Overboost Problems in my R33 Series II
raist60 replied to The Mafia's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Have you actually tried just running the hose straight from intake to the wastegate without having anything at all in it? I would think that would be the first thing to try if you havent already. Also you mechanic is wrong, boost pressure PLUS the exhaust pressure are both pushing to open the gate. So the compressor test is kinda void. -
Idle Problems And Hesitating - R32 Skyline
raist60 replied to BenA31's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I found with my car when it came over it had set of resistors tucked into the plastic conduit about 10 cms down from the actual sensor. THis had broken and caused the ECU to keep losing signal from the TEMP SENSOR, which caused my idle to be rough because it was dumping extra fuel in there. Be worth checking the actual signal cable itself before replacing the sensor. -
SK: I can see your point. Always just taken it for granted i guess.

I always look at 25/30 hybrids as starting life as a 25 then whacking a 30 bottom end under. I wouldnt personally go buy a shitty RB30 and then buy each part to make it back into a DET. :| Personal preference perhaps
-
Hardly a world apart. They are the same casting just cleaned up with sexier valves. Hes saying if your gonna build a psycho engine you could use a cheaper base RB25 and do things like headwork that would negate the point in starting with a 26.

I believe there are 2 seperate things that the 33 ECU does 1. Is when there is excessive airflow it retards the timing and increases fuel 2. When boost gets very high its causes an extremely violent ECU fuel cut that almost throws you through the front window when it hits I believe in this case its no. 1 fixable as i said with an ecu
-
Cars dont give two shits about o2 at full load. Id say now your flowing more your hitting the standard 4800-5000rpm ECU flatspot. ECU see's too much airflow gets a little worried and pulls the timing back pretty severly. If it is that then there is no way to fix short of putting a new ECU in.

Need to grab an RB25DET VCT (Intake) Cam gear if anyone can help. Pref Melbourne.

Youve got to loosen the bolt that is actually going through the pulley to adjust that tensioner. Its for your AC by the way.

Power FC Tune - dyno result and questions.
raist60 replied to Robo's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Your power fits your mods man. The tune has cleaned up your maps a fair bit and gotten rid of the standard 5k flat spot. As for your problems, dunno about losing low down power, cant see any reason for that. Your maps look fine and i probably wouldnt blame tuning unless they've taking timing out down low ?? (Cant see why they would) And for the idle, you might have a dirty AAC/IAC valves, give them a clean. Also check the RPM point that your getting injection back on deceleration and try lower it slightly. (Cant remember the FC term for it but its on the Rev/Idle menu) -
Spray pattern on the 550's seems pretty good at a decent pressure... (40psi +) Also depends entirely upon how quick your cycling them. It looks like they atomise like shit on an injector flow tester when cycling slowly. If you up the rate they seem to atomise quite well...

I also have an exhaust cam that i can sell.
-
You can use an RB20 rail with a couple of slight (5 minute) modifications and two new bolts. The injectors are probably good for about 340 at the wheels depending on rail pressure.

External wastegate with standard exhaust manifold.
raist60 replied to Jaws's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
The manifold is made by GCG, i just put one on my car. Not the cleverest design. I have had to remove the a/c to run the exhaust. Runner 6 goes out to far and leaves you with very little room for front pipe. As for construction they are a nicely made manifold, well cleaned (grinding etc) and look sexy. Cant comment on flow yet, as I havent started it yet. PS GCG sells em for 1100 so they arent expensive either -
RB20DET KW's Per Litre is Better than RB25DET? Why?
raist60 replied to Cubes's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Hey man just thought id mention at the time of those runs it was a GT30 dash 11 (475hp) turbo, the 25 had no trouble spinning it up. It also was running a .82 a/r housing with a fairly tight nozzle and small turbine wheel. It was a pretty responsive turbo on the 25, on the 30 it was psychotic. I have since upgraded as it was cutting my top end pretty badly. -

I got 290rwkw with it, but it gets a bit pingy

Have you re-read the post after i cleared it up for the mentally impaired?

Jaguar dont recommend it. Some Aussie magazine about Jags recommends it, big deal? Thats not the vehicle manafacturer... Thats like a Street Commodores writer testing an additive and saying thats he thinks its good.... does holden recommend it? Nope. http://www.ftc.gov/os/1999/09/pslcmp.htm <--- Looks awfully familiar in testing Also that article states that the second roil was applied to the bearing being tested it was quiet immediately. What happend to the run in?
-
Id be interested in seeing the statement from Jaguar endorsing the product. I couldnt care less about farm machinery and i also know its impossible for you or I to quantify that statement so its irrelevant anyway.

First of all dont tell me to piss off this is a skylines forum, not EnricoPalazzo's forums. Your quote "Basically u automatically disapprove this product without knowing the slightest thing about it" Any you basically automatically approve something without knowing the slightest thing about it either, whats to say in 20000 k you have destroyed engine components or something as a result. I work for a fleet management company and most people that get targetted by this sort of gimmick dont actually know the first thing about engines or lubricants, ive seen first hand the sort of rubbish these sales people bring with them, but some brain surgeon management might deem it worth the cost. Doesnt say anything for the product, sorry. If the product works the way its supposed to how are you going to have a before and after dyno run? Replace all your "conditioned parts" with normal parts again? This product uses that 500mile running in rubbish for exactly this point, so you cant have decent comparative real world results. And yes if something claiming this came from a reputable manafacturer i would believe it, because its out in the open enough to be shot to pieces if it is in fact bullshit. Roil is not, ask your average mechanic whether they know about roil they'll probably think you have a speech impedament. Motul and Redline and established lubricant companies, that have done extensive R&D and have been thoroughly field tested so no Im not skeptical. Finally dont tell me to rack off becuase you dont agree with me, its an open forum if you dont like that **** off and make you own Enrico forum. Cheers

First of all whats to say they were changing their oil at the right intervals in the first place. Whats to say this is attributed to YOUR product? Nothing. Second of all we're supposed to believe you, becuase your not selling anything right? [sARCASM]

Also another profound point that most of your brain surgeons are missing is that if a product mobil released truly did last longer they could charge more for it hence not cutting profits. Derrrrr.....
