34 seats but will help me get that last little bit of head room I need? Are there any issues re: defect checks that the cops can pick on for having the rails altered? Does anyone have any experience (good or bad) with getting this done? Or am I just going to have to bite the bullet and get some fully hektik mate aftermarket seats and rails?

Had the car looked at by the guys at Fulcrum today. Suspension needs raising and several of the bushes were completely shot so it's all getting sorted next week. Hopefully with the ride hight a little higher and the suspension all set up properly I'll eliminate the rubbing. If not, at least my suspension has had a good once over and will be properly set up I guess plan B will be to try and get the inner guards modified to eliminate the issue.

I know several of the coppers near my pub fairly well and they told me about a guy who grabbed a cab from Forest lake, got it to take him to the Inala police station where upon he went inside for a few minutes, came out and continued on to Darra where he promptly did a runner on the fare. So the cabby goes back to the cop shop in Inala to report the fare evasion and it turns out the moron had gone to the station to check in as he was on parole... I mean how dumb can you get, commit an offense only a few minutes after checking in for parole when the cabbie KNOWS you were just at the cop shop for some reason! Moral of the story, never underestimate how dumb some people are.

Had a proper poke around under the hood/car for the first time today and was pleasantly surprised by what I found Full turbo back exhaust by CES Racing including a split dump pipe and an after market panel filter in the air box (although it is FILTHY, need a new one). That's points one and two taken care of on my list! Got the car booked in with Fulcrum on Wednesday to sort the suspension out then I might give CES a call to see if they can sort the exhaust leaks out and I'm laughing.
