Australian Volk Distributor
JAPCAB replied to mike68's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
speaking of volks....the other day i was at a suspension/brakes joint up in tullamarine getting my daily driver (holden commo VR) some new rear shockers....while waiting in the store i looked at a catalog of rims. Looking in the calalog i spotted white 'VORK' rims....on the other side of the rim photo it said 'RAVS engineering'. what a cheap ass rip off! Imagine going up to ur mates 'check out my new VORKS' only to realise u've been stiffed with some crap imitation. -
not sure if this is your exact problem; when i changed my BOV back to the standard bov, i didnt' do up the bolts as tight as i should have. result - whistling noise under acceleration........sounds really crap. MY mum was in the car and she said she wanted to get 'out of this shitter before it explodes'

Are thes mods worth it? Opinions please
JAPCAB replied to benl1981's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
You can notch up the boost to about 12p with your current setup, this will give you a nice power gain. The upgraded panel is a good way to get your engine some more air, other than that pop in a front mount. upgrading to a bigger SMIC you wont really notice much....remember with a cooler, its cooling capability is relative to its surface area. -
R33 GTST s1 ,what colour the stock injectors?

Clutch problems, experts opinion
JAPCAB replied to walkingpig's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
sorry to hear about your car getting stolen and your stereo swiped, thats bad luck. (While on this topic its a great reminder to all you other skyline owners - dont leave your car anywhere! ) With your car only being 1 km away from where you had parked it.....my guess is the thief didn't have a fkn clue how to drive manual and burned the living shit outta the clutch until it just wouldnt go anymore. The gearbox is pretty tough - it would have to be really abused (high revs and pushing into gear without clutch HEAPS of times) before the gearbox packs it in. I could be wrong but lets hope its just the clutch...otherwise you will be up for another 1K or so. Good luck with it JAPCAB -
fine adjustment can be done through the AAC idle screw (sorry not sure of the exact name) will only put it up or down 2-300 revs or so though.

adjust the throttle position sensor. Remember to mark in exactly where it was b4 just in case so you know where it was b4. When i say mark it in, mark it in properly cuz like 1 mm will affect.

boost the f*ck out of it

Squeeky brakes and crunching noise..
JAPCAB replied to Haysey's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Definately take out the brake pads and give them a check. Easy to do, minimal tools required. TAke off wheel, and the on brake calliper make sure the pins are all in ok, then take them out and check the pads. Make sure the shims are in place correctly. there is a thread on how to take out/check them etc. are the brake pads new? are the due for a replacement? shit brake pads can be the cause of this. give them a sand all over with emery/sand paper to take off any glazed parts of the brake pad. Check rotors - is the rotor surface smooth? any ripples? perhaps you need your rotors machined and made nice and smooth. good luck. -
Happy new years all! Hope you all have fun. Party safe. Peace out for 2004. JAPCAB

roadwatch has a full listing of all the speed/red light cameras. If everyone pops in their postcode and 'takes care' of all the local cameras........they will no longer be an issue!

any chance of posting up a pic of the damage? from what you say - rear qtr panel hitting into tree + rear wheel bent you might be up for some serious cash to fix it ($6K+ i would imagine). You will need new rim, suspension (std or aftermarket whichever u have) qtr panel may need to be replaced, will need to be painted. Depending on how hard you hit the tree the damage may go into the boot area which means you will need more cash for them to fix that up too. Have a look in your boot, take out the spare wheel and look for signs of where the boot may have buckled. bashing the rear wheel aint cool either - that will all need to be straightened out and the car may never drive true again unless it is fixed spot on. Good luck with the repairs man, hope it doesnt cost too much - money and friendship wise!

lollll latest dickhead of the week........

with the amounts of canaries/epa's being handed out...your best bet is to invest in some stock gear which goes cheap you can pick it up from the forums (stock exhaust/bov, rip out PFC etc) and stock up your car for a while until the heat blows over! At least you can drive around without getting defected and save up some cash.....who knows maybe i'm just unlucky with the canaries i've copped way too many and enough is enough....i'm sick of the fkn cop lights in my rear view mirror

Hrmm i thought TMU/TOG were two different units?!? i've recieved recent fines and on the bottom where the cop puts his stamp it states 'officer etc etc, T.O.G. Perhaps its an old stamp!

unfortunately its gotten to the point where the cops are just busting everyone so hard that if you are driving your skyline around and it does have a loud exhaust note you will definately get pulled over sooner or later...unless you leave it in the garage for your own personal pleasure! The crap thing is you dont even need to get pulled over, some TOG can just see your car drive past, grab your plate and dob you into EPA. I used to have a straight pipe exhaust with hollow hi flow cat and no resonator on my r33 gts-t, and it was stupidly loud and used to shoot cool blue flames. But it attracts the cops like flies to dog sh*t! in a year of owning the car, i copped 7 canaries and 3 epa's. A big waste of money and not worth it. These days you just cant get away with it. You are better off getting an aftermarket exhaust that is legal or one that you can put a baffle plate in - My mate has an apexi N1 exhaust for his r33 gts-t and it came with a baffle plate. It will save you a lot of hassle and more importantly a lot of cash which i'm sure can be put to better use than straight into the governments back pocket!!!

