No alarm, was there for compliance and has been nicked from the workshop. You cant miss it Things unique about the car: * Twin plate clutch * FCON engine management * Titanium exhaust tip (Abit bent on the tip) * 18" Enkei white 5 spoke wheels * Coilovers which the car sits pretty low! * No plates on the car, rego OR number plates Keep your eyes pealed, its bright yellow, you cant miss it! When we were using the multimeter on this, I was checking it against cylinder # 4 and on the trigger wire when I got Sidd to start it was reading a small voltage. It wasnt doing this with #3...
-
I was helping Sidd with this last night. It appears its only one of the wires on #3 going to the igniter, not the ground or the other one, but the pink one which is the trigger wire that is coloured different for all 6 coils. That was the one that wasnt reading the voltage. Guess the best bet is to swap the look going to the igniters and see how we go? If its not that, then its got to be the other half of the loom going to the ECU id presume... Alternatively as a ghetto fix, could I just tap into the wire off another igniter from say #4 ? Dave, it is the individual trigger that doesnt read the voltage.

Keen on vertex skirts? Got a pair unpainted that I had made up in adelaide, thick glass.

One of our customers cars is in there, they were meant to pick it up a few days ago, however they have since cancelled the order. Guess we better have a firesale soon, lol. But the same group is contracted to the company I work for throughout Sydney.

Spotted abo bob last night around 6.15pm coming off princess hwy Sutherland. Was in the 2-tone s15 with HID, hehe.

On my current car, i run 225/40/18 on a 9" rim. We tried stretching a 215/40/18 on there but it was a no-go as it popped off. Needed to be a 45 profile for it to work. The 215/45 will fit easily on a 8"

Just an update and thanks to everyone making an effort to post and help me out. The whirring noise was a huge scare, however it was only the bonnet hinge which is bizzare, hehe.. So im happy that it was that rather than something in the engine. Car has been driving fine and no abnormal knocks, so maybe I got away lucky...
-
Thanks for the reply Jerry & R34GTFOUR So pretty much the case is that the bearings would have wear on them from what I can gather? The engine was very healthy prior to this, turned up fine with leak down and compression test prior and has always been running on a healthy tune, so hopefully that and regular oil changes may save the bottom bearings?

Hey guys, Had abit of a drama where I wasnt getting oil pressure which is soughted out now. Basically what happened was an oil change, however the lines were switched around on the sandwhich plate resulting in the filter getting pressure going the wrong way, meaning no oil going back into the motor or some loss of pressure for 5mins. In other words the oil light on the dash was on. The car idled like this for 5mins, at the same time i also moved the car around 20m up an inclined hill. Long story short, fixed the problem, started it again and let it idle for 10mins to get the oil flowing back through the car as the oil pressure light was off. Took the car for a drive, seemed fine, seemed to boost fine etc, and no loud abnormal noises when driving it and the PFC didnt record any abnormal knocking as the knock was around the usual 15. Once finished the drive, I popped the bonnet to see if I could hear anything abnormal and sounded like abit of a squeal which seemed to pop up twice over a 5min period for around 2sec intervals coming from the passanger side of the vehicle. So my question now is whether the engine would have any damage on it from when it had no pressure? Hoping I didnt ruin any bearings, bent anything internally etc Car type: S15 Mods: 2871r, PFC, injectors, oil cooler + relocator etc etc.

Just a quick question. In the situation where a car is just lowered through coilovers without touching any settings other than lowering the car via the coilovers would this actually change the toe settings? Would this indeed point the toe in or out if the car is lowered? I do realise camber changes, but curious to see if this affects toe. Cheers

Good topic, I actually work in the car industry in sales atm with Subaru Australia. Trade in values will always be lower, as they will always need to make something off your car, otherwise why would they buy it? If you private sale your vehicle, you will get alot more than a trade in price. That way you have the most money you can get, then go negotiate on the car your looking at. Used cars tend to have very good margins in them from experience. Just remember theres 2 factors to the equation. 1) The actual car itself. Now this could have something like $8k in the car, and thus is quite abit of movement to use. 2) The trade in. You may get a good offer on the trade, ie market value is 15k and they give you 14k, however in terms of a real figure on the trade of what they would trade your car for would be like 10k, thus overallowing 4k on your trade, meaning they take a 4k discount on the car, but still profit $4k at the end after the whole thing, plus whatever they sell your car for, ie if they sold your trade for 17k, thats $7k profit all up.
