Professional Installer Scratched The Hell Out Of My Interior
Grey replied to Little's topic in Car Audio & Electrical
I appreciate that you used the money to get it done professionally but to be honest I would have done a better job for a tenth of the price. That's just unacceptable I would take this to consumer rights. Try fix the scratches and deep cuts with a bit of interior filler with matching colour. The professional probably had no experience because removing the headunits cage the bottom is sharp and the cage is heavy so most beginners will rest it on the side unknowingly scraping away the edges, an 'experienced' person would have put cloth to cover the sharp jagged edges at the bottom of the cage and had less of the rough work. Well that's how I would have done anyway. -
LOL they said to me that they had non in stock and had to order it so I just soldered it myself, maybe i should have just waited....hmmm..seeing as my right front speaker isnt working
-
well this is what i did to mine, i just removed the headunit (radio bit but can be any bit of it u want) then unplug the back cables (takes some skill u gotta find this button and pull hard, you might break a finger nail in the process) find a headunit you like either online or at your local car audio shop (i got mine from autobarn which was a bit pricey but i dont care) rewire and solder everything according to the nissan wiring diagram and put it back in (either get custom made panels to fill the sides or just use foam and paint it black).

I bought a multimeter and tested each individual wire, turns out, I did everything perfectly but just didn't ground it properly. So I grounded it and it turned on, everything works good but I need an antenna for the radio and my right front speaker doesn't work. Tried switching the wires around but the right front speaker still doesn't work, does anyone know why this is when the old radio worked with the right front speaker?

Thanks that really helped, I just unscrewed all the bolts and the inside didn't budge and I was about to give up when my hand moved the whole 2 lights apart and I'm like wow that was EASY! Went to autobarn bought 2 bulbs, went back fitted them on, one didn't work so drove back and they said there was a 3 in 1 million chance that a new globe didn't work and didn't believe me so I drove my skyline to their place and showed them and they were like WOW so they replaced it with another one and it finally worked! Thanks for the great help!

I've done a search for this, many people with the R34 have done this no problem but I can't seem to do it, this is what I've done: 1. Bought a Pioneer DEH-3350 headunit. 2. Bought solder, soldering iron, insulating tape, wire cutters + wire shredders 3. Removed the radio part of the head unit so I could install the pioneer one. 4. Disconnected negative terminal of the battery and pressed brakes repeatedly to deplete any remaining sources of battery. 5. Downloaded and studied the Nissan 1995+ wiring diagram. http://www.installdr.com/Harnesses/Nissan-Wiring.pdf 6. PROBLEM: Wires did not have same colour as the ones listed for the Nissan parts 7. SOLUTION: I created my own list of colours that represented the relative positions that the diagram had. For example, the A on the diagram was "Gray," my one was orange so I connected the orange to the purple wire of the pioneer headunit wire. 8. PROBLEM: After hours of painstaking soldering, I insulated everything made sure nothing touched, hooked up negative terminal of battery made sure that the headunit was earthed connected it all up and guess what, NOTHING! (Except for a few sparks from the ground wire) 9. PROBLEM: Pioneer head unit will not screw into the factory DIN pocket. 10. PROBLEM: Remote control unlocking works, but LOCKING doesn't work, I have to manually lock it from the driver door. 9. Conclusion: Wasted 300 dollars + 1 day of labour + I now have cut wires that don't work. Here are some pics below of the terminals I cut off and how I labeled them in colours with respect to their positioning on the diagram. This is how I connected up everything according to my colours: A- Orange B- Grey with blue stripes C Black with pink stripes D - Light green E- Black with yellow stripes F - Nothing G - Orange with black stripes H - Red with blue stripes I - White with red stripes J - Blue with white stripes K - Nothing L - Nothing M - Green N - Red with white stripes O - Black with red stripes P - Blue with yellow stripes To give an example of how I connected it: On the diagram it reads: Letter M - Nissan standard colour is pink - New radio colour is yellow On my list that I created, using the diagrams relative position, (seeing as I don't have pink) M is green for me, so I soldered Green to Yellow. Urgent HELP needed, also PM me if you want my mobile number so we can discuss. (I live in Melbourne, VIC) (CAR IS A 1999 NISSAN SKYLINE R34 MANUAL COUPE 25GT NON TURBO) (STOCK AS ROCK)

