  1. Floptus, gordon. Not the store tho, the office.
  2. Yeah latini belongs to a guy at my work, there about 3 skyline drivers where i work (including me). So you'd prolly see a few coming in/out of dumaresque st in gordon everyday.
  3. ok, this looks like enough interest to me, i'm going to start looking at getting bits and setting a date, i'll keep you all posted. If anyone feels that they could lend a hand (be it on the day or just in an organisational manner) feel free to let me know. M
  4. r32, This might not be exactly what you asked for, but it may be something better. I'm currently organising a group service day for us sydney siders in the not too distant futuer. Really its just a day when we all get together and service our cars on mass. I'll be getting many comon parts in bulk and will probably put a post up to see if there are any preferences when it comes to more variable things (like oil and spark plug types etc etc). The original post is here somewhere, i'm just a tad stratched for time right now so i cant find it for ya... do a search and you'll find it. M
  5. heh come one guys, am i the only one who hasw thought "i paid for every km marked on this speedo, i want my moneys worth.... lets av a go!"? Luckily i only ever lost my license one when i was on my p's (help off paying the fine till i got my blacks so i had a few more points to play with....) got suspended for 3 months then probationary for a year after.... was worth it tho.... 165 in an old 89 excel, never thought i'd see it never mind do it, i was waiting for scotty to pop up in the back seat and say "she cannae do'i capin' she noo hav tha powa!". But back to earth, we all speed to some extent from another, i think that what can really be learnt from this is that even at 1am coming on a freeway in a 110 zone, you can get nicked big time, so pull ya head in. We're all already cop bait, lets not let them justify it. Just keep in mind that that spot of bad luck (ie the cop) could have been worse, far worse. its generally considered that 80km impact speed its almost always fatal, and i know a few who have turned up their toes from slower hits. Bit of a mixed post this, but essentially, we all speed so instead of flaming him, just say "well duh, thats what the tracks for". And instead of saying "bummer fine" think "thankgod no deaths".... then move on to "bugger he caught up with me". Just my 5 rupees. M ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Cop : didnt you see that stop sign back there?? Driver: oh yeah i saw that, i just didnt see you
  6. Shit dude!!, i thought that "bugger up engine now" button was a joke, i only pressed it for a laugh. Nah we looked but didnt touch, nice ride is it s1 or s2 tho, it seems to have a mix of bits and its confusing me. interesting problem tho, no idea where to start on it, keep us updated tho.
  7. *sound of cricket's chirping*
  8. Ok, i'm not even going to try a whitty response to that one.... its tooo easy to set up... i'll be quiet now.... oh god it hurts...
  9. Heh see!! just think what a little creative thinking could have done... you could have avoided the train for starters, then you could have ended up with a new lad and or car.... just think of all the spare parts
  10. Yes but if he offered you a lift would you have taken it or yanked him out of the car jumped in and tore off up the road?
  11. Junkie, So far my general plan is as follows... Once i have a rough guide in numbers (i'm thinking 10 would be a nice start) and prices for parts sourced from a supplier (need numbers so i can give supplier an idea in aid of discounts), i'll stick a nice big post up listing a more solid date and the availablility and costs of parts. As for what parts you should or need to replace. Well the way i'm thinking (for me anyway) is that i'm going to replace the things i need to first, then things that would i think would just be nice to do anyway. so basically as much as i can reasonably afford to. This will be my cars first serivce in my hands since the previous owner, even though he has told me one was done late last year, i'm doing alot of things just for my peice of mind. Keep in mind that alot of what this day will be about is also being able to have a look at what others are doing and being able to ask their opinion/help. Its not a bad idea to do research first, that said it wont just be a case of "heres some bits off ya go matey". Hopefully some people might come down just to refill their wiper fluid and stuff, then stick around and have a look and maybe give a hand with others cars. Sometimes finding a strange and exotic fault and getting together and fixing it can be really rewarding and entertaining. As for getting and idea of what to do before that day, you can garner this off mates or family members with a knowledge of mechanics or you can take yer car to a mechanic and say "i'm thinking of bringing it in for a good solid service, i have this much to spend (or) price is not a problem what would you do, give me a list and a quote" and bugger of with a free mechanics opinion of what u should get done. Honestly tho i can see this being really fun, with not just general tinkering but even the idea or a competition or two to see who can change certain parts the fastest yet still do it properly etc etc jumping into my head, throw in a barbie and we have a skyline lovers heaven. Anmyone is welcome, the only requirement is that you bring either a RB-compatible car (cos thats what kind of engines any bits would be for) , some knowledge, or just a capable set of hands. bascially anything that will help to make the day better. Anyone think this is worth a sticky?
