Question for those in the know, What cameras do they use for those slow motion shots on the TV and is there something affordable that will do a decent job for the everyday person? Matt
-
Hurd a rumour that there were discussions in relation to the building of a racetrack in the Singleton area which is in the Hunter Valley. Could be fiction but has anyone heard similar information?
-
thankyou again, Matt

I was talking with someone the other night who was suggesting that Skaife and Wilkinshaw racing were entering the new car they had built?
-
Any chance of getting the photos that were taken or pointing in the right direction with who to ask>?

It's a little hard to tell as first time on PI but seemed to be quiet good, the wear was comparable to the re55's and didn't seem to suffer what I experienced with the R888's in tread block squirm. They do seem to have some tread block movement due to the design but it seems to be only minor that shows in the wear on the tyre when you are looking at them and not through the wheels. The FR is nearly dead but apparently that is expected at PI and suffered from getting a bit too much pressure too quickly and I didn't bleed it off quick enough so wear in the centre of the tyre is higher. Felt fast, stable at higher speeds and came on quiet a lot quicker then what I would experience with the RE55's. I didn't expect this and found myself getting stuck into it earlier and earlier then what I would normally. Probably the best tyre I have tried but would like to see the results on a home track before singing its praises.

Show Me Your Racing Machines

doesn't look like many turns on the nut's phunky? -
Yes please do, last time i think the SAU Vic guys caused a bit of a stir with some pretty mean times from memory. Is there another SAU "State Of Origin" battle happening? Perhaps QLD can get involved as well,
-
LOL It's funny how in Vic they run 26 cars on the track in a super sprint, makes it very hard to get a clean lap but plenty of overtaking action at the start as you try and get a good position. Not sure i was getting as good fuel enconmy in the nissan as i was in the commadore though.

Just got back from Phillip Island driving to sydney and managed 13.6ltr/100klm in the VZ V6 sedan with a full set tools, wheels, spares, jack and with 2 ppl in the car. Stuck to the speed limit or a little above including the a run through peak hour traffic in Melb. Matt

great post, thanks for sharing.

Thanks Roy and the rest of the SAU Vic crew who I meet on Sunday, you all were really good blokes and appreciate the tips you passed on. I was surprised with how friendly the day was with the PIARC, Dave with the 32GTR was a real champion and a good steerer along with the guys in the Mini and WRX. Not sure if he is on SAU but thank you for assisting and for also splitting the cost of the garage. PI is really in a class of its own with super fast - flowing corners, a lot better then any of the other tracks I have been on and so much more rewarding. The facilities and track surface seem second to none. I didn't get home till late last night after fixing a few issues with the car. Trip back was good but scored a nice little surprise from a little light blue subie forester with a flashy light thing right at the bottom of a down hill section of the road. 106klm/h in a 100 zone downhill - got to love Victoria!!! Who was the person with the camera? Any chance of getting some of the photos you took? Thanks again for all your help guys and hopefully will be back down with a leave pass in the not too distant future.

Must admit i have called 000 twice on the road, once heading north about at Macksville at 1am in the morning and this car is doing 40klm/h on the Pac Hwy speeding up to 80 then slowing down. He was going into the on coming lane and i was sure a truck was going to clean him up so quickly overtook and called the cops. Up the road i noticed a local cop sitting in the entrane to a cane field and pulled over to tell him about it and the first thing she said "oh it was you who called" hopefully we saved the guys life. The other one was heading back from wakefield and a sleepy driver just sth of Marulan, was all over the road and as we were driving past him could see he was falling asleep. Tried to beep the horn and my wife was yelling out the window but the guy didn't really respond. Luckly there was a Hwy patrol sitting in his usual spot just before the servo and i pulled over and yelled out to him what had happened and which car the guy was driving in and he then was able to pull him over. It was quiet funny in a way as as the Hwy Patrol was getting out of his car after pulling this guy over about 6 highly modifyed cars from the track day rumble past and the cop just stares at all the cars going by. Time Attack Suspension Setup
boxheadmr replied to Full-Race Geoff's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
From the looks of things you are running a full GTR driveline and engine combination in a S chasis car, this is fairly custom set up and there would have to be some differences from a normal GTR or S chasis car so doubt you can't use the exact same suggestions for these cars. What is the results on the corner weight scales? -
Sorry to bring up an older thread but searched for recommendations on wheel alignment places and this was the one that came up. Have the settings I require just need someone to align it for me, is this the place to go too over that side of Melb and do they have a proper wheel alignment equipment or is it done by string and tape? Matt

Will be in a white wide body S14a, race number is 539 but not sure if this is taken down there. Just sent off my entry forms this morning to get the early bird special, wish i realised you didn't need to join the club to enter and just be part of a cams affiliated club but had already got the money order. Looking forward to it and to saying hello. Matt

Perhaps ask these places for some honest feedback on how you presented in the interview, have you tried Fosters @ Karadoc or GTS or Best Bottlers. Plenty of resonably sized business around.
-
Thanks for that will give me an idea of how i am going on the lap timer. hopefully i am not wasting too much time with all these questions of everyone and apresiate the guidence. Is any of the SAU Vic team heading out on the Sunday or Saturday (bearing in mind the HH event). Matt
-
What is a resonable time around the track?
-
Been using RE55's for a while now but have tried out the R888's and AO48's previously but seemed to get the best wear and good times out of the RE55's. As a hot lapper the R888's seemed to do well from what i expeienced. Yeah thought as much with the fuel on the Saturday, hopefully the weather will be OK (have jinked myself now) and not show it's usual form for PI that you see on the TV or every time i have been there to check out the racing. I am not sure how it works at PI,

Picking up some fresh tyres this week and like the reports on the medium new A050's so will give them a try, picked up some new pads and fluid as well. Thanks for the tip with the fuel and will pack the extra jerry cans, is it pricy the fuel at the track or best to drive to San Remo for a splash and dash. I would imagine the Saturday practice would go through the fuel the most. Any tips for where to park-best to get a garage, food etc? Matt
-
It looks like there is plenty of spots available and if you get in before the 8th is a little cheaper. I would love to do Haunted Hills as have heard it is the best hillclimb in the county but the chance at 2 days at PI looks too good an oppatunity to pass up. Is there much on at winton for the trip back?

disbute = dispute, sucks you can't edit your posts. Hope you all like the video, was inspired by "Love The Beast" intro although no Russel Crowe speaking over the top.

my water temps only hit 90deg as well, might be worth logging it to show the differences between the two (in sump vs exit from block). The majority of people tend to say the differences are only minor between measuring in the sump to the block but would be good to see the two compared on a hot track day.
