are you sure its pinging? if you just started it i cant imagne it to ping on idle. it could be a lifter noise or piston slap?

just follow the line that comes off you wastegate actuator (stuck to you turbo) and follow it, it should go through a solenoid stuck to your strut tower

you would need alot of parts including the manual gearbox which is roughly $1200+, also you need manual flywheel, clutch, pedal assembly, clutch master and slave cylinder, console parts, (not sure if the factory manual tail shaft will fit?). so its not a small job and if you buy all the parts and get someone to fit it all, i would say it would cost more than $2000. if you can find someone to buy your auto box then you can get some money back

yeah that sound something like mine they dont cause any performance problem for me etheir, the main reason i want to fix it is because it is embarrasing (most people dont notice though because they are rather quiet, only loud when i first start the engine when it cold)

what a coincidence i am doing the exect thing, in july i will be going to LA spending a week there, then driving across to Alberta canada (i have family there). in total i will be in the US for about 3 weeks and Canada for 3 weeks aswell. i will also take lots of pics