yesterday I removed the boot lining and below it was metal glued onto metal and under it was supposedly the light but i think it was another layer of metal, i'm just so bad with cars how do you get to the light?
-
true they aren't like computer that slow down and keep running, they just die altogether =[
-
isnt the glove an LED? sorry im really dumb with this stuff
-
Half of my red tail light is not working are there any guides to fix this and how much would it cost me? I tried the search function it wasn't too helpful unless you guys can direct me otherwise, thanks!

Thanks buddy I'll save for some more then or I'll just stick to crappy speakers until I'm off my Ps.
-
stop flaming me please

Well $2000 is too much for me to spend, I work two part time jobs and I really don't want to spend that much on an N/A car as I'll be upgrading to a turbo in three years time. I guess screw the speakers and subwoofer then, I'll just get the headunit so I can actually play SOMETHING in my car -_-
-
As the title says, I'm dishing out a total of $1000 for a new audio system in my R34 Non-turbo Coupe. This is a part I want in it, a Pioneer DEH-8350SD headunit, replace all the speakers in my car with new ones and finally install a new subwoofer (doesn't need to be massive). All this will be installed by a professional. What speakers and subwoofer fit into the price range of my budget? Is the Pioneer DEH-8350SD able to control iPhone 4 in the actual headunit itself or do I have to use my iPhone to change the music? How much is fitting and are there any suggestions for who can do it in Victoria? Or should I just go to Autobarn? Finally, if I want to buy a new car, can I remove these parts and replace them with my stock parts and transfer the new parts to my new car? (Thinking of changing to a turbo in 3 years time) Any suggestions / help appreciated! Thanks!

Currently, I'm taking my headunit apart, using the guide on these forums, but some of the cables (all of them) are impossible to unplug, I'm using all my strength in pulling them out but they won't budge. Also should I be disconnecting the negative terminal of the battery before I proceed?
-
WOW GUYS GUESS WHAT!?!? Just then on my drive, I turned the ignition, decided to press the open button (I do this everytime I go for a drive) and this time, the head unit opened!!!! It was amazing, it worked for about 2 minutes, the CD player too!! The CD player I left in there it went off for sure!! I heard a subwoofer at the back which I didn't know if it still worked, maxed out the speakers for those 2 minutes, then all of a sudden, it went dead, nothing displayed on the screen and the CD player didnt work anymore... WHY is this so? Connection problems? Should I take it apart and rewire the connections!?
-
it sucks to be targetted i mean its not really a hoon car, skyline drivers are intelligent people as opposed to the bogan xr6 / commodore drivers. When I was coming home the other day, this red P plater kept cutting people off in his commodore, and zoomed ahead at 40kmh over the speed limit, when I got to the entrance of the freeway, his car was on the grass (lucky no trees or anyone there) he had lost control of the car what an idiot
-
Wow that's nice, I guess I'll buy an external screen from JBhifi and some random cd player and radio from the place i got the car from done and done
-
its not about the time its about the money and after spending every cent and more from my wallet in buying the car i dont think i can dish out another 2000 on audio
-
what does NOU TMU and EPA stand for?
-
lol okay, i'm kind of thinking of booking at dandenong so i can do my test in the next few days. For the record, how many times have you guys been pulled up? How many times on average? My friend who drives a yellow skyline R34, gets pulled over on average once a month.
-
alright my friend is doing the cd player and radio for 220 - 250 is that a good deal (the pop up screen still remains unchanged)
-
oh yeah, my car is stock so i guess slipping it wont be too bad
-
LOL, then what do I do? release the clutch slower? i figured it only happens if I rev it past 4000 rpm then change to a higher gear...and today some P plater got angry at me cause I drove a skyline...it's like trying to tame a beast that keeps jerking!
-
i think i'm releasing the clutch too fast and not slipping it a little like you should?
