  1. Vinyl is more resilient than paint. Stone chips that scuff the vinyl will most definitely chip paint (in the case where a car is not wrapped). To put it in perspective, the resilience of most wrapping vinyls is like duct tape, which is quite strong. Matte black vinyl wrap is used extensively in racing... Hey REXDAN, have you seen this car before?
  2. Big, black & lots of horsepower.... Mike
  3. The paint underneath is protected during the wrap. Unless the paint was flakey to start with, it wouldn't get damaged. The weight added is negliable. Vinyl wrap material is not all that thick. Picture below shows unwrapping, without residue. The CF wrap was on a Cooper S for 11 months and the owner wished a new effect, hence the removal. I started by peeling a corner back, added a bit of heat and subsequently rolled it all into a "ball". Some broke off and some didn't. Afterwards, the roof was smooth and not even sticky. All of the film's adhesion substance remained on the vinyl. The roof did not even require a wash. M3 special paint has to be treated like a glass baby. http://www.egmcartec...he-matte-paint/ The BMW Frozen Gray M3 is the Munich automaker's new and exclusive offering only for the North American market. So exclusive that the 30 owners of the vehicle will have to sign a paint care agreement before taking delivery of their limited-edition Frozen Gray M3. The agreement says that the warranty on the vehicle does not cover the matte paint if it is damaged as a result of negligence by the owner, environmental damages or improper repairs. To take care of your Frozen Gray M3 – BMW suggests the following: Never polish or wax the frozen gray paint as it could lead to a glossy surface. If washing your frozen gray M3 in a automatic car wash choose a car wash that does not apply vehicle wax. Rinse the M3 with high pressure water to remove dirt before sending it through the automatic car wash to avoid scratches from sand, dust and other micro-particles. Remove bugs, bird poo, tree sap, tar, fuel spills or oil immediately using a soft sponge. Avoid strong rubbing while cleaning the frozen paint. BMW sells suitable products for maintaining the frozen paint at your local dealer. Repairs to the paint (scratches, dents, etching) must be completed by a BMW trained body shop. Most auto body shop will not be capable of repairing the frozen gray paint.
  4. Point taken.....(I have been iffy about it myself; after using it as a prop at AutoSalon, where things can border on the kitsch). Now I am a little embarrassed. Pitchfork will appear no more in future wrap photos.
  5. Mmmmm....should look like a meanie... Speaking of imagining things....
  6. It took us 5 full days. This involved cleaning, stripping, more cleaning, wrapping, refitting, checking over all quality and detailing. We worked back-breakingly hard throughout the 5 days. But all worth it. Mike
  7. I know what you mean. This one isn't grey at all. It is a true satin black. It is even "blacker" than my CF MX-5 ! From experience, 3M shrinks and Avery vinyl leaves a residue upon removal. Oracal, too. Mike
  8. We wrapped this GTR in Satin black vinyl. The car was originally black. Mike
  9. PM sent. Mike

  12. Yep! HX-30000 Satin is the way to go. One wipe with a wet chamois and its like new. The super matte black is like a chalkboard. Can write on it with chalk! Our supplier once said that 3M will release a new product in April this year. But....I worry that it might shrink like their CF Di-Noc. That bicycle is beautiful! Looks awesome. Mike
  13. We are wrapping a R35 GT-R this week. The first in NSW I believe. Pics will be up shortly. The rear quarter glass seal lifts up easily, so we tuck the vinyl underneath it (no need to remove glass). On the door windows, we lifted up the belt mold and tucked it underneath that. This methiod can be used on most cars. Pic will be up shortly (car will be comlete this Friday). Real excited! Here is a sneak peek of the stripped front-end. Mike

  15. We wrapped a brand new press car in early Feb '11 in matte black. This car will be covered by the automotive media in March '11. It seems that matte black is "in"; when car manufacturers turn towards the aftermarket. Our work was overseen by the car brand's execs. We did not harm the car's paint in any sort of way, or we would have to buy that car from them. $140k. Ouch! To avoid scarring the paint, we don't cut on the panel but on the excess over the edges of the panel and fold that excess towards the panel's rear (also achieves the "completeness" effect of spray painting). Mike
  16. Yep! 100% Carbon fibre vinyl wrap. Turns a MX-5 into something that looks more potent. More pics of it in the Gallery: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/gallery/album/81935/4159-cf-wrap-mx-5/ Mike
  17. This '05 MX-5 has been vinyl-wrapped with carbon fibre vinyl. Swaps for other manual sports RWD cars (+ or - upto $10,000 cash adjustment) are also considered. A State Road vehicle inspection report was conducted March '10 to document the condition of the complete car before the wrap. This report covers all aspects including body, mechanicals, interior and any evidence of previous repairs. The report confirms an excellent condition with no previous accident repairs. This report can be emailed upon request. The vehicle has travelled under 5,000km since the report was conducted. Log book, owner's manual, 2x original keys & MX-5 tailored mats are included. Modifications include: Wrap by Carbon Demon , Tein Flex coilover suspension (purchased in April '10 with receipts) , UL chassis braces x4 , Enkei 17" rims (no scratches) , ADR-approved Autotechnica buckets (factory leather seats are included and in excellent condition) , K&N panel filter , Eclipse TomTom head unit with stock BOSE speaker/amplifier retained. SAT-NAV/USB/Bluetooth/MP3/CD/radio functions. Works with iPhone and others. , Alloy wheel lock nuts Other than the stock rims, ALL standard parts are included. Vinyl wrap is FULLY reversible. This car is fully road legal. Its finish is approved/recorded by the RTA. Please call: 0425147515 Location: Lindfield, Sydney To email Mike: [email protected]

    CF wrap MX-5

Hexis HX-30000 CF Vinyl Wrap used on complete exterior & interior accents. The wrap reflects surrounding light and its colours. Under yellow street lamps, at Tom Ugly's Bridge NSW, the car gleams gold! Other than the sepia effects, none of these photos have been retouched, edited or digitally tempered with.
