I work for my old boy at magnetic engineering mainly do steel supply but also have a biggish mazak 3 axis machining center, which I spend most of my time on. I used to however work at diemould tooling along with Dave with the tommy mak who works down there on arvo's now.
-
You guys have it too easy down there at BAE. My old work foreignies were rarely heard of. My current work however You work days or arvo's down there?
-
Dare say I will be there, my car may even be running by then if someone ever gets back to me about what is actually wrong with it.

I was one of the team of 4 that rocked up well late. So at least one of us owns a skyline and on this forum (I just spend most of my time in the classic line's section), we weren't just complete randoms well we were but ya get that. But yeah we started last got up to 5th snapped a tie rod whoops back to last again, ended up finishing 5th so I reckon we did alright. There is no way I could race and open wheeler, I'm way to rough for that.

^^ what he said 6.5 is the way to go. just that little bit more hard edge and a lot more of a drivers car. I got the joys of thrashing one through the adelaide hills about a month ago and fell in love, but there is no way I'm getting rid of the skyline and can't afford to have both.
-
My skyline has been off the road for almost 4 years now, I have pretty much forgotten about it. Don't like thinking about it.
-
It's currently down at smooth, which is on the same street as my work. So you will probably see it chilling round the area if you are still working at the same place.
-
It's now there. Said it should be out by the end of the week, then it will be pretty much ready for intial start up. owwwwww. Reckon I'll get D'd before it's run in, judging by the amounts of looks I got with it just on the trailer. Maybe that was just all stupid crap drawn on the windows in the dust though 4 trips from seaford to town over the weekend towing a car trailer, moving cars and hoists. Glad I wasn't paying for petrol. Time for bed now

My car is getting put on a trailer tomorrow to go to a workshop to hopefully be finished. Between work, fixing my house and getting drunk I no longer have time to do all fiddly little shit that is left to do. So with any luck this thing should be up and running in the next coupla months fingers crossed, after 4 years I'm not holding my breathe though. It's a bit sad not to finish it myself considering the amount of time I have spent on it, but oh well I wanna drive it. Sick of seeing it sit there doing nothing.

Rocket industries. They had listing for all bolts for FJ when I looked

Why do you need doors?
-
I run a 17" x 10" on the rear, 17" x 9" on the front. Only have lipped rear gaurds, easy as to do without damaging the paint. No scrubbing anywhere and I run huge steering angle and a fair whack of castor. Or of course there where these wheels I had for a bit. 15 x 7.5 -10, should have kept them.
-
yes yes why would you bother
-
It's not the offset you need to worry about when fitting wheels over brakes, it's the actually wheel design offset has nothing to do with it. Keep this in mind.
-
My car runs a 17" x 9" with a +35 offset with a 20mm spacer and they sit pretty much just in the gaurds with a touch of camber with r33 brakes (which are probably a bit of over kill and too heavy, in need of a down grade). I don't have any pics here on my work computer but I know I have post them up a few times on here before. It is possible to fit those 4 pots brakes under 15's my mate bluey runs r33 brakes under a 15" with a 3mm spacer for just enough clearance.

I reckon that has a lot to do with the fact that Tom Monkhouse repped his DR at just about every drift comp/ practice/ show SA had to offer for over 2 years so a lot more people have been exposed to them and how cool they really are. Back when I first got my DR 4 years ago (mine came off the boat the same week Tom bought his) I could pull up next to your average silvia/ skyline driver and they would not even know exactly what it is. To the point where I had a well known import nissan wrecker tell me that I owned a R30 with a HR31 front end transplant , when I went on search for a new headlight, and yes I have never been back to that wrecker

Rack and pinion steering for one thing As for a rear bar I wouldn't have a clue, Neame had one which someone had painted black which had started flaking but I think it went in the bin with the bent shell. Stuff that for badges, my car has been completely de-badged all of mine were a bit shitty anyway. I can't wait either, if only I wasn't so lazy. I was way more enthusiastic when I started it. I just need to get moved into my house properly and bring down to my garage so I can actually work on it, it's currently stored up in my mates shed which is, way far away when you don't have a license. And with my new pay rise I should have a little money to finish it off Quite possibly he's an old schooler, way old school with an FJ 1600. How does never sound?
-
We have been trying to get a 30 cruise up and happening for years but there has never been a point in time were we have all had our cars on the road or licenses at the same time, for some of us having either or is a problem Off and has been for nearly 3.5 years, it's sad to think about it. The most recent photo I have which was taken almost a year ago now and is still pretty much at the same stage just has a little more dust on it. It's close but it's still pretty far off because I'm so lazy, however everything on it is pretty much brand new, with a few thing you don't see very often done to DR's, the paint could also do with a bit of a rework I kinda stuffed it up a bit.

FJ20.com, would be your best bet, you see DR's pop up on there for sale everynow and again. Most DR's I see come up for sale generally get sold to mates and never really advertised. As for finding these DR's it's just a matter of who you know, I remeber back in the day when my car was still on the road, having 5 DR's parked in my driveway. I knew just about everyone with in adelaide with them, well people that mattered anyway (Boof would remember these times, haha). I know a bloke that has 6 FJ's sitting in his back shed so anytime I need parts I know exactly where to go, I don't let his name slip out too much though, cause I need all the contacts I can get. Tom wouldn't sell the plates, trust me I tried on many occasions. It must be fun living next to the monkhouses, I remember being there at 2am when Jack decided to start up the rally car running anti-lag just to show us how loud it was, haha.

It sold for $4000 Wish I had some spare cash, I have plenty of garage space.
-
Funny I should mention this a couple of days ago, my mate rang me at lunch today. The guy that bought it off him needs money fast and wants to off load it, $5000 complied with a freshly rebuilt motor and new clutch. Said I could take it this weekend for $3000 then get the rest to him at a later date. Hmmmmm, the only money I have should really be going on my house, but I'm going to go look at it then make up my mind. But then again I do have a silvia I really should be selling. This is it while it was still in Japan.

C10 Skyline Easily Compliable In Aus?
DR JOSH replied to benny_blanco's topic in Classic & Vintage (1950's-1980's)
Small car scene???? You obviously don't know the right people, people tend to keep on the down low these days. -
He imported it himself.

Nope haven't seen it, saw a white one getting defected down south a couple of months ago but didn't have a front bar or anything like that. I have also been looking into getting another stocker to get around in, instead of my silvia poo mobile. My mate landed a minter which he ended up selling for $4500 un-complied, I was spewing I couldn't come up with the cash in time.