your lucky you didnt stack your car!!! learn how to drive before trying to be a hero with your mates in the car you knob.

nova 100 advertises locations of speed cameras, i rang one in this morning Even if it is illegal (which i dont think it is, beacuse they place signs up about fixed speed cameras notifying the motorist of a camera) i'd still do it anyway because there is no way they can do anything to you - your just a bystander on the side of the road with a sign, they cant touch you...and if they did it would be great fun because you would get an excuse to punch their fkn lights out! hehe. The cops also hate them because the cops also get fined by these guys! I was talking to a cop and he goes they get fined the same way that we do unless they can provide a valid reason.

will be setting a new personal record for getting drug ****ed

On my day off yesterday I was returning from buying some new tyres with a mate. We were on Bulleen rd North Balwyn at about 5pm when someone gave us a highbeam signal. Lovely i thought - warning us of an upcoming speed camera. We drive up the road looking for the bastard. Finally we spot it, a magna with the camera setup. Lil bastard we thought! We did u turns for about 30 mins highbeaming everyone! it was great because we did u turns and started heading the other way down the road and other people were highbeaming us back so we had started a nice chain. It was working but not everyone highbeams so we thought how can we do this more effectively? With home only being a few streets away, we booted it back home, coming back sporting a home made sign. We cut up a nice big box and got the spray paint. 'SPEED CAMERA AHEAD' in massive, bold visible characters. We grabbed our sign and got to work! About 15 metres from the speed camera setup in the magna, we were showing the sign to all the motorists warning them of the prick waiting to snap anyone doing over 4 km/h over the limit. The public support was outstanding, people beeping, yelling, waving, thumbs up, you name it. Several people did U turns to come back and commend our work! Others were driving past throwing coins/5 buck notes out the window in appreciation! The dude in the magna with the camera set up had seen our scam in action, all the motorists were doing 20km/h past the camera, and were highbeaming the crap out of the otehr side of the road warning them. I got the sign and showed it to the guy in the magna and making hand signals of 'slow down' and he proceeded to take several pictures of us haha. He then got out of the car and started running over, we ran around the corner to our car, and booted off around the block to the other side of the road to launch another attack on this ****roach. The stand off lasted about an hour, every time he got out of the car we just pulled our position back a few metres. He didn't want to look like a knob chasing us down the street again! haha. Eventually he gets out, grabs his gear and starts packing up. we were laughing and shouting at him, we waited until he got all his gear into the car and started driving. We then started walking back to our car which we had hidden a few streets away. THe guy pulls up to us and winds down the window speed camera guy - 'i've taken ur photos' -big fkn deal....what are you going to do with it? go pull urself over it? whats my name then??? you cant do shit u rodent speed camera guy - 'awww well......but....err... -dont come back into our area u scumbag speed camera guy - 'i'm coming back tonight' -yeah?? where abouts we'll make sure we come down aswell at which point he started to drive off as we were pissing ourselves laughing. in the hour or a bit longer we must of cheated him out of say 50 or more people doing a couple of kays over the limit... how much is a fine these days? $150? , well 50x$150 = $7500+ dollars loss to the speed camera guy. I felt like a modern day Robin Hood - stealing from the rich and giving to the poor! I bet he got his arse kicked when he went back to head office they probably thought he was sitting on his arse all day doing nothing! The best thing about it is that its not illegal! haha. Next time i have nothing better to do and i come across one of those revenue raising bastards i'll be sure to pull over and give him a hard time.

dont waste your time with teins unless you are doing track racing etc, if you are getting them just for road use see if you can get a brand of suspension that can be set soft or is soft. My teins are height/damper adj. and they are too hard. After a while of the lovely melbourne roads I soon popped both the rear shockers. Yeah on the freeway its elite but any of the other roads u feel every little crack and crevice in the road. Besides ur g/f's tits will get sore! As for JIC Magic...forget those they are mega hard. My mate had some on his r33 and with the windows down - when you drive over train tracks the window jumps about 2 inches out of the friggin door!
-
Chadstone shopping centre - a few r33's been jakked from here, some even during the day. Stay away. Parkville/flemington/kensington - keep your car away from here, junkies will jack ur stereo in broad daylight any thing within the vacinity of a commision flat complex is definately a no-no.

Thats too bad. To avoid a return trip to EPA and get it sorted in one day you need to do the following; Apexi PFC - remove, pop in stock ECU. Boost controller - remove. not allowed because it can change the emissions, even if on stock boost levels Pod - You are allowed a pod or a FMIC. one or the other not both. Exhaust - When i go to EPA i have to put on a stock exhaust, my stock Exhaust measured 88dB (stock cat, muffler etc). I've been to EPA and seen guys with exhausts with a baffle plate, they will fail you for 2dB over so save yourself the trouble, get a stock exhaust (can be purchased for $100 roughly, check forums, good investment) and get it bolted on (about $70 from exhaust joint) , or if you want you can do it yourself with a trolley jack...who can be bothered i just pay the $70 and get it done in 30 mins without getting my hands dirty and back/neck sore! Good luck with it.