  12. Dude thats excellent, i think now all we need is numbers and a date, everything else i can see could be pretty straight forward. I think someone also mentioned that they didnt know what kind of parts they'd service, beyond a few minor components. This i thought was kinds a valid point so i had a think on it. Whats everyones opinion of making it a "Premium" Service, i can think of all sorts that can be done. Minor things like oil and filter, pod or panel clean (if applicable), new sparkies (nice ones too if we like) all sorts of belts bits and peices, you name it really. I think if enough people are interested we could probably get a good supply of good bit, and maybe if we're lucky maybe a parts place to come out ( i cant see why they would object to makeing a little money and alot of good will). So we have a venue, so everyone help drum up some interest, the more people who get invloved the better we can make it. M
  13. Junkie... dude, read the first post so far i'm organising it. i'm looking for feedback before moving on.
  14. Any sign of my application yet guys?
  15. Everyone who's got a car to bring along is welcome, just cos your new is no need to be scared. Just jump in.
  16. How many takers did you have last time?? there are a few places i can think of that might be an option but i guess it all depends on numbers. Heh maybe i should do a "field of dreams" thing, build a giant service park then stand on the front lawn and watch performance cars from all around aus magically appear down the road: heh "Build it and they shall come" that last thing aside tho, i'm more than happy to work on the idea, if someone can through me an approx number of ppl who might be interested i can look at where more closly, would indoors be better (not considering the weather), or doesnt it make too much difference. i think about 5 ppl have said yay so far, which is easy to cater for, but if more are thinking about joining us then it will get more interesting, one way or another i'll figure it out. M
  17. do yr exhaust first, do you have a EFC? well after market one i mean? if not throw on one of them too. Leave yr FMIC until u get a bigger turbo or really crank up the boost and fit them at the same time. Handling would also be a good start, you said it was lowered, question is how, with new suspension or just modded the old stuff. Hope this gives you a few ideas.
  18. After trolling through DJ's "Servicing Problems" post ( http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...ead.php?t=30269 ) I came across a mention of a group service day (i'll call it GSD for short). The basic idea was to organise a day where a whole bunch of us can get together to service all our cars at once (well i mean all together during a day). The logic behind it is that with enough of us together we can lower the cost of a service by buying stuff in bulk (oils sparkies etc etc) and use each others expereince to fix niggling probs and make small changes, pick each others brains etc etc. And prolly have a bbq too. Now this idea sounds good to me (it would, i'm still on the steep part of the learning curve) and i was interested in trying to organise one. But first off i thought it would be a good idea to see how many of you would be interested and if you have any advice or suggestions to fine tune the idea. If it looks like a popular idea i'll be looking at ordering bits in bulk and tracking down other odds and ends (anyone know anyone with a portable dyno, we can make it a service and tune day ) but for now a yay or nay will do. M
  19. Well really it should just be a matter of seeing how many ppl would come on a particular day, buying a pile of stuff in bulk (oils sparkies etc etc) then splitting the cost between the numbers. With a good quote and a rough idea of how many people are interested seeing if its feasable should be pretty straight forward. Hmm... what would u call it tho? "Group Service"?? hmm.... might whack a note on the NSW section... if i'm lucky it might get stickied.
  20. I think this is an excellent idea. Some of you may have warranties that require certain service people to do the work, but for those of us who dont doing group services would be a good way of saving money, learning a hell of alot and having the bonus of pulling the scene closer together. If ppl do this already does anyone mind if i join in, and if not anyone want to start, hell i'd even volunteer my place... got 5 acres so theres lot of room to mark cars and work.
  21. DJ, Heh you live just across the gorge from me. Now i'm pretty sure i figured it out already (smart cooky is i) but just to make sure i'm right can u pm me this guys details, seeing as i live near you i can see myself considering the same repairers, and i dont want to even consider this guy.
  22. A Jap porno and a deck of smokes.... luckily i havnt found any strange stains or srticky spots.
  23. it's gonne be a matter of either careful folding, or making a mold and pressing apparently. If its a cash if folding then hey its prolly gonna be a lone custom job, but if its a mold job... then hey... why waist a good mold
  24. uurrrmm... i mean cos of moisture..... Damn i mean humidity.... from like... uurrmm crap. i regret saying "i come over veneer"... everything i type seems skewed now.
