  1. Dan thanks for the PROPER explanation regarding choice. But seeing as I HAVE installed these before and HAVE driven cars with these in them, depending on friction compounds, they can be a bitch. So I guess the uneducated comments were not addressed to me...lucky.... On a side note how come not a sprung centre plate, these would still provide enough friction and clamping but without the overall harshness and vibration that inherently accompanies an unsprung centre!!! I agree with why the button and not the full face, however, clamping pressure is greater using buttons than full face, so having it being not as heavy I find a little bit hard to swallow, that being said I am happy to be proven wrong. Also the rivets are always better to overhaul...I think they are the bee's knees when it comes to replacing!!! I can see why multiplate has been the choice here, single plate, either button or otherwise will not hold 300rwkw...well it will but not for long...
  2. Spotted 47APN at Aspley Maccas thursday night, sorry I did not stop in but was starving for some KFC...was in the white R33 plates 911XXX with Peninsula Mechanical sticker on the rear window. I avoid Aspley even though I live near there, so apologies again for seeming rude and driving through...

    Welsh Plugs

Most mechanics can do this. I had mine replace when my engine was built. It depends if you are going to replace them all or just the leaking one (best to replace ALL that you can GET too when replacing the leaking one). Get some quotes and see if dan is available. If its around the head then most likely a head removal will be required = expensive and off the road. Jay you should NEVER cut the firewall to change a welsh plug...

  21. OK, AVGAS is a DRY fuel, thus you should never go past a 10% mix as this will cause problems with fuel lines, fuel pump, injectors and so forth. Too much CAN actually cause more damage than the "perceived" benefit. Also as it is a "dry" fuel it does not actually "mix" with the other fuel in the tank (similar to oil in water), however, that being said as both are fuels in the broader sense they do interact. There is a slight performance gain, similar to that of using toulene or ethanol, it reduces the chances of knock and detonation and allows greater timing advance. I have used this in many cars, purely at the track and NOT for everyday driving as the constant use is not good for the fuel system as mentioned previously. Finally, with regard to the O2 sensor, too much avgas will not only see the death of this but also your cat. However, these effects are SIGNIFICANTLY reduced since avgas is no longer lead based. Thus a 5-10% mix, not on a constant basis should not have an effect. I usually run 5% and have never had an O2 sensor fail, nor any other fuel system problems, I have seen 50/50 mixes do some nasty things to fuel pumps though...
  22. Just Jap currently have adjustables for $175 incl delivery, if you join NS.com...
  23. What like the QLD police organised one...where some of them helped out and some took details for "follow up" purposes... I think I pass....

  25. Report it Dan, that way they might actually get a clue. Also include comments such as I feared for my safety, and that of other road users and potential pedestrials that may have been out waking in a suburban area...
