  1. it looked good when i was browsing them... now i'm not so sure... it could have meant veneer = wank.... or i wank over veneer, i'm siding with the first one. i keep on getting flash's of the veneer peeling sometime
  2. synthetic :whackit: nah its the real thing or nothin.
  3. Hey all, I'm currently looking at getting a brushed aluminium dash (well the bit than runs from the handbrake around the stereo and across the wheel) manufactured to fit my gtst. I'm looking to get one made because so far i cant seem to find any aftermarket ones on the net.... ok let me correct that... any Real brushed aluminium replacements... just synthetic veneers. It looks like the materials will be pretty cheap, and i'm chatting to a guy about getting them bent to shape (prolly use my current bit as the template... makes sense). I was wondering if there was anyone who's had it done and can comment on it. Now unless i hear any major horror stories i'm gonna go get one made up, and if all goes and anyone is interested i was looking to see if anyone else would be interested in getting one too. The chap i'm off to see tells me he might be able to put a better price on it if i get a few instead of waisting materials with a one off. 'd look sweet with a good metal shifter too. any takers?
  4. your getting it resprayed first thing??? and having grubby little mechanics leaning on your nice new paint job everytime you mod (assuming you dont DIY)???? i'd work the insides first, that way any dents or scratches that may happen it the mechanics (it shouldnt i know, but it can. I also hear that body kitted ponels are even easier, but i could be wrong) will get sprayed over when your finished and start work on the outside. Really this is just my $0.02 but if i wanted the look that much, i'd wait until i'd finished my major works before i made it all shiney, might save doing it twice.
  5. Predator> ok so to sum it all up...you did 1. Sanded down any burs and crap (what grade papers you use?) 2. Polished (use anything specific?) 3. Repeated 1 and 2 until desired shinyness 4. painted (any prep work needed primers etc etc?) this sum it all up? am taking notes
  6. i called whiteline myself a day or 2 back. for a 33 gtst the works kit goes for about 1400 i was told, 5% off if u get it all installed at kirrawee (or whatever it is). That said yes the kit does include cstrs and sways/strut bars
  7. Hmm... this just makes me think "why buy a pricey name brand catback when you could almost afford a 3inch from the turbo and a decent tip?". I spent 1300 at western mufflers in fairfield. got a 3 inch mandrel bent zorst from the turbo back with a 5inch tip, is shiny too. Not too loud, good power looks good too. if your even considering the high end name brand cat backs just save some cash and go all the way from the turbo with a no name.
  8. Red 33, plate SXC back of turramurra around 3ish today.
  9. PVA, Pretty sure yeah, it sits well clear of the rear window on the back parcel shelf. not rigged into anything mechanical in the space next to the battery, just power. Sounds to me like it is a dehumidifier/air filter of some type, heh now the curiosity is why i have one but most dont. Makes me feel all special.
  10. G'day James, Heh i've been trying to remember yr nick, thanks for reminding me. As for my black box, i think i preferred the warp drive answer
  11. and this thing is useful for all sorts of stuff.... and it is a DREMEL!!! Good for cutting grinding polishing etc etc Although i didnt use it on mine (i kinda made them fit by bending, but the rear was tensed so when i tapped it with my foot one day *crump* big bend line. I'll be getting myself a new set and dremeling down the edges to make em fit sometime soonish.... If anyone in the northern parts of syd wants me to do theirs let me know... if yr in south syd, let me know anyway just give me a chance to find time to get down there.
  12. keep spotting "GTS-31T" in hornsby, any takers?
  13. i'll either take a new pic tonight or i'll post the one i have at work tomorrow. oh and its badged nissan (i forgot and remembered when i took the pic at work) is also labeled "puratron" or sommin.
  14. Guys, I've had my line for a few months now, loving every minute of it. But something has been baffling me since word go. on the back shelf there is a small (maybe the size of a 1ltr ice cream tub but flatter ) box with a few leds and whirring fans, when i asked the previous owner what this was (just after i had bought it) he shugged and said "a dehumidifier" i quizzed further and i was told that it came stock with his import. No problems there, but the thing that is baffling me is none of my mates lines have one, or didnt when they bought them. Have i ended up with the ultimate rice accessorie option (pointless and electronic) or would some one have fitted it after purchase? Messiah
  15. I know there are probably a few out there.... but does anyone think making a page dedicated to collecting links like the above, maybe set up a rating system so that they are in order of popularity/quality. Theres alot of info and stores on the net but at times it seems near impossible to find it. I was pondering trying to collect all the good bits into one place. ya i know i'm off my own topic but hey. any one care to comment.
  16. I went with famous classic car insurance in WA, only cost me 2600 for a year of fully comprehensive. I told a few small porkies tho to get it that way.
  17. evo83.... you bastard, that list will take me ages to sift through. heh, plus yr cheating, you got importscene twice
  18. Well i thought i'd start up this thread cos when i forst got my line i spent ages trolling the net looking for places to get parts etc etc. So to save others the effort i thought i'd start a list of just that.... place's that supply parts to aus... feel free to add any i've left out (ie most of them) Green line http://www.greenline.jp Just Jap http://www.justjap.com Nengun http://www.nengun.siteblast.com Japanese Import Parts http://www.japaneseimportparts.com/ Bad Influence Motor sports http://www.badinfluence.com.au/ Xspeed http://www.xspeed.com.au
  19. damnit i'm working.... i took one day too little leave
  20. jaqule, Well if you got a stock setup up now then really you want to make sure you have something good to bold yr bolton's to. Firstly i start with an good exhaust and intake setup. Depending on what yr looking at spending maybe 3inch from the turbo back (dump, high flow cat, new tip if needed etc). As for intake just stick in a high flow panel filter in the stock box, i've got a pod in mine now, it was in there when i bought it. But if your on stock setup theres no point setting yrself up to be defected and loosing power cos of warm air intake. Leave your Fc until you have a a few things under the bonet for it to take advantage of. I'm in almost the same situation as you, i'm running stock but a 3 inch exhaust. Next up on my list is as follows (and keep in mind people will do things differently)... Cold Air Partition Boost controller Power FC (could get it later but i wanna play with it now) Suspension work (lots to do here). spark plugs FMIC (Not fitted until i get my....) Bigger turbo. i have probably left things out but u get the drift, dont get caught up in the whizzo BOV's and PFC's until you need to. The ground work is expensive enough.
  21. Franks, I think i can see your point. Really its a case of the NSW forum only being as strong as its members are close. Maybe if we pimped some NSW meets in a big way on the main forums (refer them to here of course) it might be possible to make the community a little tighter and there for the forums more active. That said i'm new here so i'm probably a fair way off the mark. All i know is that i'd love to get more involved in the scene, theres alot to learn from other members and alot of fun to be had aswell, it just feels like a matter of motivation. Or maybe we just need to foster a little friendly rivalry between ourselves and the other states. Heh, i got an idea, a competition, i'll even fund it myself if i can, dont know what kind, or what prize to offer, but it might be a little shove in the right direction, people need a good reason to start frequenting here again. Scatter brained thoughts as usual, but you never know, i might come up with something worth while one day.
  22. yeah i keep spottin a black 32 at the dural caltex just down the road from me.... said "nice wheels" to the owner one night... was that anyone here?
  23. well ya got one (relatively) new NSW member here.... ya i know its not much but its better than nothing
  24. Just curious is my application and payment have been received sucessfully. I sent the form in on monday and paid on the same day via direct debit . havn't received an email or call or anything to confirm it, so i just wanted to make sure nothing had gone pear shaped.
